The purpose of this paper is to apply the newly developed SICAT teaching and learning model to the actual scene of teaching and learning and draw a point of discussion for utilizing teaching and learning model, by uncovering the satisfaction of students and the inhibiting/facilitating elements when using the model. SICAT(Scientific Inquiry and Creative Activity with Technology; from here on SICAT), a teaching and learning model custom-built for engineering education, was developed, as more and more people paid attention to the demand for creative engineers. It was developed from the basis of PBL(Problem Based Learning), includes three sub-types which can be applied to the actual theory, design, and experimentation fields within engineering education. The three sub-types, which are ARDA(Analysis-Reasoning Activity & Discussion-Argumentation Activity), CoCD (Collaboration Activity & Capstone Design Activity), and ReSh(Reflection Activity & Sharing Activity), respectively support deductive and argumentation activities, creative design and collaboration activities, and retrospection and sharing activities. However, no research has been conducted to investigate whether or not there are inhibiting or facilitating elements in the application procedure, or what the rate of satisfaction for students is, when applying the SICAT model, which was newly developed to innovate existing engineering education, to the actual site of teaching and learning. Therefore, this research applied three types of SICAT teaching and learning models to the theory, design, and experimentation classes at the department of materials science and engineering at Hanyang University for eight weeks. After application, the students, teachers and tutors were surveyed and interviewed, and then the results analyzed in order to uncover inhibiting/facilitating elements and the rate of satisfaction. The satisfaction rate of students from the SICAT teaching and learning model was 3.78(in a perfect score of 5: The A type-3.65, The C type-3.80, The R type-3.90), and inhibiting/facilitating elements were drawn from the aspects of learning activities, support system. In conclusion, they can be contributed for implications of SICAT teaching and learning model universal use at engineering education in University.
This paper examined its possibility and made its new definition by finding relevant bases in order to make a close inquiry into its Identity and direction at this point when cyber-based gifted education academy is established and operated again by its necessity And 4 models which can be used in special education for the gifted were developed making a link with special education for the gifted by collecting and re-classifying cyber educational methods developed by basic research as priority of the educational method which is considered to be the most urgent issue in practical cyber learning. It is a project-type cooperation education model, an information collection-type research education model, a community-type discussion education model, and a problem focus-type e-PBL education model. To apply developed leaching-learning models to reality, students at gifted education academy in Gyeonggi Cyber Gifted Province were imputed models in different ways respectively for 4 months. As a result of analysis and statistical data of activity level and satisfaction level of students who participated in learning activity, it appeared that high level of satisfaction and active activity level were induced compared to the previous method based on tasks. It is expected that this paper will provide the bases when each cyber-based gifted education academy plans operation plan later on, and it will provide proper methods when cyber guidance teachers plan class activities.

Planetary boundary layer height (PBLH), produced by the Local Data Assimilation and Prediction System (LDAPS), was verified using RawinSonde (RS) data obtained from observation at Daegwallyeong (DGW) and Sokcho (SCW) during the International Collaborative Experiments for Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic winter games (ICE-POP 2018). The PBLH was calculated using RS data by applying the bulk Richardson number and the parcel method. This calculated PBLH was then compared to the values produced by LDAPS. The PBLH simulations for DGW and SCW were generally underestimation. However, the PBLH was an overestimation from surface to 200 m and 450 m at DGW and SCW, respectively; this result of model's failure to correctly simulate the Surface Boundary Layer (SBL) and the Mixing Layer (ML) as the PBLH. When the accuracy of the PBLH simulation is low, large errors are seen in the mid- and low-level humidity. The highest frequencies of Planetary boundary layer (PBL) types, calculated by the LDAPS at DGW and SCW, were presented as types Ι and II, respectively. Analysis of meteorological factors according to the PBL types indicate that the PBLH of the existing stratocumulus were overestimated when the mid- and low-level humidity errors were large. If the instabilities of the surface and vertical mixing into clouds are considered important factors affecting the estimation of PBLH into model, then mid- and low-level humidity should also be considered important factors influencing PBLH simulation performance.

