ARM 리눅스 환경에서 ltrace 를 이용한 라이브러리 함수 호출 추적 (Tracing Library Function Calls on ARM Linux Environment using Ltrace)

  • 리눅스 환경에서는 빠른 개발 및 디버깅을 위한 다양한 시스템 도구들이 존재하는데 라이브러리 함수 호출을 추적할 수 있는 도구로는 ltrace 가 널리 사용되고 있다. 현재 제공되는 ltrace 에는 ARM 리눅스 환경에 대한 지원이 있지만 커널 내부의 기능 미구현으로 정확한 동작을 하지 않는 상태이다. 본 논문에서는 현재 ltrace 가 ARM 리눅스 환경에서 갖는 문제점을 제시하고, 이에 대한 방안을 ltrace 의 내부에 직접 구현하여 문제없이 실행 가능하도록 한다. 이를 통해 실제 ARM 리눅스 환경에서 Parsec 벤치마크의 7개 프로그램을 실행하고, 각 프로그램의 라이브러리 함수 호출을 추적하여 정상적으로 동작함을 보인다.

이동 인터넷에서의 TCP와 무선데이터링크의 재전송 간섭 (Retransmission Interference Between TCP and Wireless Data Link in Mobile Internet)

  • TCP protocol is originally designed for the wired network in which the packet loss in mostly caused the network congestion, and thus the performance of protocol can be decreased in mobile Internet environment due to the comparatively high error rate of wireless link. This paper analyzes the influence of retransmission interference that is a major factor to the TCP performance decrease. We first build a model in order to simulate the mobile Internet environment that includes the wireless network, and then we implement a program using PARSEC simulation language and finally executed the program. Based on the simulation results, we suggest a method that reduce the effect of the retransmission interference.

Magnetic Fields of the Youngest Protostellar System L1448 IRS 2 revealed by ALMA

  • Magnetic fields affect star formation in a broad range of scales from parsec to hundreds au. In particular, interferometric observations and ideal magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) simulations have reported that formation of a rotation-supported disk at the earliest young stellar objects (YSOs) is largely suppressed by magnetic fields aligned to the rotational axis of YSOs: magnetic braking. Our recent ALMA observations toward L1448 IRS 2, which has a rotation detected and its magnetic fields aligned to the rotation axis (poloidal fields) in ~500 au scales, show that the fields switch to toroidal at the center in ~100 au scales. This result suggests that magnetic braking may not be so catastrophic for early disk formation even in YSOs with magnetic fields aligned to the rotational axis.

  • In this study, an aerodynamic shape optimization system was developed to study the optimal shape of airfoil. The system consists of GA (Genetic Algorithm) and CFD code based on the Navier-Stokes equation. Lift-drag ratio is chosen as the object function and optimization is conducted for PARSEC airfoil with nine design variables, which is very efficient in representing the surface geometry of airfoil.

Weak-Lensing Study of Galaxy Cluster PLCKG287.0+32.9

  • Merging galaxy clusters, such as PLCKG287.0+32.9, provide a window into the formation process of the large scale structure of the universe. PLCKG287.0+32.9 is an enormous merging galaxy cluster with mass estimated to be ~10^15 Msun. It hosts a pair of mega-parsec sized radio relics with projected offsets from the X-ray center of approximately 350kpc and 2.7Mpc, suggesting a NW-SE merging scenario with relics originating from two separate passes (Bonafede et al. 2014). A detected radio halo coincides with the center of x-ray emission. We present the motivation for our weak lensing study of the merging galaxy cluster PLCKG287.0+32.9 using recent Subaru optical imaging. We discuss the basics of weak-lensing and the criteria for source selection. In addition, we describe our method of PSF modeling and mass reconstruction.

Airfoil Design for Martian Airplane Considering Using Global Optimization Methodology

  • To design airfoils for novel airplanes, new knowledge of aerodynamics is required. In this study, modified Parametric SECtion (PARSEC) which is a airfoil representation is applied to airfoil design using a multi-objective genetic algorithm to obtain an optimal airfoil for consideration in the development of a Martian airplane. In this study, an airfoil that can obtain a sufficient lift and glide ratio under lower thrust is considered. The objective functions are to maximize maximum lift-to-drag ratio and to maximize the trailing edge thickness. In this way, information on the low Reynolds number airfoil could be extracted efficiently. The optimization results suggest that the airfoil with a sharper thickness at the leading edge and higher camber at the trailing edge is more suitable for a Martian airplane. In addition, several solutions which has thicker trailing edge thickness were found.

