Nowadays, the high land use, mainly used for urbanization, is affecting runoff loads of non-point pollutants to increase. According to this fact, increasing runoff loads seems like to appear that it contributes to high ratio of pollution loads in the whole the pollution loads and that this non-point source is the main cause of water becoming worse quality. Especially, concentrated pollutants on the impermeable roads run off to the public water bodies. Also the coefficient of runoff from roads is high with a fast velocity of runoff, which ends up with consequence that a lot of pollutants runoff happens when it is raining. Therefore it is very important project to evaluate the quantity of pollutant loads. In this study, I computed the pollutant loadings depending on time and rainfall to analyze characteristics of runoff while first flush storm water and evaluated the runoff time while first flush storm water and rainfall based on the change in curves on the graph. I also computed contribution ratio to identify its impact on water quality of stream. I realized that the management and treatment of first flush storm water effluents is very important for the management of road's non-point source pollutants because runoff loads of non-point source pollution are over the 80% of whole loads of stream. Also according to the evaluation of runoff loads of first flush storm water for SS, run off time was shown under the 30 minute and rainfall was shown under the 5mm which is less than 20% of whole rainfall. These are under 5mm which is regarded amount of first flush storm water by the Ministry of Environment and it is judged to be because run off by rainfall is very fast on impermeable roads. Also, run off time and rainfall of BOD is higher than SS. Therefore I realized that the management of non-point source should be managed and done differently depending on each material. Finally, the contribution ratio of pollutants loads by rainfall-runoff was shown SS 12.7%, BOD 12.7%, COD 15.9%, T-N 4.9%, T-P 8.9%, however, the pollutants loads flowing into the steam was shown 4.4%. This represents that the concentration of non-point pollutants is relatively higher and we should find the methodical management and should be concerned about non-point source for improvement on water quality of streams.
The purpose of this study is to fabricate a sensor module to detect the resistive leakage current (Igr) in real time that occurs to low voltage electric lines and to verify its reliability. In the case of the developed sensor module, wires are inserted into the zero current transformer (ZCT) and current transformer (CT) in advance and then the branch line is connected to the circuit breaker. The measurement result of the resistance of the distribution panel equipped with the developed sensor module shows that the resistance is $0.151m{\Omega}$ between the R and R phases, $0.169m{\Omega}$ between the S and S phases, and $0.178m{\Omega}$ between the T and T phases, respectively. The insulation resistance measured at AC 500 V and 1,000 V is $0.08m{\Omega}$ between the R, S, T and N phases, respectively. Then, the insulation resistance measured at DC 500 V is $83.3G{\Omega}$ between the R, S, T and G terminal, respectively. In addition, the applied withstanding voltage is AC 220 V/380 V/440 V and it was found that characteristics between all phases are good. This study measured the standby power by installing the developed sensor module at the rear of the MCCB and switching the circuit breaker on sequentially. The standby power is 1.350 W when one circuit breaker is turned on, 1.690 W when 2 circuit breakers are turned on, and 4.371 W when 10 circuit breakers are turned on. This study also verified the reliability of the standby power of the distribution panel equipped with the developed sensor module using the Minitab Program (Minitab PGM). Since the analysis shows the statistical average of 1.34627 in the reliable range of normal distribution, standard deviation of 0.001874, AD of 0.554, and P value of 0.140, it is found that the distribution panel equipped with the developed sensor module has high reliability.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality characteristics and antioxidative effect of Yukwa prepared with Lycii fructus powder (LFP). The Yukwas were stored at $50^{\circ}C$ for 40 days. Yukwa dough prepared with 5% LFP demonstrated higher pH and density value compared to the other groups and control. For color values, as more LFP was added, the L-value decreased, whereas the a-value and b-value increased. The hardness of Yukwa made with 7% LFP was the highest among all samples. The results of a sensory evaluation test showed that Yukwas with 5% LFP was most preferable in terms of overall acceptability compared to the others. The acid, peroxide, and thiobarbituric acid values were lower in Yukwa prepared with 5% LFP compared to Yukwa prepared with 3% or 7% LFP, as well as control Yukwa.

