  • We study on the video-capillaroscopy system for look a.t the nail fold capillary by the computer. This system is composed of the luminous source-producer, image-input, phase microscope. The method and contents of observation on this system are seperated from the image-analysis of nail fold capillary form-patterns and the currents of hematocytes. Therefore we think this system is possible to the practical clinic use for the basic model on the cardiac failure and the deficiency(血虛), stagnant(血瘀) of blood in human.

In the face of Korea's Oriental medicine's reality of having medical texts only after the 2nd half of the GoRyeo(高麗) Dynasty, this study will provide the basis of finding the origin of Indigenous Herbal Medical Science that was founded in the late-GoRyeo(高麗), early-JoSeon(朝鮮) period.

  • Objective : The aim of this work is to investigate the antibacterial activity of the essential oil obtained from Artemisia capillaris (A. capillaris), as the development of microbial resistance to antibiotics make it necessary to constantly look for new and active compounds effective against pathogenic bacteria. Methods : The crushed materials of A. capillaris (1 kg) were subjected to steam distillation for 3 h, using a modified Clevenger type apparatus in order to obtain essential oil. Diethyl ether was the extracting solvent kept at 25°.... The essential oil was analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The essential oil and the composition were tested for antimicrobial activities against 15 different genera of oral bacteria. Results and Conclusion : The components of the essential oil identified were: β-pinene (9.36%), camphor (3.32%), 1,8cineole (4.38%), artemisia alcohol (3.32%), β-caryophyllene (11.08%), γ-cadinene (4.23%), and capillene (32.74%). The essential oil of A. capillaris exhibited considerable inhibitory effects against all oral bacteria tested, while their major components demonstrated various degrees of growth inhibition.

This study aimed to look into its current status and perspective way to suggest the way which Korean oriental medicine goes to. Methods: We searched internet web sites that are relative with CAM in oncology parts and made lists for this study. We downloaded the essays in the form of electronic files in that web sites and copied the originals consulting to each libraries and relative institution. Results: North America was processing the standardization of CAM based evidences and China was making their traditional medicine representative medicine of CAM. India was developing their traditional medicine because of their domestic need and its results were recognized by National Cancer Institute (NCI). CAM was regulated and studied legally in Europe. Japan was using mushroom for immune therapy clinically. Mexico had a large scale of medical valley in Tijuana area and made it international. Conclusions: The efforts to develop and study CAM for treating cancer are increasing in the world. We need to know the current status of CAM in the world, and make our way that Korean oriental medicine goes to.

  • Objective: The aim of this work is to investigate the antibacterial activity of the Sohporaflavanone G isolated from Sophora flavescens (S. flavescens), as the development of microbial resistance to antibiotics make it essential to constantly look for new and active compounds effective against pathogenic bacteria. Method : Sophoraflavanone G was isolated from the dried roots of Sophora flavescens Aiton (Leguminosae) by bioassay?guided fractionation. We investigated the effect of sophoraflavanone G on oral bacterial at various concentrations after incubation of 24 h in strains in the dose?dependent manner. Results: The structure of active compound, Sophoraflavanone G having a lavandulyl group at C?8, was elucidated on the basis of spectral data especially 1H?NMR and I3C?NMR. The antimicrobial activity showed that Sophoraflavanone G exhibited antimicrobial activilies against all the bacteria tested (MICs, 0.39 - 6.25 ㎍/ml). Sophoraflavanone G showed the strong antimicrobial activity against all the facultative bacteria and microaerophilic bacteria (MICs, 0.78 - 1.56 ㎍/ml) and also Sophoraflavanone G showed the strong antimicrobial activity against obligate anaerobic bacteria (MICs, 0.39 - 6.25 ㎍/ml).

  • In order to look about the effect and possibility of oriental medical diagnosis and treatment of pancytopenia of myelodysplastic syndrome. For a patient who has pancytopenia. we diagnose him as myelodysplastic syndrome by CBC, LFT, Ultrasonic wave, Vitamin B12 test, Bone marrow test, Folic acid test and doing Herb-medication, Moxa-Tx continually, we observed the change of WBC, RBC. HGB. MCV, Platelet. ESR with following up CBC test ten times Finally, WBC increased by 900, RBC increased by 400000, MCV was reduced by 7fl. HGB increased by 1.3g/dl. Hct increased by 3.2%, ESR was reduced from 127 to 35mm/h. We diagnosed myelodysplastic syndrome as 'CONSUMPTIVE DISEASE' in oreintal medicine. The treatment effect of pancytopenia was achieved by Herb-medication and Moxa-Tx for invigorating qi, enriching the blood, invigorating the spleen and the kidney-yang, Now we need the study of oriental medical treatment for Aplastic Anemia and AML which is similar this.
