Objectives : This research examined about dietary therapy on the gastric & duodenal ulcer based on the literary findings, for clinical treatment and prevention of the gastric & duodenal ulcer. Methods : This Research examined on histories, compositions, applications, and effects of dietetic on about 200 cases of dietary therapy of the gastric & duodenal ulcer from recent Chinese literatures Results : 1. Various vegetables, animals and mineral materials including herbs, grains, vegetables, fruits, food and drink were used for the dietary therapy. 2. Methods of the preparation for use as therapeutics were decoction, pulvis, gruel, medicinal wine, cake, tea, paste and gelatin and etc. 3. Frequently used materials were cuttle fish bone, Bletillae rhizoma, oyster shell, egg shell, sugar, aloe, licorice, lily, red jujube, and pig stomach. 4. Four properties of cold, warm, cool and hot were equal in frequencies. Most common tastes were sweet and bitter. Conclusion : Though dietary therapy for the gastric & duodenal ulcer is not based on clinical or experimental data, but through experience. It is mostly based on Yin-Yang and five elements, visceral manifestation, channels and their collateral channels and chinese herbal medicine theories. If we use them properly according to oriental medicine method, it will be effective on treating and preventing the gastric & duodenal ulcer.

The principal objective of this study was to compare and analyze the qualitative characteristics of mulberry leaf tea (MLT) and fermented mulberry leaf tea (FMLT). The concentrations of polyphenols were approximate in FMLT and MLT, with measurements of 4,022.82 mg/100 g and 3,932.32 mg/100 g, respectively. These polyphenol concentrations were relatively high and were approximate to the contents in green tea and yellow tea. Moreover, both MLT and FMLT contained small amount of vitamin C. The concentrations of caffeine were also relatively low for both MLT and FMLT, with values of 5.68 mg/100 g and 21.11 mg/100 g, respectively. When the quality of the MLT and FMLT was evaluated, we noted only minimal difference in color a (redness) values between each material; however, the b (yellowness) and the L (lightness) values were higher in the MLT than in the FMLT. When sensory tests were conducted, both materials were judged to have a bitter taste, and FMLT has a synthetic and pleasant taste.

This study was performed to provide basic ideas as understanding and application for oriental medicinal cuisine (Yak-Sun). To develop medicinal cuisine, it is necessary to grasp the theoretical system. And to develop medicinal cuisine for health enhancement, it is also required not only to consider constitutions but also to suggest the need of knowledge for moderation in terms of regimen along with the theory of oriental medicine. Also to develop medicinal cuisine according to the perspective of oriental medicinal theory, what should be taken into account is not only the understanding of the characteristics of food materials, but also the properties of them that the theory of oriental medicine. Lastly the scientific effect of the medicinal cuisine which is developed according to the oriental medicinal theory. And it is believed to De essential for the government to make effects to set a standard and laws to validate the medicinal effects and the process of assessment so that the systematic development can be encouraged, and to prepare guidance to food development for national health improvement. This research was planned and executed to evaluate how the composition of Yak-sun(oriental diet therapy) can effect health conditions of people who are suffering from diet-related diseases like cardiovascular related disease. by taking Yak-sun in a form of nutritional supplement with our daily meals. We produced Yak-sun tea with Mansam, Hwanggi, Tanggi and Paekchak and observed nutritional composition. We concluded that we could apply the components not only in a form of tea, but also in other forms of various food. The information we received from this conclusion will be a basic information on how we can apply oriental medicinal resources into other food and will also be a steppingstone for medicinal herbs to step foot in the field of functional food research, which already draws sizable attention world-wide.