The antioxidant activities of ethanolic extracts obtained from medicinal plants (Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, Acanthopanax sessiliflorum Seeman, Pueraria lobata Ohwi, Portulaca oleracea Linne, Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge var. typica Schneider, Euonymus alatus Apterus, Hovenia dulcis Thunberg, Prunus yedoensis Matsumura, Albizzia julibrissin Durazz., Chrysanthemum indicum Linne) were evaluated for total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, DPPH radicals, nitrites, $Superoxide^-$ radicals, $ABTS^+$ radical scavenging activity, and reducing power. Antioxidant capacities were the highest in Prunus yedoensis Matsumura for DPPH radical scavenging activity ($IC_{50}$$5.39{\mu}g/mL$), reducing power (2.72, $A_{700}$), and nitrite scavenging activity ($IC_{50}$$167.94{\mu}g/mL$). Hovenia dulcis Thunberg and Acanthopanax sessiliflorum Seeman were effective for their nitrite scavenging activities (over 90% at 1 mg/mL). The $Superoxide^-$ radical scavenging activity of Prunus yedoensis Matsumura ($IC_{50}$$43.39{\mu}g/mL$) was stronger than tannic acid ($IC_{50}$$46.51{\mu}g/mL$). Five samples (Prunus yedoensis Matsumura, Acanthopanax sessiliflorum Seeman, Hovenia dulcis Thunberg, Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge var. typica Schneider, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi) were effective for their $ABTS^+$ radical scavenging activity (more than 90% at 0.5 mg/mL). These results suggest that the ethanolic extracts of Prunus yedoensis Matsumura could be used as a functional ingredient in food products.
Inhibitory effects of Maclura amboinenesis Bl, one plant used traditionally for the treatment of cancers, on metastatic potential of highly metastatic B16F10 melanoma cells were investigated in vitro. Cell proliferation was assessed using the MTT colorimetric assay. Details of metastatic capabilities including invasion, migration and adhesion of B16F10 melanoma cells were examined by Boyden Chamber invasion and migration, scratch motility and cell attachment assays, respectively. The results demonstrated that n-hexane and chloroform extracts exhibited potent anti-proliferative effects (p<0.01), whereas the methanol and aqueous extracts had less pronounced effects after 24 h exposure. Bioactivity-guided chromatographic fractionation of both active n-hexane and chloroform extracts led to the isolation of two main prenylated xanthones and characterization as macluraxanthone and gerontoxanthone-I, respectively, their structures being identified by comparison with the spectral data. Interestingly, both exhibited potent effective effects. At non-toxic effective doses, n-hexane and chloroform extracts (10 and $30{\mu}g/ml$) as well as macluraxanthone and gerontoxanthone-I (3 and $10{\mu}M$) significantly inhibited B16F10 cell invasion, to a greater extent than $10{\mu}m$ doxorubicin, while reducing migration of cancer cells without cellular cytotoxicity. Moreover, exposure of B16F10 melanoma cells to high concentrations of chloroform ($30{\mu}g/ml$) and geratoxanthone-I ($20{\mu}M$) for 24 h resulted in delayed adhesion and retarded colonization. As insights into mechanisms of action, typical morphological changes of apoptotic cells e.g. membrane blebbing, chromatin condensation, nuclear fragmentation, apoptotic bodies and loss of adhesion as well as cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase with increase of sub-G1 cell proportions, detected by Hoechst 33342 staining and flow cytometry were observed, suggesting DNA damage and subsequent apoptotic cell death. Taken together, our findings indicate for the first time that active n-hexane and chloroform extracts as well as macluraxanthone and gerontoxanthone-I isolated from Maclura amboinensis Bl. roots affect multistep of cancer metastasis processes including proliferation, adhesion, invasion and migration, possibly through induction of apoptosis of highly metastatic B16F10 melanoma cells. Based on these data, M. amboinensis Bl. represents a potential candidate novel chemopreventive and/or chemotherapeutic agent. Additionally, they also support its ethno-medicinal usage for cancer prevention and/or chemotherapy.
