Recently, organizational workers are complaining of stress due to excessive connection on SNS and are claiming the right to disconnect. If these claims are not properly managed, organizational performance may deteriorate. Therefore, organizations need to approach the issue of the right to disconnect carefully. This study examined the effects of work connection at office, IT hyper-connected environments, and work connection at home on the right to disconnect, and analyzed the effect of this perception on job satisfaction, and then analyzed gender differences in these effects. The research results are as follows. First, it was found that the work connection at office lowered the right to disconnect. Second, the deeper IT hyper-connected environment, the higher the right to disconnect. Third, it was found that the work connection at home raises the right to disconnect. Fourth, it was found that the right to disconnect increases job satisfaction to a certain extent, but lowers job satisfaction when it exceeds the appropriate line. Fifth, in the case of men, the effect of the right to disconnect on job satisfaction has sharply increased and sharply reduced. On the other hand, in women, it gradually increased and then decreased slowly. Considering the results of these studies, organizations need to check the current status and appropriate level of the work connection at home for organizational performance management. Organizations need to formulate organizational management measures that take into account the positive and negative functions of the right to disconnect. And organizations need to come up with management measures that take gender into account.
Psychological stress is a growing issue in work stress research because work stressors are closely related to depression; and depression, in turn, decreases organizational effectiveness. Considering such causal relationships of work stress, a comprehensive source to control work stress is needed for worksite mental well-being. This study was conducted to identify how social support at work controlled work stress and which characteristics of social support were effective on work stress reduction. The study participants were 240 workers employed in a public hospital in Georgia, U.S.A self-administered survey was given to employees with their pay slips, and followed by a hospital wide voice reminder for 7 days. Surveys were conducted over a 20-day period. The questionnaires asked about job demands, job control, social support at work, depression, job performance, absenteeism, and demographics. The social support construct was structured on the source of support at work and the kinds of support were provided. Statistical analyses were conducted in the structural equation modeling approach. Social support at work was directly related to high job control, low depression, and high job performance. High score of social support at work were significantly associated with high job control, low depressive symptoms, and high job performance. By source of support, only organizational support was positively related to high job control. Organizational support was more effective than supervisor and coworker support. Any stressors and their outcomes were not differenciated by the kinds of support. This result indicated that job control was influenced more by the source of support than the kinds of support provided at work; and the most efficient source of support was the organization. Organizational support was a strong factor in improving workers" perceived controllability of their jobs from a work stress reduction perspective.tive.
Recently the concept of authenticity has made an issue on the study of transformational leadership. Without authenticity of leader the effect of leadership nullifies the effectiveness of leadership for the followers. This study examines convergently the effect of transformational leadership on trust, organizational devotion, and team performance with the moderating effect of authenticity focusing 232 hotel team members in Busan using structural equation model. The results are as follows: First, transformational leadership has shown significantly effective toward trust and organizational devotion. Second, trust toward team leader has shown significantly effective toward team performance, while devotion has not shown dignificantly effective. Third, authenticity has shown significantly effective for moderating effect between leadership and trust, but not effective between leadership and devotion. This paper make significant contribution by testing the concept of authenticity.
What the structure of knowledge management capability (KMC) to improve the organizational performance is an important issue for researchers and practitioners with growing interest in recent years. In this paper, we begin with a deep thinking about the resource-based view and knowledge-based view of the firm applying to knowledge management issues. By exploring the two underlying theories of knowledge management, together with an intensive review and interpretation of existing literatures, we obtain six major dimensions of KMC. We then propose an integrated conceptual model of KMC and its relationship with organizational performance. A PLS analysis of the gathered data from organizations in Korea which already have enterprise-wide knowledge management systems is conducted to validate the proposed model. We discuss several meaningful implications and draw several insightful conclusions surrounding the KMC.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between women's gender microaggression experience in the workplace and their percieved level of decent work based on the Psychology of Working Theory(PWT) among South Korean women employees. Specifically, we focused on testing the mediating role of career adaptability, an intrapersonal variable in PWT, and the moderating role of organizational culture of gender prejudice, a contextual variable in PWT, on career adaptability. Online survey data were collected from 219 South Korean women employees and Mplus 7.0 was used to test the simple mediation and moderated mediation effects based on structural equation modeling. Results indicated that there was no mediating effect of career adaptability between the relationship between gender microaggression in the workplace and decent work, however, a significant moderation effect was found by the organizational culture of gender prejudice on the mediating effect of career adaptability. Based on these results, practical implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of transformational leadership of the leader in the wedding industry on the behavior of employees, and also to examine the equity perception of employees on their behavior. As a result of analysis, when the relation between transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behavior was examined, transformational leadership had not effect on behavior of employees. Thus, hypothesis 1 was rejected. As transformational leadership had significant effect on equity perception, hypothesis 2 was adopted. When the relation between equity perception and organizational citizenship behavior was analyzed, equity perception had significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior. Thus, hypothesis 3 was adopted. When the mediating effect of equity perception in the process of the effect of transformational leadership on organizational citizenship behavior as hypothesis 4 was examined, equity perception had partial mediating effects. Thus, hypothesis 4 was partially adopted. Accordingly, the leader in the wedding industry needs to demonstrate transformational leadership in order to promote organizational citizenship behavior of employees and also makes employees to feel impartial treatment and procedural impartiality. Further studies on practical measures of this issue are recommended.
