접합부 비선형 거동을 고려한 강구조 비가새 골조의 안정성 (The Stability of Steel Unbraced Frames Considering Nonlinear Behavior of Connections)

  • 강구조 비가새 골조의 접합부로서 반강접합부를 적용하게 되면 접합부의 비선형적인 모멘트-회전각 관계는 강구조 비가새 골조의 거동($P-\Delta$ 효과) 및 안정성에 영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 접합부 비선형 거동이 골조의 거동 및 안정성에 미치는 영향을 2차 비탄성 해석을 통하여 고찰하고, 안정성에 영향을 미치는 주요 인자 및 그 경향들을 분석하였다. 연구 결과 접합부의 비선형 거동은 골조의 안정성에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 주요 영향인자는 접합부의 회전강성, 반강접합부의 적용 위치 등으로 나타났다.

장면전환 탐지와 예측을 통한 비디오 자료의 전송 제어 (Transmission Control of Video Data through Prediction and Shot Transition Detection)

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG 비디오 데이터를 GoP 단위로 분할하여 장면전환 특성을 파악하고 그에 따라 칼만필터를 사용하여 비디오 데이터의 전송량을 예측하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 비디오 데이터의 정확한 장면전환을 파악하기 위해서 압축 도메인에서 고속으로 장면에 대한 정보를 검출하는 알고리즘을 사용하여 급진적 장면전환 유형과 점진적 장면전환 유형으로 분류하였다. 분류된 정보는 칼만필터의 세부 인자로 사용되어 비디오 데이터의 전송량을 예측한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법은 압축 도메인에서 장면전환 탐지와 비디오 데이터의 전송량을 예측하여 처리 시간을 감소시키고자 하였다. 세 종류의 서로 다른 비디오 데이터 911개의 1프레임을 사용한 실험에서 96.2- 97.6%로 전송량을 예측하였다.

Dynamic increase factor for progressive collapse of semi-rigid steel frames with extended endplate connection

  • As an extremely destructive accident, progressive collapse is defined as the spread of an initial local failure from element to element, resulting eventually in the collapse of an entire structure or disproportionately large of it. To prevent the occurrence of it and evaluate the ability of structure resisting progressive collapse, the nonlinear static procedure is usually adopted in the whole structure design process, which considered dynamic effect by utilizing Dynamic Increase Factor (DIF). In current researches, the determining of DIF is performed in full-rigid frame, however, the performance of beam-column connection in the majority of existing frame structures is not full-rigid. In this study, based on the component method proposed by EC3 guideline, the expression of extended endplate connection performance is further derived, and the connection performance is taken into consideration when evaluated the performance of structure resisting progressive collapse by applying the revised plastic P-M hinge. The DIF for structures with extended endplate beam-column connection have been determined and compared with the DIF permitted in current GSA guideline, the necessity of considering connection stiffness in determining the DIF have been proved.

Cloning and Sequencing of a Gene Cluster for the Resistance to Doxorubicin from Streptomyces peucetius subsp. caesius ATCC 27952

  • The doxorubicin resistance locus from Streptomyces peucetius subsp. caesius (the doxorubicin producer, ATCC 27952) has been cloned. The sequence data over 4.4 kb regions reveals the presence of four possible open reading frames (ORFs). ORF2 and ORF3 would encode proteins containing 329 and 283 amino acids, respectively. The protein encoded by ORF2 has two almost identical ATP binding domains with p-glycoprotein, the product of a multidrug resistance gene from tumor cells, and that encoded by ORF3 has several hydrophobic domains suggesting that it is located in the bacterial membrane. These two remarkable similarities of the gene product to p-glycoprotein of mammalian tumor cells suggest that the two proteins may enable bacteria to extrude a variety of toxic agents, including daunorubicin and doxorubicin, by an ATP dependent efflux mechanism analogous to the multidurg resistance protein of cancer cells.

