This research aims to discover various aspects of the user studies and the research in practice and also to propose collaboration methods by empirical analysis of the data. To determine the application applicability of the user studies in other subject areas, the degree of keyword overlap between the user studies and the User Experience (UX), one of the research in practice discipline, was measured. The quantitative information science methods including simple frequency analysis were applied to more than ten thousand published papers to generate the network mapping and ranking as well as comparative analysis by time. The analysis result showed that there were slightly lesser overlap between the user studies and the UX in the domestically published articles than the international ones. It also revealed that there is a relationship between the actual occurrences of collaboration and the keyword overlap. The temporal analysis showed that there is increasingly more keyword overlap between two disciplines and thus it is possible to predict the active convergence in the future.

This study focuses on the determination of optimal photographing angle and overlapping ratio for automatic image stitching system using a non-metric camera module with motorized head. Photographing overlap was calculated considering the angle of view on different kinds of lenses and moving angle of motorized head per each option, and optimal photographing angle and overlapping ratio could be determined through the experimental result using the operating time, data volume and performance of image stitching. Through this experiment, we could find that it was effective to take a picture with $36^{\circ}$ of interval(33.82% of overlap) in vertical direction and $24^{\circ}$ or $30^{\circ}$ of interval(36.51% or 20.63% of overlap) in horizontal direction using 35mm lens for automatic image stitching system.
Two-row overlap pile wall, currently under development for use in deep excavations, is a novel retaining structure designed to perform itself as a cutoff wall as well as a high-stiffness wall by constructing four overlapping piles arranged in zigzag manner at a time using a tetra-axis auger. This wall has a relatively complex cross-section, compared with other types of pile wall, which would make it difficult to determine design parameters related to cross-section. In this study, a flexural rigidity equation has been derived by analyzing both theoretically and statistically various wall cross-sections with different pile diameters and overlap lengths. The flexural rigidity equation was found to show the maximum error rate of 3%.
Background: Sika deer, Cervus nippon, were originally introduced to South Korea from Japan and Taiwan for commercial farming purposes. Unfortunately, they were released into the wild during religious events and have since begun to impact the native ecosystem and species endemic to South Korea. The study of activity patterns can improve our understanding of the environmental impact of non-native species and their association with sympatric species. Using camera traps, we studied the diel and seasonal activity patterns of non-native sika deer and quantified the temporal overlap with sympatric mammalian species in the Muljangori-oreum wetlands of Hallasan National Park, South Korea. Results: A total of 970 trap events were recorded for five mammalian species from nine locations during the camera-trap survey. Siberian roe deer (Capreolus pygargus tianschanicus) had the highest number of recorded events (72.0%), followed by sika deer (Cervus nippon) (16.2%), wild boar (Sus scrofa) (5.0%), Asian badger (Meles leucurus) (4.5%), and the Jeju weasel (Mustela sibirica quelpartis) (2.0%). Sika deer had bimodal activity patterns throughout the year, with peaks throughout the spring-autumn twilight, and day and night time throughout the winter. Relating the daily activity of sika deer with other mammalian species, roe deer expressed the highest degree of overlap (Δ4 = 0.80) while the Asian badger demonstrated the lowest overlap (Δ4 = 0.37). Conclusions: Our data show that sika deer are a crepuscular species with seasonal variations in daily activity patterns. Additionally, we identified the temporal differences in activity peaks between different mammals in the Muljangori-oreum wetlands and found higher degree of overlap between sika deer and roe deer during twilight hours.
In this work we study extensively the structures and performance characteristics of the block least mean-square (BLMS) adaptive digital filters (ADF's) that can be realized efficiently using the fast Fourier transform (FFT). The weights of a BLMS ADF realized using the FFT can be adjusted either in the time domain or in the frequency domain, leading to the time-domain BLMS(TBLMS) algorithm or the frequency-domain BLMS (FBLMS) algorithm, respectively. In Part Ⅰof the paper, we first present new results on the overlap-add realization and the number-theoretic transform realization of the FBLMS ADF's. Then, we study how we can incorporate the concept of different frequency-weighting on the error signals and the self-orthogonalization of weight adjustment in the FBLMS ADF's , and also in the TBLMS ADF's. As a result, we show that the TBLMS ADF can also be made to have the same fast convergence speed as that of the self-orthogonalizing FBLMS ADF. Next, based on the properties of the sectioning operations in weight adjustment, we discuss unconstrained FBLMS algorithms that can reduce two FFT operations both for the overlap-save and overlap-add realizations. Finally, we investigate by computer simulation the effects of different parameter values and different algorithms on the convergence behaviors of the FBLMS and TBLMS ADF's. In Part Ⅱ of the paper, we will analyze the convergence characteristics of the TBLMS and FBLMS ADF's.
