연안 도시 대기오염 물질의 농도분포 특성 (Characteristics of Concentration Distribution of Coastal Urban Air Pollutants)

  • This paper aims to find the characteristics of concentration distribution of coastal urban air pollutants. For this purpose, It was used the daily meteorological data and the hourly concentration data for $O_3$and NO$_2$ in Busan metropolitan city from 1994 to 1996. It was investigated the annual and monthly distribution of ozone and nitrogen dioxide concentration at each site in Busan, and also investigated the characteristics of concentration change of air pollutants with time under the sea breeze. As a results, the concentration of nitrogen dioxide and ozone tend to be increased every year and nitrogen dioxide concentration is higher than ozone concentration at all sites in Busan. The concentration of ozone is high in summer season and low in winter season, but the concentration of nitrogen dioxide have a reversed trend. The monthly peak concentration of ozone occurred in April and September, while the monthly minimum concentration of nitrogen dioxide occurred in August. Their trend were identified by sites near the coastline than sites stands apart from the coastline. The sea breeze occurred annual mean 81 day in Busan from 1994 to 1996. The main wind direction of sea breeze was classified into southwesterly and southeasterly. In case of southwesterly, It was pronounced the south wind and southwest wind. In case of southeasterly, the occurrence frequency of east wind was high. Especially, the concentrations of urban air pollutants, such as ozone and nitrogen dioxide, were high on time which the sea breeze flow, and the areas that ozone concentration was high moved from outside part to central part of city with time. In costal urban such as Busan, the wind direction of sea breeze is influenced the change of ozone and nitrogen dioxide concentration on time which the sea breeze flow at each site and also influenced the change of air pollutants concentration of sites on the pathway of sea breeze.

  • In order to study the degree of improved air quality as an outcome of the action plan of Atmospheric Environment Improvement in Gimhae, Gyeongnam Province, we investigated the status and trends of air pollutant before and after the plan. Nitrogen dioxide and ozone, both classified as hazardous substances, were closely monitored with particular attention. The level of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, fine particles and ozone (but for carbon monoxide) was decreased after the plan was implemented. The number of days on which ozone exceeded the National Ambient Air Quality Standard has decreased, but the level was still often exceeded. The level of nitrogen dioxide did not surpass until the 2006 standard, but when the revised 2007 standard was implemented, it exceeded 80% of some standards. The yearly level of ozone has decreased since the plan was introduced. The concentration of nitrogen dioxide, however, has reduced in high order area while increased in low order area.

이산화질소-오존을 이용한 톨루엔의 니트로화 반응 (Nitration of Toluene with NO2-O3)

  • 방향족 화합물의 니트로화 반응에 있어서 현재 산업적으로 쓰이는 진한 질산-진한 황산의 혼산 공정은 막대한 양의 폐산 발생으로 인한 폐수 문제와 강산 조건으로 인해 작업 과정에 문제가 많다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 혼산을 사용하지 않고 톨루엔을 니트로화 시키는 연구를 실시하였다. 이산화질소와 오존을 함께 사용하였으며, 산촉매로 진한 질산을 첨가할 경우 반응성이 증대될 뿐만 아니라, 이산화질소의 양으로 니트로화 정도를 조절할 수 있었다. 얼음 중탕에서 6당량의 이산화질소를 톨루엔과 함께 넣고 2당량/시의 유속으로 오존을 불어넣을 경우 2시간 내에 92 mole% 이상까지 디니트로화 반응을 진행시킬 수 있었다. 모노니트로화 반응의 경우 3당량의 진한 질산과 3당량의 이산화질소를 넣고, 1.5당량/시의 유속으로 오존을 불어넣을 경우 30분만에 반응이 완결되었다. 이 방법은 방향족 화합물의 니트로화 반응에서 심각한 환경문제를 야기하는 기존의 혼산 공정을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

통계분석을 이용한 광주지역 대기오염도 (An Assessment of Air Quality Using Statistical Analysis in Gwangju Area)

  • We investigate changing characteristics and concentration distribution of ambient air quality using data from which obtained local ambient air monitoring network and local meterological measuring sites in Gwangju area from January to December in 2003. Sulfur dioxide ($SO_2$) showed that increase from 8 AM and decrease in 6 PM but, it was not drastically changed concentration. it also 0.010 ppm in 1995 from at this time it's decrease step by step and than some constant in year 2001 to 2003. Nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) concentration was showed highest peak in 10 AM and increase again at 6 PM. And also it showed peak concentration (0.026 ppm) in 2001 and decreased from after that times. Ozone was showed peak concentration in 1 PM and Nitrogen dioxide was ditto in 10 AM from this data, we can conclude that this two article ws showed chemical reaction by 3 to 5 hours. There was no case of Ozone alarm in Gwangju area since 1995, but it showed highest ozone concentration (over 0.070 ppm) in May and June of the year and 2 to 4 PM of the day and sometimes it showed increase at the dawn. Ozone product optimum condition was that air temperature is over $25^{\circ}C$, no rain and increase solar radiation (over $20MJ/m^2$) and no wind or below 2.0 m/s wind speed.