  • In the design of ductile moment-resisting frames (DMRFs) following the strong column-weak beam dsign philosophy, it is desirable that the joint and column remain essentially elastic in order to insure proper energy dissipation and lateral stability of the structure. The joint has been identified as the "weak link" in DMRFs because any stiffness or strength deterioration in this region can lead to substantial drifts and the possibility of collapse due to P-delta effects. Moreover, the engineer is faced with the difficult task of detailing an element whose size is determined by the framing members, but which must resist a set of loads very different from those used in the design of the beams and columns. Four 2/3-scale beam-column-slab joint assemblies were designed according to existing code requirements of ACI 318-89, representing interior joints of DMRFs with reinforced high strength concrete. The influence on aseismic behavior of beam-column joints due to monolithic slab, has been investigated.estigated.

Fuzzy Based Shadow Removal and Integrated Boundary Detection for Video Surveillance

  • We present a scalable object tracking framework, which is capable of removing shadows and tracking the people. The framework consists of background subtraction, fuzzy based shadow removal and boundary tracking algorithm. This work proposes a general-purpose method that combines statistical assumptions with the object-level knowledge of moving objects, apparent objects, and shadows acquired in the processing of the previous frames. Pixels belonging to moving objects and shadows are processed differently in order to supply an object-based selective update. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is able to track the object boundaries under significant shadows with noise and background clutter.

배전용 몰드변압기의 온도특성 파악을 위한 열유동해석 (Thermal Fluid Flow Analysis for Temperature Characterization of Mold Transformer in Distribution Power System)

  • In this paper, the temperature characteristics of mold transformer for the distribution power system have been analyzed by using computational fluid dynamics(CFD). The model has been modeled by coil, cores, insulating materials and frames about 3MVA grade mold transformer and analyzed the temperature distribution of the structure with a heat fluid. The fluid, which is incompressible ideal gas, is analyzed as a turbulent flow phenomenon on the assumption that it is natural cooling of transformer cooling system. Through this study, by examining the temperature distribution and hot-spot of the structure field of the mold transformer, cooling design and temperature distribution information, which are demanded for designing are estimated.

  • Streptomyces albus wild type ATCC 21838 produced salinomycin, polyether antibiotic. To clone genes related salinomycin production, a genomic library was screened using actI as a DNA hybridization probe. pWHM 210 was isolated, which contained an approximately 24 kb of insert DNA. A 3.8 kb region in the 24 kb insert DNA was hybridized to actI and the nucleotide sequence of this region was determinied. Two open reading frames found in the same direction were homologous to genes for $\beta$-keto acyl synthase/acyl transferase and chain length determining factor in type II PKS (polyketide synthase). The genes were components of minimal type II PKS genes, highly conserved and showed the strong simiarity to other type II PKS genes known today.

Accurate Prediction of Real-Time MPEG-4 Variable Bit Rate Video Traffic

  • In this letter, we propose a novel algorithm to predict MPEG-coded real-time variable bit rate (VBR) video traffic. From the frame size measurement, the algorithm extracts the statistical property of video traffic and utilizes it for the prediction of the next frame for I-, P-, and B- frames. The simulation results conducted with real-world MPEG-4 VBR video traces show that the proposed algorithm is capable of providing more accurate prediction than those in the research literature.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for the self-localization of a mobile robot using perspective invariant(Cross Ratio). Most of conventional model-based self-localization methods have some problems that data structure building, map updating and matching processes are very complex. Use of the simple cross ratio can be effective to the above problems. The algorithm is based on two basic assumptions that the ground plane is flat and two parallel walls are available. Also it is assumed that an environmental map is available for matching between the scene and the model. To extract an accurate steering angle for a mobile robot, we take advantage of geometric features such as vanishing points(V.P). Point features for computing cross ratios are extracted robustly using a vanishing point and the intersection points between floor and the vertical lines of door frames. The robustness and feasibility of our algorithms have been demonstrated through experiments in indoor environments using an indoor mobile robot, KASIRI-II(KAist SImple Roving Intelligence).
