Synthesis of $Nd_{2x}Cd_{2-3x}SiO_4$ ($0.01{\leq}x{\leq}0.21$) [S1-S3: x=0.01, 0.11 and 0.21] solid solutions were prepared by solgel method. Powder x-ray diffraction (XRD) results show monoclinic unit cell with space group P21/m. The average crystallite sizes are found to be 20 to 45 nm. The Scanning Electron Microcopy (SEM) images show morphology of the sample is in globular nature. The energy dispersive analysis of x-rays (EDX) and X-ray mapping results confirmed that all the constituent elements of the composites were present and that were distributed in uniformly. The optical absorption band at ~750 nm was due to $^4I_{9/2}{\rightarrow}^4F_{7/2}+^4S_{3/2}$ transition optically active $Nd^{3+}$ ions. Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) lineshapes of S1-S3 at 10, 40, 77 and 300 K show a broad unresolved isotropic lineshapes were observed due to rapid spin lattice relaxation of $Nd^{3+}$.

The purpose of this study is to identify the recent attitude of nurses toward euthanasia. and to provide necessary basic information for on-the-job-training and student education. The subject of this study are 521 nurses working in the hospital attached to university in Seoul. to whom I distributed questionnaires which were made on the basis of the instrument of Tordella & Neutens. from 21. July. 2000 to 27. July. 2000. The collected data were statistically examined through SPSS program and were analysed through Frequency. Means. Factor Analysis. T-test. and ANOVA. The study results are as follows: 1. General characteristics of nurses are in age of average 26.9. in education of junior college graduate $83.7\%$. in both parent alive $85.2\%$. in marital status of single $77.5\%$. in religion of christianity $34.8\%$ against non-religion 38.3%. The term of employment is average 52.7 months and are in various post. The experience of family dying $46.3\%$ and of terminal care $56.8\%\;and\;82.5\%$ are information oriented to euthanasia. 2. The attitude toward euthanasia reveals 3.40 score in average. and is significant in relation to religion among general characteristics (p<.000). 3. Passive euthanasia reveals 2.48 score in average with significance in religion(p<.000), and duty post (p<.046). Natural euthanasia is 4.09 score which is in most characteristics positive direction with significance in information oriented group. Indirect euthanasia reveals 2.98 score and are significant in various group of age (p<.004). both parents alive (p<.005), marital status (p<.000). term of employment (p<.022), duty post (p<.005), and family dying(p<.028). Family commitment is 3.51 score with significance in both parents alive (p<.023) and term of employment (p<.020). Clear definition of euthanasia and analysis of its effects need to be studied in order to improve proper courses of nursing patients with terminal illness.

Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease outbreak in the sebaceous glands within the hair follicle. The proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) causes monocytes to stimulate secretion of inflammatory cytokines. A number of studies proposed the inhibitory effects of P. acnes-mediated inflammation by several natural extracts. However, studies on the effect of Eurya persicifolia Gagnep. (E. persicifolia) extracts on the inflammatory responses by P. acnes have not been explored yet. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effect of E. persicifolia extract in the inflammatory reactions induced by P. acnes. We found that E. persicifolia extract successfully diminished the expression levels of inflammatory mediators such as IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$, and iNOS in P. acnes-activated mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cells. We found that the immunosuppressive effect of E. persicifolia extract in the P. acnes-activated inflammatory signaling is mediated by the regulation of NF-${\kappa}B$ transcriptional activation, which is a key regulator of inflammatory cytokine expression. Our results suggest that E. persicifolia extract held potentials for the treatment of P. acnes by suppressing NF-${\kappa}B$ signaling pathways.

This author tried to find if the size of the frontal sinus can be used as a diagnostic aid to predict the manldibular growth pattern in growing Patients in lateral cephalogram utilizing the fact the the frontal sinus completes its growth in earlier stage but the mandible continues to grow until later. At this study, the 228 samples were divided into 3 groups as skeletal Class I, II, III malocclusions and three indicies(ANB, APDI, Wits) were measured which indicate the mandibular body length and the antero-posterior relationship of maxilla and mandible to evaluate their relations with frontal sinus. And results were obtained as followings 1. The size of frontal sinus is highly related to ANB, APDI, Wits and mandilar body length.(p<0.001) 2. the size of the frontal sinus of the Cl III malocclusion group was on the lateral cephalogram larger than Cl I and Cl II group.

심폐 지구력은 유전인자에 의해 부분적으로 결정되며, 현재까지 이루어진 연구 결과에 의하면 안지오텐신 전환효소 유전자에 존재하는 다형성과 이 형질 사이에 유의한 관련성이 보고되고 있다. 그러나, 이러한 연구는 주로 서양인을 대상으로 수행되었기 때문에 유전적 배경이 다른 아시아 집단에 대해서는 아직까지 이렇다 할 연구 성과가 없는 실정이다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 아시아 집단중에서도 민족적으로 순수한 한국인 집단을 대상으로 안지오텐신 전환효소 유전자에 존재하는 다향성이 한국인 집단에서도 심폐 지구력과 유의한 관련성이 있는 지를 조사하였다. 그러나, 한국인 운동선수군을 대상으로 한 연구에서는 안지오텐신 전환효소 유전자의 다향성이 심폐 지구력을 비롯한 신체 계측치 및 생화학적인 측정치 들과 어떠한 관련성도 나타내지 않았다(P＜0.05). 그러나, 본 연구 대상으로 다양한 종목에서 선발된 운동선수들을 표본으로 하였기 때문에, 단일 종목의 운동 선수군을 대상으로 한 추시가 요구된다.