In this study, the impacts of local meteorology caused by tidal changes in the West Sea on ozone distributions in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) were analyzed using a meteorological model (WRF) and an air quality (CMAQ) model. This study was carried out during the day (1200-1800 LST) between August 3 and 9, 2016. The total area of tidal flats along with the tidal changes was calculated to be approximately $912km^2$, based on data provided by the Environmental Geographic Information Service (EGIS) and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF). Modeling was carried out based on three experiments, and the land cover of the tidal flats for each experiment was designed using the coastal wetlands, water bodies (i.e., high tide), and the barren or sparsely vegetated areas (i.e., low tide). The land cover parameters of the coastal wetlands used in this study were improved in the herbaceous wetland of the WRF using updated albedo, roughness length, and soil heat capacity. The results showed that the land cover variation during high tide caused a decrease in temperature (maximum $4.5^{\circ}C$) and planetary boundary layer (PBL) height (maximum 1200 m), and an increase in humidity (maximum 25%) and wind speed (maximum $1.5ms^{-1}$). These meteorological changes increased the ozone concentration (about 5.0 ppb) in the coastal areas including the tidal flats. The increase in the ozone concentration during high tide may be caused by a weak diffusion to the upper layer due to a decrease in the PBL height. The changes in the meteorological variables and ozone concentration during low tide were lesser than those occurring during high tide. This study suggests that the meteorological variations caused by tidal changes have a meaningful effect on the ozone concentration in the SMA.
With our society entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there has been heightened interest in coding education, which has led to an increased number of coding classes offered in schools. Once catered to degree holders only, coding courses are now being offered as liberal arts courses to even non-majors. As the importance of computing abilities and creativity-oriented education through software learning becomes increasingly pronounced, the need for research on effective coding learning is growing more urgent. The present study sought an effective coding education model that would encourage and enhance learners' participation and interest in coding. The proposed learning model is designed to invoke learner's recognition of various coding grammars and data search in the process of designing and performing their own unique project. Application of the proposed learning model and analysis of such case studies showed improvement in learning outcomes. One can expect improved performance among learners if the proposed learning model is applied to various coding courses.
Data for model analysis derived from the finite volume (fv) GCM (Goddard Earth Observing System Ver. 4, GEOS-4) and the Land Data Assimilation System (LDAS) have been utilized in a mesoscale model. These data are tested to provide initial conditions and lateral boundary forcings to the Purdue Mesoscale Model (PMM) for a case study of the Midwestern flood that took place from 21-23 May 1998. The simulated results with fvGCM and LDAS soil moisture and temperature data are compared with that of ECMWF reanalysis. The initial conditions of the land surface provided by fvGCM/LDAS show significant differences in both soil moisture and ground temperature when compared to ECMWF control run, which results in a much different atmospheric state in the Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL). The simulation result shows that significant changes to the forecasted weather system occur due to the surface initial conditions, especially for the precipitation and temperature over the land. In comparing precipitation, moisture budgets, and surface energy, not only do the intensity and the location of precipitation over the Midwestern U.S. coincide better when running fvGCM/LDAS, but also the temperature forecast agrees better when compared to ECMWF reanalysis data. However, the precipitation over the Rocky Mountains is too large due to the cumulus parameterization scheme used in the PMM. The RMS errors and biases of fvGCM/LDAS are smaller than the control run and show statistical significance supporting the conclusion that the use of LDAS improves the precipitation and temperature forecast in the case of the Midwestern flood. The same method can be applied to Korea and simulations will be carried out as more LDAS data becomes available.
