Organizational Culture and Turnover: Focusing on Moderating Effects of Personal factors (조직문화와 이직 관계에 대한 실증적 고찰: 개인특성의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Many empiric research findings have supported that the characteristics and strength of Organization Culture(OC) is closely related with organizational performance(absenteeism, job satisfaction, cohesiveness and turnover etc.). The first purpose of this study is to review the relationship between OC and turnover as a performance factor, and the second and primary purpose is to test the moderating effects of personal factors(sex, educational career, rank, occupation, marital status, job switching, age, company tenure and job tenure) between OC and turnover. For the analytical purpose of this article, OC type is categorized as Maintainable Culture(MC), Affiliation Culture(AC), Progressive Culture(PC) and Rational Culture(RC) based on Quinn(1985). The empirical results are as followings: Moderating effects are found in sex(with MC and RC), educational career(with MC, PC and RC), job switching(with MC and RC).

  • The characteristics of nonlinear seismic behavior and failure mechanism of RC space frame in railroad viaducts have been studied by the numerical analysis in time domain. The structure concerned is modeled in 3 dimensional extent and the RC frame elements consisting of fibers are employed for the columns. The fibers are characterized as RC zone and PC one to distinguish the different energy release after cracking resulted from the bond characteristic between concrete and re-bar. Due to the deviation of the mass center and the stiffness center of the entire structure the complex behavior is shown under seismic actions. The excessive shear force is concentrated on the column beside flexible one relatively, which leads to the failure of bridge concerned.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the external joints flexural of hybrid system(RPC) which is consist of precast concrete slabs and cast in site concrete walls. The external joint's specimens were prepared by types of joint detail and were tested under cyclic load which used yielding displacement. The results of external joints of hybrid system showed that the strength capacity of RPC is little different than RC and that the energy dissipation capacity of RPC is similar to RC.

An Experimental Study on Flexural Performance of Precast Concrete Modular Beam Systems (프리캐스트 콘크리트 모듈러 보 시스템의 휨 성능에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • Precast concrete (PC) modules have been increased its use in modular buildings due to their better seismic performance than steel modules. The main issue of the PC module is to ensure structural performance with appropriate connection methods. This study proposed a PC modular beam system for simple construction and improved structural and splicing performance. This modular system consisted of modules with steel plates inserted, and it is easy to construct by bolted connection. The steel plates play the role of tensile rebar and stirrup, which has the advantage of structural performance. The structural performance of the proposed PC modular beam system was evaluated by flexural test on one reinforced concrete (RC) beam specimen consisting of a monolithic, and two PC specimens with the proposed PC modular beam system. The results demonstrated that the proposed PC modular beam system achieved approximately 86% of the structural performance compared to the RC monolithic specimen, with similar ductility of approximately 1.06 fold greater.

  • In this study, concrete composite beams were tested under two-point loading to evaluate horizontal shear strength. The test variables were a type of composite members (PC+RC, PSC+RC, SFRC+RC), area ratio of high-strength (60MPa) to low-strength concrete (24 MPa), and transverse reinforcement ratio. The test results showed that the contribution of transverse reinforcements and interface conditions had influence on horizontal shear strength. Existing and previous test results were classified according to test methods and the interface conditions and were compared with the predictions of current design codes. On the basis of test results, an improved design method was proposed.

  • Pressure field and velocity profiles in a thunderstorm downburst are significantly different from that of an atmospheric boundary layer wind. A model of the pressure field in a downburst is presented in accordance with the experimental and numerical results. Large eddy simulation method is employed to investigate transient pressure field on impingement ground of a downburst. In addition, velocity profiles of the downburst are studied, and good agreement is achieved between the present results and the data obtained from empirical models.

Analysis on the Flexural Behavior of Existing Reinforced Concrete Beam-Column Structures Infilled with U-Type Precast Wall Panel (U형 프리캐스트 콘크리트 벽패널로 채운 기존 철근 콘크리트 보-기둥 구조물의 휨 거동 분석)

  • This study aims at developing a new seismic resistant method by using precast concrete wall panels for existing low-rise, reinforced concrete beam-column buildings such as school buildings. Three quasi-static hysteresis loading tests were performed on one unreinforced beam-column specimen and two reinforced specimens with U-type precast wall panels. Seismic resistant test of anchored and welded steel plate connections manifested an average of 2.8 times increase in the maximum loading (average 591.8 kN) in comparison to unreinforced beam-column specimen. The maximum drift ratios were also shown between 1.4% and 2.7%. An analytical study was performed while assuming the RC column on the right side and the vertical element of the reinforced PC panel to behave in completely composite manner and the RC column on the left side and PC panel to behave in completely non-composite manner when loading was exerted from upper right end of RC frame of specimen to its left side. It was found with the assumptions that the overall flexural behavior in principle agreed with the experimental result.

Longitudinal anti-cracking analysis for post-tensioned voided slab bridges

  • Post-tensioned concrete voided slab girders are widely used in highway bridge constructions. To obtain greater section hollow rate and reduce the self-weight, the plate thickness of slab girders are designed to be small with the adoption of flat anchorage system. Since large prestress is applied to the anchor end section, it was found that longitudinal shear cracks are easy to occur along the voided slab girder. The reason is the existence of great shearing effect at the junction area between web and bottom (top) plate in the anchor end section. This paper focuses on the longitudinal anti-cracking problem at the anchor end of post-tensioned concrete voided slab girders. Two possible models for longitudinal anticracking analysis are proposed. Differential element analysis method is adopted to derive the solving formula of the critical cracking state, and then the practical analysis method for longitudinal anti-cracking is established. The influence of some factors on the longitudinal anti-cracking ability is studied. Results show that the section dimensions (thickness of bottom, web and top plate) and prestress eccentricity on web plate are the main factors that influence the anti-cracking ability. Moreover, the proposed method is applied into three engineering examples to make longitudinal anti-cracking verification for the girders. According to the verification results, the design improvements for these girders are determined.

  • The rail, which supports the train road, distributes the wheel loads to the tie by rail stiffness. Subway sleeper on concrete ballast is construction of PC or RC sleeper. The present, PC sleeper is constructed of line 1, 2, 3, 4 Seoul Subway and RC sleeper is planing construction for the STEDEF system on concrete ballast of the line 5, Seoul, Taegu, and Kwangju Subway. The major purpose of this study is to check influence of the angle with analysising the behavior of sleeper according to the existent or non-existent of angle. And the study is carried to check static analysis by manufacture of same model.

  • The deterioration of PC box girder may cause serious effect on the durability of PC structure compared to that of RC structures. In the durability assessment of PC box girder bridges, a quantitive model on crack width is considered as a measure of durability. This study suggests a durability limit state model for PC box girder bridges. This durability limit state model in formulated based on the conventional models on the cracks in concrete. And the allowable crack width is taken as an assumed value established by the design specification or provided by the maintenance authority of the structure.
