Objectives : The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of Chuna Treatment and Ouhyul herbal acupuncture on the patients with cervical pain caused by traffic accidents. Methods : This study was carried out on the 60 out-patients with cervical pain caused by whiplash injury. These patients were divided into two groups, group A and group B, of 30 patients each. Group A was treated with acupuncture and Chuna treatment and group B was treated with acupuncture and Ouhyul herbal acupuncture. All the patients from both groups were treated four times, twice a week for two weeks. The results of treatment were evaluated by VAS and NDI score. Results : Statistically, both group A and B demonstrated significant improvement in VAS and NDI. But there were no significant differences in the VAS and NDI between two groups. Conclusion : According to the results of this study, it was suggested that Chuna treatment and Ouhyul herbal acupuncture are effective in reducing cervical pain caused by traffic accidents. However, there were no significant differences in the VAS and NDI between two groups.

Objectives : Herniation of Nucleus Pulposus(HNP) of Lumbar is the most important that causes low back pain. The aim of this study is to compare several therapies about Lumbar spine Hearniated Nucleus Pulposus in oriental Medecine which are Bee-venom Acpuncture and Ouhyul Herbal Acpuncture. Methods: Subjects of this research were 60 inpatients complaining Herniation of Nucleus Pulposus, and who were diagnosed as bulging disc, disc protrusion or extrusion with CT & MRI. 20 patients in each, 3 groups; Acpuncture therapy only, Bee-venom Acpuncture, and Ouhyul Herbal Acpuncture, were divided and the conclusions for treatment are as follows. Results : 1. Regarding alleviation of pain by VAS, Ouhyul Herbal Acpuncture Group III showed significant decrease of VAS in the early period of admission(5days), while Bee-venom Acpuncture Group II showed higher score of VAS compared to Acpuncture therapy only Group I. 2. On contrary, in the latter period of admission($5{\sim}9days$), Bee-venom Acpuncture Group II showed significantly higher rate of improvement than the other groups. 3. On the 9th admission day, Bee-venom Acpuncture Group II and Ouhyul Herbal Acpuncture Group III showed higher improvement than Acpuncture therapy only Group I. Between group II and III, Group II showed higher improvement rate. Conclusions : In this study, there were different effects among three groups according to period of treatment. Further study on various traatment for Herniation of Nucleus Pulposus required.

Purpose : Endometriosis is characterized by the ectopic growth of uterine tissue in various extrauterine locations. This study examined the macroscopic, hormonal and immunological effects of Ouhyul Herbal Acupuncture(OHA) therapy on rats with experimentally induced endometriosis. Methods : Endometrial tissue was implanted in the serosal wall of the small intestine in rats. The rats were divided randomly into an experimental group and control group. The experimental group was treated with OHA on Kwanwon(CV4) three times per week and the control group was administrated normal saline every day. After 6 weeks, the size of the ectopic uterine tissue was estimated and the serum progesterone, estradiol and cytokines($TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-l0) concentrations were analyzed. Results : The size of the ectopic uterine tissue in the experimantal group was slightly smaller than that in the control group. The estradiol, IL-4 and IL-6 concentrations were significantly lower and the IL-l0 concentration was significantly higher in the serum of the experimental group than in the control group. There was no significant difference in the concentrations of the other cytokines. Conclusion : These results suggest that OHA might be an effective method for treating dometriosis.

Objectives To review the case studies and controlled studies about Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture treatment. Methods We searched 92 studies about Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture from 6 Korean web databases, using words 'Jungsongouhyul', 'Jungsongouhyul and pharmacopuncture', 'ouhyulpharmacopuncture' and 'ouhyul and pharmacopuncture' in Korean alphabet. We removed 63 duplicated studies. And we excluded 12 studies by reviewing abstract and the contents of a study. Results We selected 5 case studies and 12 controlled studies, excluding experimental research and study not on humans, not using the Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture for major treatment. Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture was used mostly in whiplash injury and all studies showed that Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture is effective treatment. But we found some lacking parts with study design in most studies. Conclusions We found out that Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture is effective in various diseases. But we need to do more well-designed study to increasing reliability of Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture treatment.