Patterns are symbolic expressions of life style or sentiment of people as a product of culture. Furthermore, it is a type of language that the shape or implication does not change much over time. Patterns shown on the Korean medical containers are related to human life and health that they are not very diverse and splendid but closed used in real life. The medical containers include the alcohol container or tea-ware in broad sense, but under this study, it would be handled only for the Korean medical containers directly used to protect human health and treatment of diseases. They would be the Medicine Mortar and Pestle that is used to grind the herbal medical ingredients, pots that hold the liquid decoction, containers to keep the medical ingredients in general conceptual use for medical purposes. The patterns inscribed are classified in animal pattern, plant pattern or alphabet pattern. Turtle, crane, ginseng, and life patterns have the contemplation to pray for long life without disease or good fortune, while plum pattern, dragon pattern and the like are used in the medical containers used mainly in royal families with the social status and dignity shown. As such, patterns have not only ornament elements but also the symbolic implication to represent long life without illness for human. It provides the basic data of medical wisdom contained in the pattern and willingness of human to protect life from illness. On the basis of such research, it would require ensuing studies to make comparison and analysis with the medical containers with the patterns in the adjacent countries in the days to come.

This study was performed for the investigation of vasodilatory efficacy and its underlying mechanisms of Jagumhuan(JGH), a herbal remedy. JGH produced completely endothelium-dependent relaxation and relaxed phenylephrine(PE)-precontracted aorta in a concentration dependent manner. The magnitude of relaxation was greater in PE induced contraction than that of KCl, suggesting involvement of $K^+$ channel in the relaxant effect. Both glibenclamide$(10^{-5}M)$, a $K_{ATP}$ channel inhibitor and indometacin, a cyclooxygenase inhibitor, completely prevented this relaxation. The relaxation effects of JGH, involve in part the release of nitric oxide from the endothelium as pretreatment with L-NAME, an NOS inhibitor, and methylene blue, a cGMP inhibitor, attenuated the responses by 62% and 58%, respectively. In addition, nitrite was produced by JGH in human aortic smooth muscle cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells. The relaxant effect of JGH was also inhibited by 55.41% by tetraethylammonium(TEA; 5mM), a $K_{Ca}$ channel inhibitor. In the absence of extracellular $Ca^{2+}$, pre-incubation of the aortic rings with JGH significantly reduced the contraction by PE, suggesting that the relaxant action of the JGH includes inhibition of $Ca^{2+}$ release from intracellular stores. These results indicate that in rat thoracic aorta, JGH may induce vasodilation through ATP sensitive $K^+$ channel activation by prostacyclin production. However, the relaxant effect of JGH may also mediated in part by NO pathways and $Ca^{2+}$ activated $K^+$ channel.

This study was conducted to compare and analyze the active and general components between mulberry leaf tea (MLT) and fermented mulberry leaf tea (FMLT). Among the general ingredients, the crude lipids of FMLT contained higher than that of MLT, while the level of carbohydrates was higher in the MLT. Although free sugar of FMLT was a lower concentration than MLT, the value of maltose was higher in the MLT. In FMLT, maltose was not analyzed but small amount of lactose was analyzed. In addition, the level of total free amino acid of MLT was higher than that of FMLT. The level of glutamic acid was highest in MLT, while that of cystine was highest in FMLT. The value of $\gamma$-aminobutyric acid (GABA) was greater in the derivatives of amino acids, and the content was similar for both MLT and FMLT. FMLT also contained a lower level of unsaturated fatty acids than MLT. In addition, the content of total mineral was higher in FMLT, and the level of K was the highest and similar in both teas.
This study was examined the quality characteristics of dough liquid according to the additional ratio of Doraji in seaweed snack manufacturing. Firstly, the results of Doraji type (dry & powder) were as follows: Carbohydrates 77.57~79.29, crude protein 9.10-9.25, crude fat 0.96~1.33 and calories 355~366 kcal, pH 5.42~5.45, sugar $3.53{\sim}3.96^{\circ}brix$, color 33.82~44.25 (L), 2.27~3.52 (B) and total free amino acids 2,200~2,699 mg/100 g. Total polyphenol contents had dry extracts 1,931.18 mg% and powder extract 1,382.43 mg%, DPPH and ABTs radical scavenging activities tended to increase with higher treatment concentration. Next, the results showed that dough liquid for seaweed snack manufacture which was added Doraji were as follows: Color became deep poppy red with increased addition of Doraji. The texture of adhesiveness, cohesiveness, chewiness, and brittleness tended to decrease with addition of Doraji. The springness showed the opposite tendency. Accordingly, these results suggest that 20% of dry Doraji extract is a proper proportion so that it can be added to the rice dough liquid to produce form Doraji (dry and powder) containing seaweed snacks.