Korea has started new value creation which is the post catch-up innovation system from the catch-up innovation. Post catch-up innovation system is becoming the main R&D issue for Korea and is needed for the new concept of R&D management and planning frame. This study posed questionnaires : how to promote the knowledge creation in technology planning and what the role of organizational learning in the technology planning is. This paper suggests the relationship of success factors of knowledge creation in technology planning which is organized and operated by experts with different background. Based on the prior research on organizational learning, communications and collaborative interactions, four hypotheses that factors of knowledge creation in technology planning have positive relationship with organizational learning are extracted. This study adopts Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) to analyze the relationship between organizational learning and successful technology planning. The approach based on organizational learning and interaction will be useful for constructing the planning framework in the era of post catch-up innovation. This paper, therefore, suggests the possibility of new theoretical development and new research agenda.

Recently, As it takes charge of the customer service in many enterprises, the importance of call center has been emphasized more and more. The growth of call center industry is leading lots of call center agents. But, Call center agent's frequent turnover deteriorates the labor productivity and quality. Also, This turnover increases training cost and recruit cost. For these reasons, management turnover in call center is emerging as an important issue. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship of job satisfaction factors, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention of call center agent. To achieve these objective, as a conceptual model of the study, job satisfaction factors, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention were reviewed and the model could be estimated through path analysis. According th the finding of this study, job satisfaction factors have positively impact on the job satisfaction, organizational commitment but have not directly impact on the turnover intention. Also job satisfaction and organizational commitment have negatively impact on the turnover intention. As a result, the meaningful implication of this study suggests that the increase of both job satisfaction and organizational commitment through the improvement of job satisfaction factors should be regard as important dimensions to decrease of turnover intention of call center agents.
This study attempted to verify the relationship between job burnout and organizational citizenship behavior among South Korean soldiers in the Navy force by applying the Job Demands-Resource Model and Conservation of Resource Theory, and the moderated mediating effect of social capital through the work engagement and smartphone use. The mediating effect of work engagement and the moderating effect of social capital via smartphone use were examined in the relation between job burnout and organizational citizenship behavior. We combine the mediation effect model and the moderation effect model and tested the moderated mediation effect. To perform this study, the survey was conducted on the navy soldier on duty, and total of 324 data were analyzed. The results of this study were as follows: the complete mediation effect of work engagement in the relation of job burnout and organizational citizenship behavior was verified, social capital via smartphone use moderated the relation between job burnout and work engagement, and the moderated mediation effect of social capital via smartphone use in the relation between job burnout and organizational citizenship behavior through work engagement was identified. Based on the results, implications, limitations, and future research directions of the current study were discussed.
Purpose - Turnover Intention in the franchise industry is becoming a very important issue. This study examines the structural relationships between organizational justice, emotion, job satisfaction, and turnover intention in the franchise industry. In this model, emotion was classified into two sub-dimensions such as positive and negative emotion. Research design, data, methodology - The sample of this study collected from employees of a food-service franchise company is representative. Copies of the questionnaire along with a cover letter were delivered by a research assistant to the human resources manager or the general manager of the selected food-service franchise firms after they agreed to participate in the study. In order to increase the response rate of the respondents, a small gift was provided to the respondents who completed the questionnaire. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed and 285 returned responses, 9 responses were not usable due to missing information. Thus, a total of 276 responses were used using structural equation modeling with Smartpls 3.0. Results - The results showed that organizational justice had positive significant effects on positive emotion and job satisfaction. Job satisfaction had negative a significant effect on turnover intention. And negative emotion had positive significant effect on turnover intention. Conclusions - The results of this study provide some implications. If employees feel that the franchise headquarters is fair about the methods and procedures of decision making, resource allocation, information sharing, etc., it means that employees feel better. If the franchise's decision-making processes and methods and results are transparently disclosed and processed in accordance with the internal rules of the company, the employees will be able to fully understand and accept them. The results of this study also show that positive and negative emotions of service-based franchise employees have different effects on job attitude and organizational behavior. In particular, when negative emotions of employees are passed on to others and the results are negative, employees may feel that they are disoriented or wrong. Therefore, the franchise headquarters should try to inspire employees' sense of organizational community, and should pay attention to how to relieve the job stress and the fair distribution of work and rewards.
