외식업 경영주의 직업만족도 및 경영의식 조사연구 - 경남지 역을 중심으로 - (Job Satisfaction and Business Attitude of Restaurant Owners - Focused Mainly in the Gyeone-nam Area -)

  • The purpose of this research was to analyze the job satisfaction and business attitudes of restaurant owners in order to explore solutions for improving restaurant management. The results were as follows : 1) The motive for starting a restaurant business was vocational aptitude \longrightarrow possibilities \longrightarrow good income : 2) In terms of job satisfaction, most respondents were satisfied with both the work itself and the income. It was also observed that the younger owners were more satisfied with their jobs than the older owners : 3) Increased costs, including labor and food costs, was indicated as the biggest problem in restaurant management. Respondents also perceived labor shortage as one of the most difficult problems. Men were more likely than women to consider the following problems as being more serious: rent, financial problems, taxes, regulation restrictions, menu development and customer complaints. It was found that as the size of the restaurants grew, the respondents perceived the shortage of labor as the hardest part of running a business : 4) Respondents agreed that employing good foodservice workers was the most important part of foodservice management. Owners also believed that they needed more research time for menu and service development 5) To be successful, the restaurant owners paid the most careful attention to food taste. Service, sanitation, and menu development were also emphasized. Respondents stressed the focus on service, good relationships, diligence, and faithfulness in order to be a good restaurant owner. The results of this research suggest that restaurant owners should have more professional conscientiousness to succeed in their own businesses, as well as improve the quality of the foodservice industry. Other important aspects related to the overall improved quality of the foodservice industry are: the continuation of government support, the enlargement of educational opportunities and greater respect for foodservice employees. 소상공인 창업자의 심리적 탈진, 일-가정 갈등, 사업운영 불안에 따른 상담요구 분석 (Analysis of Psychological Counseling Requirement of Small Business Owners according to Psychological Exhaustion, Work-Family Conflicts, and Business-Related Anxiety)

  • 본 연구는 소상공인 창업자가 겪고 있는 심리적 탈진감, 일-가정 갈등, 사업운영 불안이 상담요구에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 2016년 1월 1일부터 1월 30일까지 5주간 충남지역에서 소상공업(도 소매업, 음식 숙박업, 서비스업, 제조업)에 종사하는 소상공인을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 설문지는 총 100부를 배포하고 전량을 회수하여 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 분석에는 SPSS v22를 사용하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 소상공인 창업자의 대부분은 상담을 받은 경험이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구 대상의 일반적 특성은 심리적 탈진에서 집단 간 차이를 보이지 않았다. 셋째, 사업 기간이 짧을수록 상담요구가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 소상공인 창업자의 지원을 위한 상담 서비스에 대해 적극적인 홍보 노력이 필요하다는 분석이 나왔다. 다섯째, 소상공인 창업자들을 지원하기 위해서는 정서와 같은 심리 내적 요인에 대한 상담과 함께 배우자와 자녀 관련 갈등에 대한 상담 지원이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 소상공인들이 가정의 건강은 물론 지속적인 사업 성장을 위해 상담 서비스가 유용한 도구가 될 수 있을 것이라는 결론에 도달하도록 해준다.

Study on the Need of Developing Manuals for Visual Merchandising for Traditional Market: Focusing on the Korean Rice Cake Shop

  • Purpose - Korean traditional markets are falling behind the times, because they have not met the demands of social changes including: an overall improvement in standards of living, shift in purchasing form and propagation of cars. It is one of the most indigenous and conventional foods of Korea, taking a seat far in the corner of Korean traditional culture. Research design / data / methodology - Korean traditional rice cakes however have their limits. They are produced and sold by independent shop owners who cannot compete with the brand power of franchise organizations. The leadership of adminstration is needed for these shop owners particularly in visual merchandising related to interior design and display. Results - Additionally, the advent of major company-run rice cake cafe adds fresh fuel to the problem in addition to small but luxurious packaging. Small business owners need packaging technology for overall quality improvement of sales of rice cakes. Additional help is needed with the mode of packing to promote sales and win consumer confidence. Conclusions - Further assistance with marketing for seasonal displays is needed as well as teaching business owners how to read graphic data. Regular specialized education for visual merchandising of rice cakes could help independent market owners win the competition against franchise-based organizations.

자작농(自作農)과 소작농(小作農)의 경영성과(經營成果) 비교(比較) -충남지역(忠南地域) 현금수지분석(現金收支分析)- (Comparision of Farm Management between Land Owners and Tenants -Cash Income and Expenditure Analysis in Chungnam Province-)

  • This paper aims at identifying the positive economic effects of the tenant system. Increasing numbers of tenant farms is one of the characteristic aspects of Korean agriculture. They have increased 3.7 percent annually since 1960. At the end of 1985, 64.7 percent of the Korean farmers leased partly or entirely the farm land which they managed, and 30.5 percent of the total arable area was cultivated under the tenant system. To find out the difference in performance of management between land owners and tenants, 600 farm households were selected as samples throughout Chungnam province. Among those sampled were 300 land owners and 300 tenants. Tenants defined this paper include not only full tenants but also part tenants. The results of this study are summarized as; First, rice is the main income resource of tenant farms. Due to their rental charges, the marketable surplus of farm products might be lower than that of land owners. Whereas 40 percent of the landowners income is from rice production, the tenants income from rice production is 43 percent. Second, tenants continue to depend on more agricultural wage incoms and more double crop incomes in paddy fields than land owners. Third, like most poor people in the third world, they have maximized their incomes and minimized their expenditures by saving management costs. Finally, there was no interlinking between landlords and tenants especially related to credit supports. Most farmers in the surveyed area have met their credit requirements from agricultural cooperatives.