부산지역 오존 및 이산화질소 농도의 공간분포해석에 따른 대기오염측정망 배치연구 (A Study on Allocation of Air Pollution Monitoring Network by Spatial Distribution Analysis of Ozone and Nitrogen Dioxide Concentrations in Busan)

  • In this study, methodologies for the rational organization of air pollution monitoring network were examined by understanding the characteristics of temporal and spatial distribution of secondary air pollution, whose significance would increase hereafter. The data on $O_3$ and $NO_2$ concentrations during high ozone period in 1998~1999 recorded at the nine air pollution monitoring station in Busan were analysed using principal component analysis (PCA) and cumulative semivariogram. It was found that the ozone concentration was deeply associated with the daily emission characteristics or the $O_3$ precusors, and nitrogen dioxide concentration largely depends on the emission strength of regional sources. According to the spatial distribution analysis of ozone and nitrogen dioxide in Busan using cumulative semivariograms, the number of monitoring stations for the secondary air pollution can be reduced in east-west direction, but reinforced in north-south direction to explain the spacial variability. More scientific and rational relocation of air pollution monitoring network in Busan would be needed to investigate pollution status accurately and to plan and implement the pollution reduction policies effectively.

위성 기반 HCHO/NO2 비율을 통한 국내 대류권 오존 민감도 특성 분석 (Characteristic Analysis of Tropospheric Ozone Sensitivity from the Satellite-Based HCHO/NO2 Ratio in South Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 대류권 오존과 전구체인 nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs)의 광화학반응 관계를 살펴보고자, Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI)와 TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument(TROPOMI)의 nitrogen dioxide (NO2), formaldehyde (HCHO), OMI/Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) tropospheric column ozone (TCO), Airkorea 지상측정 ozone (O3) 자료를 분석하였다. OMI 위성자료를 이용하여 2006년부터 2020년까지 장기 변화 경향을 살펴보면 TCO는 동북아시아 지역 전체적으로 증가하는 추세를 보였으며, NO2는 꾸준히 감소하고 HCHO는 계속해서 증가하는 경향성을 보였다. 또한 오존 민감도의 지표인 formaldehyde nitrogen dioxide ratio (FNR)은 점점 증가하고 있으며, 이는 VOC-limited 영역이 감소하고 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구는 한국 지역 오존의 지속적인 증가 원인을 밝히기 위해서 최근 4년 기간(2019~2022년)의 TROPOMI FNR과 지상 측정 O3를 이용하여 국내 오존 생성 민감도 분석을 진행하였다. 기존 선행연구들과 동일하게 국내 대도시 지역에서 VOC-limited 및 Transitional 영역이 나타났으며, 그 외에도 국내 주요 발전소가 위치한 지역에서 VOC-limited 영역이 나타났다. VOC-limited 영역, 즉 NOx가 과도하게 포화되어 있는 영역에서는 NOx 배출 감소가 오히려 적정 반응을 약화시켜 국내 오존 농도 증가를 유도했을 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 VOC-limited 영역이 나타나는 지역에서 오존 농도를 감소시키기 위해서는 NOx의 배출보다 단기적으로 VOC 배출을 감소시켜야 함을 시사한다.

  • Non-thermal plasma technology has many applications in various areas. One of the applications is regenerating diesel particulate filter (DPF). DPF is a widely applied device to control the particulate emission of diesel engines. But it needs periodic removal of clogged soot for the smooth running of engine. Conventional high-temperature removal processes easily leads to the breakage of DPF. Herein, low-temperature plasma formed in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor was used to form active oxidants such as ozone and nitrogen dioxide. Experimentally, the effects of discharge power and frequency on the performance of DBD reactor were studied. Two oxidants, $O_3$ and $NO_2$, were synthesized and used for incinerating soot in the used DPF. Performances of the two oxidants on the reduction of soot were compared, and it was found that $NO_2$ is more effective than $O_3$ for getting rid of soot

MONNTORING AIR QUALITY AND ACIDDEPOSITION IN SOUTHERN U.S.

