아연도금 강판의 점용접재의 피로균형에 관한 연구 (Fatigue Behavior of the Single Spot Welded Joint of Zinc Galvanized Steel Sheets)

  • The behavior of fatigue crack growth in the single spot welded joint of zinc galvanized steel sheets was studied experimentally and analytically based on fracture mechanics. Axial tension fatigue tests were carried out with the BSxGAB specimen that the bare plane(GAB) of monogalvanized steel sheet was spot welded to the double thickness bare steel sheet(BS), and with the GAxGAB specimen that the galvanized plane (GA) was spot welded to the equal thickness bare plane (GAB) 1. The relation between maximum stress intensity factor, K sub(max) and the number of cycles to failure, N sub(f) has shown a linear relation on log-log plot in the spot weld of the zinc galvanized steel sheet. 2. The fatigue strength of BSxGAB specimens is about 23% higher than that of GAxGAB specimens at the fatigue strength of $1\times10^6$ cycles. And the fatigue life of BSxGAB specimens at the same load range increases 6~9 times higher than that of GAxGAB specimens. 3. The general tendency at the angle of bending($\theta$) in an applied load has changed rapidly at the initial 20% of its life. After then, it has changed slowly. The change at the angle of bending has increased linearly as the load range increases. 4. It has shown a linear relation between the location ratio of initiation ${\gamma}$ and fatigue life $N_f$ on the semi-log graph paper. Here $\gamma$ means that the crack distance between main crack and sub-crack, 2L is divided by the nugget diameter, 2r. $\gamma=a{\cdot}log N_f+n$ (where a and n are material constant.)

Damage propagation in CFRP laminates subjected to low velocity impact and static indentation

  • This paper describes a damage accumulation mechanism in cross-ply CFRP laminates $[0_2/90_2]_{2S}$ subjected to out-of-plane loading. Drop-weight impact and static indentation tests were carried out, and induced damage was observed by ultrasonic C-scan and an optical microscope. Both tests gave essentially the same results for damage modes, sizes, and load-deformation history. First, a crack occurred in the bottom $0^{\circ}$ layer accompanying some delamination along the crack caused by bending stress. Then, transverse cracks occurred in the middle $90^{\circ}$ layer with decreasing contact force between the specimen and the indenter. Measured local strains near the impact point showed that the stress state changed from a bending dominant state to an in-plane tensile dominant state. A cohesive interface element was used to simulate the propagation of multiple delaminations and transverse cracks under static indentation. Two types of analytical models are considered, one with multiple delaminations and the other with both multiple delaminations and transverse cracks. The damage obtained for the model with only multiple delaminations was quite different from that obtained from the experiment. However, the results obtained from the model with both delaminations and transverse cracks well explain the characteristics of the damage obtained in the experiment. The existence of the transverse cracks is essential to form the characteristic impact damage.

국부가열을 이용한 면외거셋의 피로강도 향상 (Improvement of Fatigue Strength by Spot Heating for Out-of-plane Gusset)

  • In the study, the fatigue strength improvement and mechanism have been estimated by the Spot-Heating treatment on welded bead toes. For this, web-gusset specimens were made without residual stresses and the others with residual stresses imposed by Spot-Heating. The 4-point bending tests were performed in order to estimate the effect of spot-heating on fatigue strength and fatigue characteristics quantitatively for non load-carrying fillet welded joints subjected to pure bending. As a result of fatigue test, fatigue strength of As-Welded specimen for non load-carrying fillet welded joints subjected to pure bending has satisfied the grade of fatigue prescribed in specifications of korea, AASHTO and JSSC. As compare with As-Welded specimen and Spot-Heating specimen have increased about 20% for the fatigue strength at $7.7{\times}10^6$ cycles. The Spot-Heating by reformation of the residual stress on welded bead toes has greatly affected the fatigue crack propagation life, but has slightly affected the fatigue crack initiation life.