BVI PHOTOMETRIC STUDY OF THE OLD OPEN CLUSTER RUPRECHT 6

  • We present a BV I optical photometric study of the old open cluster Ruprecht 6 using the data obtained with the SMARTS 1.0 m telescope at the CTIO, Chile. Its color-magnitude diagrams show the clear existence of the main-sequence stars, whose turn-off point is located around $V{\approx}18.45mag$ and $B-V{\approx}0.85mag$. Three red clump (RC) stars are identified at V = 16.00 mag, I = 14.41 mag and B - V = 1.35 mag. From the mean $K_s-band$ magnitude of RC stars ($K_s=12.39{\pm}0.21mag$) in Ruprecht 6 from 2MASS photometry and the known absolute magnitudes of the RC stars ($M_{K_S}=-1.595{\pm}0.025mag$), we obtain the distance modulus to Ruprecht 6 of $(m-M)_0=13.84{\pm}0.21mag$ ($d=5.86{\pm}0.60kpc$). From the ($J-K_s$) and (B - V ) colors of the RC stars, comparison of the (B - V ) and (V - I) colors of the bright stars in Ruprecht 6 with those of the intrinsic colors of dwarf and giant stars, and the PARSEC isochrone fittings, we derive the reddening values of E(B - V ) = 0.42 mag and E(V - I) = 0.60 mag. Using the PARSEC isochrone fittings onto the color-magnitude diagrams, we estimate the age and metallicity to be: $log(t)=9.50{\pm}0.10(t=3.16{\pm}0.82Gyr)$ and $[Fe/H]=-0.42{\pm}0.04dex$. We present the Galactocentric radial metallicity gradient analysis for old (age > 1 Gyr) open clusters of the Dias et al. catalog, which likely follow a single relation of $[Fe/H]=(-0.034{\pm}0.007)R_{GC}+(0.190{\pm}0.080)$ (rms = 0.201) for the whole radial range or a dual relation of $[Fe/H]=(-0.077{\pm}0.017)R_{GC}+(0.609{\pm}0.161)$ (rms = 0.152) and constant ([Fe/H] ~ -0.3 dex) value, inside and outside of RGC ~ 12 kpc, respectively. The metallicity and Galactocentric radius ($13.28{\pm}0.54kpc$) of Ruprecht 6 obtained in this study seem to be consistent with both of the relations.

변위 히스토리 버퍼를 이용한 명령어 및 데이터 프리페치 기법 (Instructions and Data Prefetch Mechanism using Displacement History Buffer)

  • 본 논문에서는 변위 필드를 이용해 히스토리 레코드를 생성하는 방법과 히스토리 레코드의 기준이 되는 트리거 블록에 우선 순위를 부여하여 효율적인 캐시 교체를 가능하게 하는 하드웨어 프리페치 기법을 제안한다. 히스토리 레코드의 트리거 블록을 기준으로 히스토리를 생성하기 때문에 프로그램의 시퀀스를 고려할 수 있으며, 히스토리를 변위 값으로 저장하기 때문에 트리거 주소와 변위필드에 저장된 값을 더해 빠르게 명령어 또는 데이터 주소를 프리페치 할 수 있다. 또한, 트리거 블록에 우선순위를 부여하고 캐시 교체 정책으로 랜덤 교체 방법을 사용해 캐시 공간이 가득 찼을 때 우선순위가 낮은 블록부터 랜덤하게 교체하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 하드웨어 프리페처의 성능을 평가하기 위해 메모리 분석 시뮬레이터인 gem5와 PARSEC 벤치마크 프로그램을 사용하였다. 그 결과 비트벡터를 이용해 공간영역을 생성하는 기존의 하드웨어 프리페처와 비교해 L1 데이터 캐시의 미스율은 평균 약 44.5% 감소하였고 L1 명령어 캐시의 미스율은 평균 약 31% 감소하였다. 또한 IPC (Instruction Per Cycle)는 평균 약 23.7% 향상을 보였다.

Identifying Young AGNs using the Korean VLBI Network

  • High frequency peakers (HFPs) are promising candidates for young active galactic nuclei (AGNs). Their small physical scale (< 1 kpc) and radio spectrum peaked at high frequency (> 5 GHz) are suggestive that it has been only about $10^2-10^3$ years since a central massive black hole in their host galaxies was launched. Until recently however, long-term monitoring radio observations at frequencies which are high enough to cover the true peak of HFP candidates were rare. Therefore, previous HFP samples are often contaminated by blazars, which are highly variable, hence may show a similar radio spectrum as HFPs depending on the observational epoch. In this work, we challenge to identify genuine young AGNs by monitoring HFP candidates at high radio frequencies. We performed single-dish monitoring of 19 candidates in 18 epochs over 2.5 years at 22 and 43 GHz using the Korean VLBI Network (KVN). Also, using KaVA, a combined array of the KVN and the VERA in Japan, we carried out 22 GHz VLBI observations of two HFPs and one blazar selected from our sample in order to compare their parsec scale (milli-arcsecond scale) morphology. HFPs are expected to have double/triple features, so called compact symmetric objects, which are scaled-down versions of extended radio galaxies, while blazars typically show core-jet morphology. We discuss the properties of AGNs at their very early evolutionary stage based on the results of the KVN and KaVA observations.

센서 네트워크에서 에너지 효율성을 고려한 트리 라우팅 프로토콜 (Energy-aware Tree Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 에너지 효율성과 신뢰성을 설계의 기본 요소로 하여 센서 네트워크를 위한 다양한 라우팅 프로토콜이 제시되었다. 본 논문은 무선 센서 네트워크에서 에너지 효율성을 고려한 트리 라우팅 방법에 관한 것이다. 제안한 기법은 데이터 전달 경로를 노드의 에너지 잔량을 고려하여 선정하게 함으로써 노드의 에너지 소진을 분산시켜 네트워크의 수명을 향상시키고, 상위 부모 노드로 데이터 전달에 실패하였을 경우 우회할 수 있는 후보 부모 정보에서 새로운 부모를 선택하여 데이터를 전달함으로써 데이터 전달의 신뢰성을 제공한다. 제안한 기법의 성능을 분석하기 위해 PARSEC 기반 시뮬레이션 환경을 구성하여 기존의 트리 라우팅과 성능을 비교하였으며, 제안한 기법이 트리 라우팅에 비해 네트워크 수명에 있어 23.5% 개선된 결과를 보인다.