Recently, the importance of creativity and problem-solving skills are being emphasized in engineering education. In particular, research is actively being conducted on learning models considering practicality or applicability in practice and education among many creative problem-solving methods. The objective of the present study is to develop a teaching and learning model and verify its effects in order to promote creative thinking and problem-solving skills using the TRIZ Contradiction Analysis. This study led the participants to obtain basic knowledge of creative engineering design through the creative engineering design course for freshmen at an engineering college, and come up with ideas and solutions using the TRIZ Contradiction Analysis. A survey was conducted and analyzed to verify the effectiveness of education using the proposed teaching and learning model, and as a result, the effectiveness of education has been proven by an average of 89 positive responses. Follow-up research is needed on improved application models so that the proposed learning model can be applied to various subjects.
The WRF-Chem model was applied to simulate the Asian dust event affecting the Korean Peninsula from 11 to 13 November 2010. GOCART dust emission schemes, RADM2 chemical mechanism, and MADE/SORGAM aerosol scheme were adopted within the WRF-Chem model to predict dust aerosol concentrations. The results in the model simulations were identified by comparing with the weather maps, satellite images, monitoring data of $PM_{10}$ concentration, and LIDAR images. The model results showed a good agreement with the long-range transport from the dust source area such as Northeastern China and Mongolia to the Korean Peninsula. Comparison of the time series of $PM_{10}$ concentration measured at Backnungdo showed that the correlation coefficient was 0.736, and the root mean square error was $192.73{\mu}g/m^3$. The spatial distribution of $PM_{10}$ concentration using the WRF-Chem model was similar to that of the $PM_{2.5}$ which were about a half of $PM_{10}$. Also, they were much alike in those of the UM-ADAM model simulated by the Korean Meteorological Administration. Meanwhile, the spatial distributions of $PM_{10}$ concentrations during the Asian dust events had relevance to those of both the wind speed of u component ($ms^{-1}$) and the PBL height (m). We performed a regressive analysis between $PM_{10}$ concentrations and two meteorological variables (u component and PBL) in the strong dust event in autumn (CASE 1, on 11 to 23 March 2010) and the weak dust event in spring (CASE 2, on 19 to 20 March 2011), respectively.
This study investigated how helpful the use of generative AI such as ChatGPT is in conducting engaged learning at each university. In this study, based on the experiences of users using generative AI technology, we analyzed the relationship between usability and ease in consideration of the characteristics of learners, and examined whether there is an intention to continue using generative AI technology in the future. In this study, in order to verify the factors affecting the intention to use ChatGPT technology in order to solve the problems given in the participating classes, we examined previous papers based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Information System Success Model (IS), extracted the factors affecting the intention of ChatGPT technology, and presented the research model and hypothesis. Empirical research on the continuous use of generative AI in participatory learning using ChatGPT was conducted to determine whether it is suitable for long-term and continuous use in the educational environment, and whether it is sustainable by examining the intention of learners to continue using it. First, user satisfaction was positively related to the intention to continue using generative AI technology. Second, if the user experience has a great influence on the intention to continue using ChatGPT technology, and users gain experiences such as usefulness, interest, and effective response in the process of using the technology, the evaluation of the technology is positively formed and the intention to continue using it is high. Third, the ease of use of the technology also showed that it was intended to be used continuously when an environment was provided in which users could easily and conveniently utilize generative AI technology.
In this study, we analyzed the impact of orographic and thermal forcing on the atmospheric flow field over the urban metropolitan areas on urban artificial buildings and future development plan. Several numerical experiments have been undertaken in order to clarify the impacts of the future development plan on urban area by analyzing practical urban ground conditions, we revealed that there were large differences in the meteorological differences in each case. The prognostic meteorological fields over complex areas of Seoul, Korea are generated by the PSU/NCAR mesoscale model(MM5). we carried out a comparative examination on the meteorological fields of topography and land-use that had building information and future development plan. A higher wind speed at daytimes tends to be forecasted when using new topography and land use data that have a high resolution with an appropriate limitation to the mixing height and the nocturnal boundary layer(NCB). During nighttime periods, since radiation cooling development is stronger after development plan, the decreased wind speed is often generated.