  • Atmospheric monitoring capabilities were established in 1988 by the University of Florida at Duke forest, near Durham. NC: Cary forest, near Gainesville, FL: and Austin forest, near Nacogdoches, TX. Continuous (hourly averaged) measurements of air quality (ozone, nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide) and meteorological variables were made at these three low elevation (< 200 meters), rural locations in the southeastern U.S. for more than three years. During the same period at these sites wet and dry acid deposition samples were collected and analyzed on an event and weekly basis, respectively The monitoring locations were selected to determine actual atmospheric exposure indices for southern pine species in support of on-site surrogate exposure chamber studies conducted by Southern Commercial Forest Research Cooperative (SCFRC) investigators. Daily and quarterly averaged ozone maxima were higher (55 ppb) at the northernmost site in the network (Duke forest) in the second and third quarters (spring and summer seasons) and lower (35 ppb) in the first and fourth quarters (winter and fall seasons), when compared to ozone levels at the two southernmost sites (Cary and Austin forests). Seasonal ozone levels at the latter two sites were similar Nitrogen oxieds and sulfur dioxide levels were insignificant (< 5 ppb) most of the time at all sites, although soil emissions of NO at two sites were found to influence nighttime ozone concentrations. Typical maximum quarterly and annual aggregate ozone exposure indices were significantly higher at Duke forest (92.5/259 ppm-hr) than those values observed at the two southern sites (65.6/210 ppm-hr). Acid deposition (wet and dry) components concentrations and deposition fluxes observed at the Duke forest, NC piedmont site, were generally greater, dependent on site and season, than corresponding variables measured at either of the two southern coastal plain sites (Cary and Austin forests). Acid deposition variables observed at the latter two sites were remarkably similar, both qualitatively and quantitatively, although the sites were located 1300 km apart. A comparison of deposition fluxes of elemental nitrogen (NO3, NH4') and sulfur (5042-, SO3) components in wet and dry forms indicated that wet deposition accounts for approximately 70% of the total nitrogen and 73% of the total sulfur input on an annual equivalent basis at all sites.

서울시의 대기오염과 일별 사망자 수의 관련성에 대한 시계열적 연구 (Air Pollution and Daily Modality in Seoul)

  • 대기오염이 인체에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 분석하기 위하여 1991년부터 1995년까지의 서울시 사망자료와 대기오염 자료를 general additive Poisson model 을 사용하여 분석하였다. 우리 나라에서도 외국의 연구 결과와 마찬가지로 대기 오염 물질의 증가가 사망자 수의 증가에 유의하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 평가되었다. 특히 본 연구에서 나타난 특성은 일반적으로 많이 알려진 분진에 의한 영향 보다는 오존에 의한 영향이 두드러진다는 것이다. 오존은 100ppb가 증가할 때 마다 사망자 수를 3-10% 증가시키는 것으로 평가되었다. 즉 오존주의보가 발령될 때마다 서울시에서는 많게는 평소보다 10%정도의 추가적인 사망이 발생하는 것으로 추정된다. 이러한 연구결과는 우리 나라의 대기오염 양상이 분진과 $SO_2$ 중심의 '런던스모그'형에서 오존과 $NO_2$ 등에 의한 광화학적 스모그로 바뀌고 있는 사실을 감안할 때 시사하는 바가 매우 크다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 앞으로는 병원입원율, 또는 응급실 내원환자수에 대한 오존의 영향을 평가할 수 있는 연구들이 이어져야 할 것으로 생각되며, 더불어 오존 오염을 감소시킬 수 있는 구체적인 정책들이 시급히 시행되어야 할 것으로 생각된다.

경기도 안양시 오존농도의 시계열모형 연구 (Analysis of Time Series Models for Ozone Concentration at Anyang City of Gyeonggi-Do in Korea)

  • The ozone concentration is one of the important environmental issue for measurement of the atmospheric condition of the country. This study focuses on applying the Autoregressive Error (ARE) model for analyzing the ozone data at middle part of the Gyeonggi-Do, Anyang monitoring site in Korea. In the ARE model, eight meteorological variables and four pollution variables are used as the explanatory variables. The eight meteorological variables are daily maximum temperature, wind speed, amount of cloud, global radiation, relative humidity, rainfall, dew point temperature, and water vapor pressure. The four air pollution variables are sulfur dioxide $(SO_2)$, nitrogen dioxide $(NO_2)$, carbon monoxide (CO), and particulate matter 10 (PM10). The result shows that ARE models both overall and monthly data are suited for describing the oBone concentration. In the ARE model for overall ozone data, ozone concentration can be explained about 71% to by the PM10, global radiation and wind speed. Also the four types of ARE models for high level of ozone data (over 80 ppb) have been analyzed. In the best ARE model for high level of ozone data, ozone can be explained about 96% by the PM10, daliy maximum temperature, and cloud amount.