Hair style takes a large part in emphasizing to the appearance and the effect of image transformation with fashion to the modern people whose competition is appearance in 21 century. According to the development of mass media and the exchange of the life style. Image creation which correspond to T.P.O is needed and style-up is also required in modern costume, as the coordination for special day is routinized. In this study, the expression of a fine and organic line shown as a motive in Art Nouveau style's works is applied to style-up design and a new view sight to the style-up design through the art history is suggested with developing style-up design to satisfy the upgraded customer's requirements. The feminine beauty is appeared as a various image by applying style-up design from Art Nouveau style through this study. and the infinite possibility to the design development can be found with activated motive of Art Nouveau. These Art Nouveau trend will be a foundation to the inspiration of high artistic design and will be helpful to the aesthetic satisfaction of the elegance modern people. Therefore, I hope this study will be a fundamental data for creative development of hair design through the art history which may be forgetting.

In hippocampal morphology Abnormalities, including unilateral or bilateral volume loss, are known to occur in epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, and in certain amnestic syndromes. To detect such abnormalities in hippocampal morphology, we present a method that combines region growing and dynamic contour model to detect hippocampus from MRI brain data. The segmentation process is performed two steps. First region growing with a seed point is performed in the region of hippocampus and the initial contour of dynamic contour model is obtained. Second, the initial contour is modified on the basis of criteria that integrate energy with contour smoothness and the image gradient along the contour. As a result, this method improves fairly sensitivity to the choice of the initial seed point, which is often seen by conventional contour model. The power and practicality of this method have been tested on two brain datasets. Thus, we have developed an effective algorithm to extract hippocampus from MRI brain data.

유럽연합은 1990년대에 접어들면서 미국과의 경제 격차가 점차 확대되자 미국을 따라잡기 위해 리스본 전략을 채택하였다. 이 전략의 목표는 유럽의 정보화를 통한 성장, 고용, 사회적 참여로 요약할 수 있다. 리스본 전략에서 제시된 정보화 모토는 정책과 연구개발을 2개의 기둥으로 하고, 이 두 영역간의 긴밀한 상호협조를 통해 유럽정보화의 시너지를 창출하자는 것이었다. 정책 부문은 리스본 전략에서 출발하여 신 리스본 전략, i2010 전략으로 발전되어 왔으며, 이에 맞추어 연구개발 부문은 FP5, FP6으로 발전되어 오다가 현재는 FP7이 시행되고 있다. 본 고에서는 FP7의 ICT 연구프로그램에서 제안하는 도전과제와 미래기술전략을 소개하는 한편, 그 정책적 시사점을 도출하였다. FP7 ICT 연구프로그램은 유럽이 차세대 ICT 및 그 사용에 있어서 세계 선도 그룹에 들기 위해 극복해야 할 7가지 도전과제를 제안하고 있다. 이들 도전 과제들은 크게 업계의 기술 목표 및 사회경제적 목표 달성을 위한 과제로 이분할 수 있으며, 향후 10년 간의 목표와 성과물을 제시하고 있다. FP7 ICT 연구프로그램 중 '미래 및 새로 부상하고 있는 기술(FET)' 프로젝트는 예상하지 못했던 아이디어와 발전에 효과적으로 대응하기 위하여 '개방형 FET프로젝트'와 '전 방위적 FET 프로젝트'의 두 가지 상호보완적 플랜을 운영하고 있다. 본 고에서는 이들 프로젝트에 대하여 성과목표, 기대효과, 자금지원 및 예산분배계획을 간략하게 소개하였다. 결론부에서는 앞에서의 논의를 토대로 우리나라의 미래 ICT 기술개발 전략 구상시 참조해야 할 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다.

Environmental polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbones (PAHs), which are formed during incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, are widely distributed in our environment. Human exposure to PAHs may occur through smoking, polluted air, food consumption and occupational contact. Urinary naphthols, 1-and 2-naphthol, have been suggested as route -specific biomarkers for exposure to airborne PAHs. Cytochrome p450 2E1 (CYP2E1) is known to be a great importance for the metabolism of organic solvents, which is a precacinogens with small molecular weight. This study describes the metabolic differences between PstI and RsaI polymorphisms (c1 allele: PstI-. RsaI+ ; c2 allele: PstI+, RsaI-) of CYP2E1 5-flanking region by genetically modified HepG2 cells, which overexpress the polymorphic regions. The results of CAT assay and western blot in the c2 allele overexpressed cells have higher activities than the cl allele over-expressing cells. However, the metabolism of naphthalene to 2-naphthol has no difference due to the two genotypes. In this study, we established the CYP2E1 polymorphic allele transduced HepG2 cells to screen susceptibility -differences in PAH exposure. In conclusion, the CYP2E1 polymorphism may hardly induce susceptibility differences in PAH exposure monitoring with urinary naphthols.

In the present work, peak relative efficiency for the energy was obtained and response function was worked out. This study was carried out using the high resolution high efficiency HPGe detector(diameter 78.7 mm, length 86.5 mm) and NaI(Tl) detector for anti-compton. The anti-coincidence of the signals from the two detectors could be used to lessen the Compton effect signal; thus, the $\gamma$-ray energy resolution could be improved. The $\gamma$-ray spectrum was measured at $55^{\circ}$ to the direction of the incident proton beam. Reaction spectrum was obtained from the $^{23}Na$(p, $\gamma$)$^{24}Mg$ reaction at $E_p$ = 1424 keV and $^{27}Al$(p, $\gamma$)$^{28}Si$ reaction at $E_p$ = 992 keV. To accelerate the incident proton which creates the (p, $\gamma$) capture reaction, the 3 MeV Pelletron accelerator at the Tokyo Institute of Technology was used. Response function was worked out by a noble technique. We worked out a response function from 1.2 to 9.4 MeV at intervals of 0.75 MeV.
