  • Purpose: The surfaces and compositions of rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses were analyzed with the consistent methods, and the basic informations for the composition design of lens materials were suggested. Methods: The bulk structures were analyzed by using Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), the compositions of surface components were observed by using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), the surface morphology and roughness were observed using atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the wettabilities were estimated by the surface wetting angles. The relations and trends of those results were analyzed. Results: The high oxygen permeability RGP lenses showed the trend that the fluorine decreases and the silicon increases. As the silicon and fluorine contents increased, the carbon and oxygen contents of RGP lens materials decreased at a constant ratio. The decreasing ratio of the carbon contents was three times larger than the decreasing ratio of oxygen contents. The composition of the surface treated lens was far from these tendency line. When the silicon contents increased, the rough surface was formed with the cohered particles. When the fluorine contents increased, the rough surface was formed with the deep flaws. The surface roughness increased and then wettabilities decreased as the silicon and fluorine contents increased. For the surface roughness changes, the increasing ratio of the silicon contents was two times larger than the increasing ratio of fluorine contents. The surface of RGP lens materials appeared the hydrophobic character of which the wettabilities decreased when the roughnesses increased. Conclusions: The surfaces and compositions of RGP contact lenses were measured by the same methods. Those results and relationships were compared and analysed. It is considered that these research results will be applied with the basic data for the composition design of lens materials.

  • Tidal variations of various chemical constituents in the laver bed sea waters in Wan Do Gun were determined over one spring tidal cycle from Oct. 1968 to Feb. 1969. Total ranges and means of the contents at Pyung-il Do and Wan Do are as follows. Although the average monthly variations of each content at Pyung-il Do were similar to those at Wan Do, most of the contents at Pyung-il Do were at a slightly higher level than at Wan Do. The values of silicate-silicon, phosphate- phosphorus and soluble iron, however, showed high levels at Wan Do. Chlorinity, magnesium, calcium, dissolved oxygen, silicate-silicon and phosphate-phosphorus contents increased from Oct. 1968 to Feb. 1969, though the content of soluble iron decreased before December and slightly increased in January and February. The average monthly variations of ammonia-nitrogen and nitrate-nitrogen contents were irregular. The nitrite-nitrogen content appeared in trace amounts in the months with a comparatively high water temperature, i.e., October and November, but in midwinter it was undetected. The ranges of the tidal variations of the contents of each chemical constituent were not significantly wide, though the contents varied excessively by the hour, and this may show the irregularity of the water quality in Wan Do Gun coastal area. As a rule, no regular tidal variation of the chlorinity was observed except slightly decreased value at ebb tide at Wan Do. In general, although the pattern of the variations of calcium and magnesium contents were similar to that of the chlorinity, no definite relationships between these constituents and chlorinity were observed. Tidal variations of the dissolved oxygen content, nutrient salts and soluble iron were irregular.

  • Flavor stability of cooking oils such as rice bran oil, double fractionated palm olefin and soybean oil were determined by headspace analysis using gas chromatography. In the headspace, the contents of volatile compounds, oxygen and hydrogen were measured. The hydrogen content in the headspace correlated well with the contents of volatile compound (r > 0.95). Therefore, it is proposed that a single measurement of hydrogen and oxygen is used as a index of flavor stability of cooking oils instead of separate measurement of volatile compounds and oxygen. which have conventionally been used.

  • In this paper, we have measured the oxygen contents by FTIR in silicon wafer various process technology(slicing, lapping, polishing). The measured data are also compared with the data of etching process(KOH, Bright etching). Also we have measured the surface morpology in backside silicon wafer after etching treatment and etch pit density due to OISF after 4 step high temperature annealing process with optical microscope.

  • This study is a part of the project to identify water-quality degradation mechanism due to Fe and Mn in the river-bank infiltration system in the Changwon city, Kyungsangnam-Do. Results of hydrogeochemical logging indicated that the matrix of the river bank affects groundwater quality, probably related with the hydraulic conductivities of the different layers of bank deposits. Electric conductivity logging data clearly show various layers of groundwater flows. Further studies are necessary to identify mechanisms of increasing dissolved oxygen contents with depths at some monitoring wells.

  • MATERIAL AND PROCESS VARIABLES THAT STRONGLY AFFECT THE CORROSION RESISTANCE OF PA4 STAINLESS STEELS, INCLUDE : ALLOY COMPOSITION, POWDER CLEANLINESS, NITROGEN, OXYGEN AND GARBON CONTENTS, CHROMIUM DEPLETION DUE TO SURFACE EVAPORATION AND SINTERED DENSITY. THE OPTIMUM PROCESS PARAMETERS FOR DELUBRICATION AND SINTERING THAT RESULT IN LOWEST LEVELS OF NITROGEN, OXYGEN AND CARBON AND MINIMUM LEVELS OF CHROMIUM DEPLETION WILL BE PRESENTED, FOR A NUMBER OF AUSTENTIC AND FERRITIC STAINLESS STEELS. THE EFFECT OF SINTERED DENSITY ON THE CORROSION RESISTANCE OF BOTH AUSTENITIC AND FERRITIC GRADES OF STAINLESS STEEL WILL ALSO BE COVERED.

  • In this paper, the wireless transmission module is developed to transmit oxygen saturation(SpO2) signal, acquired from bio-signal measuring module, to PC. This wireless transmission module is designed with closed type protocol instead of open type protocol such as a zigbee or a bluetooth, considering of the security of personal medical informations. The display software is also developed to display transmitted SpO2 signals by various type data and graph without information loss for a emergency transfer.

  • The purpose of study is to evaluate the effects of physical parameters on diesel biodegradation in diesel contaminated soil. The parameters applied are concentration, temperature, moisture contents, electron acceptor(O$_2$). The results of this study showed that diesel were degraded faster at high temperature and moisture contents than at low temperature and moisture content. However concentration effect study indicates that diesel were more faster degraded at low concentration than at high concentration. The results of electron acceptor test showed concentration of oxygen did not affect the biodegradation rate of diesel in oxygen condition(10, 20%) of this study.