Background: Prior studies showed a relationship between serum albumin and the albumin to globulin ratio with different types of cancer. We aimed to evaluate the predictive value of the albumin-globulin ratio (AGR) for survival of patients with lung adenocarcinoma. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 240 lung adenocarcinoma patients. Biochemical parameters before chemotherapy were collected and survival status was obtained from the hospital registry. The AGR was calculated using the equation AGR=albumin/(total protein-albumin) and ranked from lowest to highest, the total number of patients being divided into three equal tertiles according to the AGR values. Furthermore, AGR was divided into two groups (low and high tertiles) for ROC curve analysis. Cox model analysis was used to evaluate the prognostic value of AGR and AGR tertiles. Results: The mean survival time for each tertile was: for the $1^{st}$ 9.8 months (95%CI:7.765-11.848), $2^{nd}$ 15.4 months (95%CI:12.685-18.186), and $3^{rd}$ 19.9 months (95%CI:16.495-23.455) (p<0.001). Kaplan-Meier curves showed significantly higher survival rates with the third and high tertiles of AGR in comparison with the first and low tertiles, respectively. At multivariate analysis low levels of albumin and AGR, low tertile of AGR and high performance status remained an independent predictors of mortality. Conclusions: Low AGR was a significant predictor of long-term mortality in patients with lung adenocarcinoma. Serum albumin measurement and calculation of AGR are easily accessible and cheap to use for predicting mortality in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.

Background: The prognosis of young colorectal cancer (CRC) patients has been addressed by several studies but with contradictory results. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the clinico-pathological features of young Saudi patients with CRC in addition to displaying their survival outcome. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, young CRC patients (${\leq}40$ years) diagnosed between 2007 and 2011 from 4 centres in western Saudi Arabia, were included. Clinico-pathological features, tumor markers, dates of disease relapse and death were collected. Survival parameters were compared with those of older Saudi patients, reported in previous studies. Results: One hundred and sixteen young patients with CRC were identified (32.2% rectal, 67.8% colon). Some 44% were metastatic while 32.7% had stage III at diagnosis. Patients with grade 3 tumors made up 29.4% of the total while 49.5% had positive lymphovascular invasion (LVI), 56% had a lymph node (LN) ratio ${\geq}0.2$ and 40.2% were K-ras mutant. Median disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in non-metastatic cases were 22.8 and 49.6 months respectively with better median DFS in K-ras wild compared to mutant patients (28.5 vs 20.9 months, p=0.005). In metastatic cases, median OS was 19.5 months. These survival outcomes are inferior compared to those of older Saudi patients reported in prior studies. Conclusions: Young CRC patients present more commonly with advanced stage and a high incidence of adverse prognostic factors such as LVI and high LN ratio. Young CRC patients seem to have worse survival compared to older Saudi patients.

Occurrence of Cochlodinium polykrikoides red tides have resulted in considerable economic losses in the aquaculture industry in many countries, and thus predicting the process of C. polykrikoides red tides is a critical step toward minimizing those losses. Models predicting red tide dynamics define mortality due to predation as one of the most important parameters. To investigate the roles of heterotrophic protists in red tide dynamics in the South Sea of Korea, the abundances of heterotrophic dinoflagellates (HTDs), tintinnid ciliates (TCs), and naked ciliates (NCs) were measured over one- or two-week intervals from May to Nov 2014. In addition, the grazing impacts of dominant heterotrophic protists on each red tide species were estimated by combining field data on red tide species abundances and dominant heterotrophic protist grazers with data obtained from the literature concerning ingestion rates of the grazers on red tide species. The abundances of HTDs, TCs, and NCs over the course of this study were high during or after red tides, with maximum abundances of 82, 49, and $35cells\;mL^{-1}$, respectively. In general, the dominant heterotrophic protists differed when different species caused red tides. The HTDs Polykrikos spp. and NCs were abundant during or after C. polykrikoides red tides. The mean and maximum calculated grazing coefficients of Polykrikos spp. and NCs on populations of co-occurring C. polykrikoides were $1.63d^{-1}$ and $12.92d^{-1}$, respectively. Moreover, during or after red tides dominated by the phototrophic dinoflagellates Prorocentrum donghaiense, Ceratium furca, and Alexandrium fraterculus, which formed serial red tides prior to the occurrence of C. polykrikoides red tides, the HTDs Gyrodinium spp., Polykrikos spp., and Gyrodinium spp., respectively were abundant. The maximum calculated grazing coefficients attributable to dominant heterotrophic protists on co-occurring P. donghaiense, C. furca, and A. fraterculus were 13.12, 4.13, and $2.00d^{-1}$, respectively. Thus, heterotrophic protists may sometimes have considerable potential grazing impacts on populations of these four red tide species in the study area.