Previous studies on the effects of speaking rate on voice onset time (VOT) of stops in English, French, Icelandic, and Thai indicate that speaking rate asymmetrically affects VOT values. That is, pre-voiced and long-lag stops vary due to the rate factor more than short-lag stops do. One suggested explanation for this asymmetry is that it is due to the necessity of maintaining phonetic contrasts among the stop categories. Since pre-voiced and long-lag stops represent the ends of the VOT scale, they encompass broad swathes of that range and consequently allow for large variations. On the other hand, the VOT variations of short-lag stops may result in overlap with the VOTs of long-lag stops. This study aimed to explore the effects of speaking rate on the VOTs of Korean stops and see whether Korean fortis and lenis stops are limited in the degrees of variation as a function of rates due to the existence of stops with larger VOT values, lenis and aspirated stops respectively. Conversely, aspirated stops were expected to show more variation since there are no other categories with longer VOTs. Fortis, lenis, and aspirated stops in /CVn/ words (C = bilabial or velar stop, V = /i/ or /a/) were examined in isolation, and at normal and fast rates in a carrier sentence. Speaking rates were controlled by alternating words or sentences on a computer screen at intervals of two seconds for the isolation- and normal-rate conditions and one second for the fast-rate condition. This study found that while the VOTs of fortis stops did not change significantly, those of lenis and aspirated stops showed considerable changes as a function of speaking rates. Also, overlap between lenis and aspirated stops occurred considerably at all speaking rates. These phenomena were interpreted to relate to the fact that VOT contrasts between lenis and aspirated stops in Korean are currently being collapsed. Large variations of lenis stops as a function of rates seem to occur due to a weak motivation to limit the degree of variations for the purpose of maintaining phonetic contrasts. The significant overlap between lenis and aspirated stops at all rates was interpreted to occur because the VOT merger between the two categories became considerably fixed. Also the percentage of correctly-classified VOTs by optimal-boundary values between lenis and aspirated stops turned out to be lower than in previously-studied languages. This was interpreted to be further evidence that VOTs are losing their role in contrasting the two stop categories in Korean.
This study was to assessment of quality assurance (QA) and noise characteristics of Noise Power Spectrum (NPS) according to the time of by using electronic portal imaging device (EPID) for LINAC (Linear Accelerator). LINAC device was (Varian ClinacR iX LINAC, USA) used and the were 40 × 30 cm2 of detector size were 1024 × 768 photo-electric diode array size. For the last twenty years fragment assembly in DNA sequencing followed the "overlap - layout - consensus"paradigm that is used in all currently available assembly tools. Although this approach proved to be useful in assembling clones, it faces difficulties in genomic shotgun assembly: the existing algorithms make assembly errors and are often unable to resolve repeats even in prokaryotic genomes. Biologists are well-aware of these errors and are forced to carry additional experiments to verify the assembled contigs. We abandon the classical “overlap - layout - consensus”approach in favor of a new Eulerian Superpath approach that, for the first time, resolves the problem of repeats in fragment assembly. Our main result is the reduction of the fragment assembly to a variation of the classical Eulerian path problem. This reduction opens new possibilities for repeat resolution and allows one to generate error-free solutions of the large-scale fragment assemble problems. The major improvement of EULER over other algorithms is that it resolves all repeats except long perfect repeats that are theoretically impossible to resolve without additional experiments.

This paper reports a preliminary investigation on the time course of intersyllabic coarticulation in Standard Chinese. In this investigation, around 3800 phonetically compact C1V1-C2V2 type disyllabic structures 3re employed to observe the acoustic effect of coarticulation in general, and about 400 disyllabic words are designed as the materials to examine: (1) How the articulators move from one syllable to the next? (2) What is the extent to which the syllables overlapped? And (3) In what sense, the syllables are produced in parallel; and in what sense, they are in sequence? For the convenience of description, we just take the offset transition of V1 end the onset transition of C2 os the rough representations for anticipatory and carryover effect respectively, durational measurements are made correspondingly. To evaluate the possible influence on the behavior of gestural overlap from stress contrast and constituent difference of the syllables, analysis of variance are counducted as well. Based on this study, Some impressions about general nature of coarticulation behined the intersyllabic gesture overlapping in this language are discussed.