판매 및 서비스업에 종사하는 소상공인의 업무특성 및 건강수준 (Health and Job Characteristics of Sales and Service Workers in Micro-Enterprises)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the job characteristics and health status of sales and service workers at micro-enterprises. Methods: Multivariate analyses were conducted using data on respondents to the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey who were business owners (7,572 persons) or employees (3,317) working in sales or service positions at micro-enterprises. Results: Among those analyzed, business owners were found to experience worse health conditions than employees. Business owners also differed from workers in terms of job characteristics. More than employees, they engaged in tiring or painful postures that negatively affected subjective health condition, experience of muscle pain, and experience of depression or anxiety. While employees' health was negatively affected by dealing with angry customers, the health status of business owners was negatively affected even by dealing with ordinary customers. Conclusions: These results show that the owners of micro-enterprises were in a more vulnerable state of health rather than their employees. In order to address this, it is necessary to correct work posture and reduce the stresses that come from customers.

Risk Tolerance of Small-to-Medium Enterprise Owners and Operators Towards Capital Markets: Evidence from the Philippines

  • The purpose of this research was to determine the degree to which Small-to-Medium Enterprise (SME) owners and operators in Mountain Province were willing to take on financial risk to invest in the capital markets as a potential additional source of income, as well as the extent to which these five indicator variables-particularly their income, expenses, financial goals, liquid cash, and insurance coverage-were influenced by demographic factors. The study used a quantitative approach and employed a descriptive survey research method. The results show that the SME Owners and Operators in Mountain Province have minimal knowledge of capital market investments which makes them moderate investors with a neutral level of financial risk tolerance toward capital market investment. Their marital status, net income, and educational attainment significantly influence their financial risk tolerance level. The respondents also believe that engaging in the capital markets will grow their businesses. Further, the extent of influence of Income, Expenses, Liquid Cash, and Insurance Cover on the financial risk tolerance of the SME owners and operators in Mountain Province a great extent; thus, making them careful in investing in the capital markets, and it is primarily affected by their Net Income. Consequently, the financial goals of SME owners and operators in Mountain Province have a vital role in their financial risk tolerance level.

Bayesian Theorem-based Prediction of Success in Building Commissioning

  • In recent years, building commissioning has often been part of a standard delivery practice in construction, particularly in the high-performance green building market, to ensure the building is designed and constructed per owner's requirements. Commissioning, therefore, intends to provide quality assurance that buildings perform as intended by the design and often helps achieve energy savings. Commissioning, however, is not as widely adopted as its potential benefits are perceived. Owners are still skeptical of the cost-effectiveness claims by energy management and commissioning professionals. One of the issues in the current commissioning practice is that not every project is guaranteed to benefit from the commissioning services. This, coupled with its added cost, the commissioning service is not acquired with great acceptance and confidence by building owners. To overcome this issue, this paper presents a unique methodology to enhance owner's predicting capability of the degree of success of commissioning service using the Bayesian theorem. The paper analyzes a situation where a future building owner wants to use a pre-commissioning in an attempt to refine the success rate of the future commissioned building performance. The author proposes the Bayesian theorem based framework to improve the current commissioning practice where building owners are not given accurate information how much successful their projects are going to be in terms of energy savings from the commissioning service. What should be provided to the building owners who consider their buildings to be commissioned is that they need some indicators how likely their projects benefit from the commissioning process. Based on this, the owners can make better informed decisions whether or not they acquire a commissioning service.

  • This study examines the real states of family businesses through the interview to the owners and their family members of 15 family businesses. Contents of the interview are starting process, goal and long-run plan, marketing, human resource management and financial management. Many owners usually start their business because of unemployment or shortage of job opportunity. So they dont have an business experience or management skill. And owners act passively in sales because they think the sales area is restricted and their stores are well-known. Family members, especially housewives, suffer role conflict and dissatisfaction because there are no rules on wage and responsibility. And many owners use the resource of household to business and vice versa. This is an advantage of family business in the viewpoint of effective use of resource, but it is a confusion of resources in the viewpoint of financial management.

  • Recently, despite of the effects of international Coordination and cooperation to prevent piracy, piracy is on an increasing trend every year. Such circumstances may have a bad effect on the sound development of world economy by means of trade in sea as well as treat to the safety of crews and safe operation of ships. Finally, Modern maritime piracy has become one of the major threats to safety at sea. We having Cargo-owners or Ship-owners attacked by piracy, it causes enormous economic losses. Therefore, Ship-owners and Cargo-owners insure Cargo Insurance, Hull Insurance and P&I Insurance to indemnity of losses which is caused by piracy. The Purpose of this paper was to explain the losses caused by piracy and studying the limits of the possibility of indemnity in the Cargo Insurance, Hull Insurance and P&I Insurance.

Metadata model-centered cost management app for small business owners in the restaurant business in O2O environment

  • In this paper, we propose a system that allows small business owners focusing on the restaurant business to easily understand the management situation, and to manage the operation and management centering on the cost of food materials and profits and losses. In general, the metadata structure is different depending on the POS system, so it is necessary to first develop a standardized metadata model for a food material cost management system for small business owners in various industries. For that reason, the system proposed in this paper was applied to the cost management app by referring to the development of a data model using the metadata standard. In addition, in order to implement a cost profit/loss management system for small business owners in the restaurant industry, it was designed to support standardized metadata models from various types of POS systems, and is a hybrid app that can support a smart environment.