The effects of salt solution and chlorella on the quality of canned oyster, Crassostrea gigas, were evaluated to obtain basic data regarding the processing of two canned oyster products. In canned oyster processing, the shucked oyster meat was steamed for 20 min and then drained. Then, each can (301-3) was filled with 90 g boiled oyster in 60 mL 1.5% salt solution for the control samples or 30 mL 1.5% salt solution and 30 mL chlorella culture medium for the experimental samples. All canned products were sealed using a vacuum seamer and then sterilized to Fo values of 6-12 min in a steam retort system at 118℃. The viable bacteria count, proximate composition, pH, salinity, yield, volatile basic nitrogen (VBN), amino-nitrogen, thiobarbituric acid (TBA), mineral, color value, free amino acid levels, hardness, and sensory evaluation of the two canned products were measured under various sterilization conditions. There were no significant differences in the physical or chemical factors and little difference in the overall acceptance of the control and experimental samples.

This experiment was designed to examine the effects of supplemental vitamin D on laying performance, metabolic profile and egg quality of hens fed diets containing different fat sources and levels. Lohman strains (n = 480) were assigned to one of 10 diets: basal diet (BD), BD plus 2.5 and 5.0% sunflower oil (SO) or tallow (T) at vitamin D provided $1{\times}$ and $3{\times}$ of the current recommendation. The experiment lasted from week 30 to 44 of age. Each diet was tested in 12 replicate cages of 4 hens. Production, metabolism, and egg quality data were subjected to three-way ANOVA. Both fats decreased feed intake (FI) as compared to BD. Increasing SO and T levels linearly decreased and quadratically increased FI, respectively. The dietary factors did not affect egg production (EP) and egg weight. Vitamin D supplementation increased and decreased EP when diets contained SO and T, respectively. Feed conversion efficiency (FCE) for hens fed SO was lower than for hens fed T. However, increasing T level improved FCE, whereas increasing SO level worsened FCR. Vitamin D supplementation increased serum vitamin D and glucose concentrations. Vitamin D supplementation also caused a decrease and an increase in serum vitamin D concentration when diets contained SO and T, respectively. Serum glucose concentration for hens fed SO was lower than hens fed T. Increasing fat level linearly increased serum triglyceride and VLDL concentrations, regardless of the fat type. Increasing SO level linearly decreased serum cholesterol concentration. Vitamin D supplementation did not alter lipid metabolites. The dietary factors did not affect serum total protein, Ca, and P concentrations. As compared with BD, feeding SO decreased dry tibia and ash weights more than feeding T. Vitamin D supplementation tended to increase dry tibia weight and decrease tibia ash weight. Eggshell strength and thickness, yolk and albumen indexes, and Haugh unit were not responsive to the dietary factors. Eggshell strength quadratically increased with increasing T level. Yolk color for hens fed SO was lower than for hens fed T. The dietary factors did not affect most of yolk fatty acids. Increasing SO level quadratically decreased yolk $C_{18:2}$ concentration. Vitamin D supplementation increased and decreased yolk $C_{18:2}$ concentration when diets contained SO and T, respectively. In conclusion, increasing fat level improved laying performance without altering metabolic profile and egg quality. Vitamin D supplementation had minor alteration effects on laying performance, metabolic profile, and egg quality in response to fat feeding.