강성재단 된 등방성 박스보의 동적 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Dynamic Characteristics of Structurally Tailored Isotropic Box Beams)

  • 보 구조물들은 보다 우수한 성능을 위하여 다양한 형태의 보강재 또는 단면 형상을 가지게 된다. 강성재단을 설계에 적용하기 위해서는 강성재단에 의해서 발생하는 연계 거동을 정확하게 예측하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 문헌에서 보고된 복합재료 보의 특이한 연계거동(면외 굽힘-전단 연계)을 실험적으로 확인하기 위하여, 등가의 동적 연계거동을 나타내는 강성재단 된 등방성 박스보를 제작하였다. 제작된 시편의 주파수 및 모드 형상 등의 동적 특성을 3 차원 유한요소해석과 비교 검토하여, 문헌에 보고된 특이한 전단 연계 거동이 발생함을 확인하였다. 이러한 거동은 보강재의 적절한 배치를 통해 원하는 방향으로 강성재단 될 수 있고, 얻어진 연계 거동은 다양한 분야에 응용될 수 있다.

엑츄에이터를 이용한 송전철탑의 1/2 축소부분실험 (Half-Scaled Substructure Test of a Transmission Tower Using Actuators)

  • In this paper, a half-scaled substructure test was performed to evaluate the buckling and structural safety of an existing transmission tower subjected to wind load. A loading scheme was devised to reproduce the dead and wind loads of a prototype transmission tower, which uses a triangular jig that is mounted on the reduced model to which the similarity law of a half length was applied. As a result of the preliminary numerical analysis carried out to evaluate the stability of a specimen for the design load, it was confirmed that the calculated axial forces of tower leg members were distributed to $80{\sim}90%$ of an admissible buckling load. When the substructured transmission tower was loaded by 270% of its maximum admissible buckling load, it was failed due to the local buckling that is occurred in joints with weak constraints for out-of-plane behavior of leg members. By inspection of load-displacement curves, displacements and strains of members, it is considered that this local buckling was due to additional eccentric force by unbalanced deformation because the time that is reached to yielding stress due to the bending moment is different at each point of a same section.

Spectral SFEM analysis of structures with stochastic parameters under stochastic excitation

  • In this paper, linear elastic isotropic structures under the effects of both stochastic operators and stochastic excitations are studied. The analysis utilizes the spectral stochastic finite elements (SSFEM) with its two main expansions namely; Neumann and Homogeneous Chaos expansions. The random excitation and the random operator fields are assumed to be second order stochastic processes. The formulations are obtained for the system solution of the two dimensional problems of plane strain and plate bending structures under stochastic loading and relevant rigidity using the previously mentioned expansions. Two finite element programs were developed to incorporate such formulations. Two illustrative examples are introduced: the first is a reinforced concrete culvert with stochastic rigidity subjected to a stochastic load where the culvert is modeled as plane strain problem. The second example is a simply supported square reinforced concrete slab subjected to out of plane loading in which the slab flexural rigidity and the applied load are considered stochastic. In each of the two examples, the first two statistical moments of displacement are evaluated using both expansions. The probability density function of the structure response of each problem is obtained using Homogeneous Chaos expansion.

컴프레서용 Al-Si 합금의 파괴 및 마모 특성 (Fracture and Wear Characteristics of Al-Si alloy used for Compressor)

  • Fracture, fatigue and wear characteristics of Al-Si alloy used for compressor are experimentally studied. Plane strain fracture toughness test is carried out using three point bending specimen. Fatigue test is performed under constant loading condition and wear test is carried out as a function of sliding velocity and applied load. To obtain the crack propagation characteristics and wear mechanism of Al-Si alloy, fracture and worn surfaces are investigated using SEM. It is verified that fracture and fatigue strength of Al-Si alloy are improved by the fine microstructure of alloy. The wear behavior and specific wear amount of Al-Si alloy are not dependent on the microstructure but on a function of the silicon content. Anodizing on the surface of Al-Si alloy, surface hardness and wear characteristics are improved.