Objectives: This study reviewed the status of adverse event (AE) reporting in VigiAccess using anti-obesity agents as examples and explored the possibility of its use and future challenges. Methods: AE reports related to some representative drugs among herbal medicines (HMs), complex HM prescriptions, ingredients of supplements, and over-the-counter and prescription medicines were investigated using VigiAccess on February 1, 2024. Results: AE reports on prescription drugs were overwhelmingly higher than those on HMs or supplements. Although most reports were submitted from North America, reports on Ephedra sinica and green tea extract (GTE) were more from Asia and Europe, respectively. The female population reported more, and the difference in the sex ratio was the smallest for Ephedra spp. The age group was concentrated on young adults, but many older patients reported GLP-1 receptor agonist-related AEs. Symptoms related to the gastrointestinal and nervous systems were most commonly reported, but mental and cardiac disorders were common in Ephedra-type HMs. Hepatobiliary disorders are also commonly found in GTE-related reports. Conclusions: VigiAccess was useful for easily checking the global status of AE reporting for prescription drugs. However, several limitations were observed in using VigiAccess for HMs because of the few reports. Thus, it is necessary to increase the number of reports by education and to promote AE reporting among HM prescribers and users. The full range of HMs should be included in the pharmacovigilance system, and the coding and classification of HMs should be revised.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to understand the research trend of reports on forest therapy so far and analyze the Korean medicine therapy being applied in forest therapy programs. Methods We ran a keyword search on domestic databases with the following keyword 'forest therapy, forest healing, forest treatment, recreational forest, forest bath, forest experience'. The search took place in December 2014 and there was no limit to search time. A total of 334 forest therapy articles have been selected. Results The number of research on forest therapy continued to rise from 1985, with 334 articles being published from 84 journals. When those 188 articles were sorted by their contents and methods, except 146 articles of survey on simple satisfaction, recognition and visting, 94 were clinical studies, 79 were literature studies, 15 were experimental studies. Of the 94 clinical researches, there were 52 CCTs (Controled Clinical Trials), 39 ODs (efficacy studies with either a controlled or an Other than controlled Design) and 3 RCTs (Randomized Clinical Trials). Among the clinical researches, there were a total of 21 studies that used Korean Medicine programs, and meditation was the most popular, being used in 18 studies. Herbal food and tea therapy and Qigong were used in 3 studies each, and Korean medicine music programs were used in 2 studies. Conclusions A systematic and standardized Korean medicine forest therapy program must be developed, and based on the program, more research treating diseases should be conducted.
This study was to investigate the effects of enzyme on quality characteristics and antioxidant activities of wild peach (Prunus persica L.) juice. pH levels and S.S (soluble solid) values in all samples ranged from 3.86 to 4.13 and from 48.0 to $55.0^{\circ}Brix$, respectively. The TA (total acidity) values of control (not treatment enzyme) were higher than those of the others. The highest 'L', 'a' and 'b' values were observed on PWP (preserved wild peach (Prunus persica L.) juice of cellulase/pectinase (1:1, w/w) sample. Glucose (26.65 g/100 g) and fructose (17.42 g/100 g) in PWP product were determined, however sucrose and maltose were not detected. The predominating organic acid components analyzed in PWP sample were tartaric (32.36 g/100 g) and lactc acids (209.34 g/100 g), whereas citric acid, acetic acid and malic acid were not detected. Higher scores for taste, flavor, color and overall acceptance were found for PWP products compared to other samples. The total phenolic content (13.31 mg GAE/mg dry weight) analyzed using Folin-Ciocalteu's reagent, of PWP sample was higher than those of the others and the total flavonoid concentrations were also 10.95 mg CE/mg dry weight. The DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS radical scavenging activities in all samples ranged from 55.16 to 74.29% and from 39.59 to 82.79%, respectively. The antioxidant activities were affected by addition of enzyme. These results indicate that the use of the mixture of cellulase and pectinase could increase the quality, and antioxidant potentials of sugar preserved wild peach (Prunus persica L.) juice by enzymatic treatment.