소수주형 수평곡선 강교량 상부구조의 자유진동 특성 분석 (Free-vibration Characteristics of Two-I-girder Steel Bridges Curved in Plan)

  • 두 개의 I형 거더로 이루어진 소수주형 교량의 경우, 합성 후 슬라브와 거더가 하나의 단면으로 인식될 수 있으며, 이에 따라 평면 외방향의 휨에 대한 중립축은 강축으로 간주 될 수 있다. 따라서 자유진동 모드에서는 평면 내의 휨거동이 지배적일 것이라 쉽게 예상할 수 있다. 그러나 곡선 교량은 직선교량과 달리 초기곡률로 인하여 중력하중 하에서도 항시 비틀림 모멘트가 작용한다. 휨과 비틀림의 상호 작용은 거더의 거동을 복잡하게 하며, 때에 따라서는 비틀림 모드가 휨모드보다 지배적으로 작용할 수 있게 된다. 다시 말해, 같은 환경 하에서 곡선교량은 초기 곡률에 따라 동특성이 달라질 수 있게 된다. 현재까지 수평 곡선 거더의 자유진동에 관한 연구는 많이 이루어져 왔으나 합성 거더에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 곡률 중심각의 변화에 따른 모드 변화와 고유 주파수의 변화를 3차원 모델링을 통하여 검증 하였다. 해석 모델은 합성 전후에 대하여 작성 되었으며, 고유 주파수와 진동 모드 변화를 고찰하였다.

응력 특이점을 갖는 필릿 용접구조물의 피로해석을 위한 가상절점법을 이용한 구조응력 계산 기법 고찰 (A Study on the Fatigue Strength Evaluation for Fillet Weldment including Stress Singularity using Structural Stress with Virtual Node Method)

  • Structural stress approach is well known as a mesh-size insensitive fatigue assessment method by using finite element analyses. It is, however, difficult to estimate the structural stress (SS) at weld end points due to stress singularities when shell elements are used. In this study, fatigue evaluations with longitudinal load carrying box fillet weldment under out-of-plane bending load have been performed by using virtual node method (VNM) in order to avoid the problem, which is called the weld end effect. Various combinations of virtual node parameters, such as reference point and virtual node locations, are investigated for the estimation of proper structural stress values applying VNM in a systematic manner. The appropriate guidance of virtual node parameter has been offered for the fillet weldment considered in the study. The structural stress values obtained by VNM have also been validated by comparing the result with finite element model including weld bead. Moreover, the fatigue strength of the fillet weldment based on the equivalent structural stress is shown to be consistent with the master S-N curve.

반복굽힘 조건에서 감육 곡관의 피로손상 거동 (Fatigue Failure Behavior of Pipe Bends with Local Wall-Thinning Under Cyclic Bending Condition)

  • 본 연구에서는 감육결함이 가공된 실배관 곡관 시편을 대상으로 10 MPa의 내압과 반복 굽힘하중 조건에서 피로 시험을 수행하였다. 시험에는 감육결함이 곡관의 외호부와 내호부에 존재하는 경우를 고려하였으며, 반복 하중으로는 완전 역방향의 변위제어 형태로 작용되는 In-plane 상의 굽힘하중이 고려되었다. 실험 결과, 감육결함이 곡관의 외호부에 존재하는 경우에는 결함부가 아닌 곡관의 측면에서 축방향 균열이 생성되었다. 또한, ASME Sec.III의 설계 피로곡선에서 예측된 건전 곡관의 피로수명보다 긴 피로수명을 보였으며, 피로수명이 결함 길이에 크게 영향을 받지 않았다. 반면, 결함이 내호부에 존재하는 곡관은 내호부에서 원주방향 균열이 발생하였으며, 피로수명은 ASME Sec.III의 설계 피로곡선에서 예측한 건전 곡관의 피로수명보다 짧은 값을 보였다. 또한, 내호부 감육 곡관의 피로수명은 결함 길이가 감소함에 따라 뚜렷이 감소하였다.
