  • This study aimed to analyze the debate on the Elementary School Mathematics Contents in the new National Elementary Mathematics Curriculum developed in 2006. With this, the feature of the new National Mathematics Curriculum compared with the past 7th National Elementary Mathematics Curriculum was investigated. And the drafts on developing the new National Elementary Mathematics Curriculum were investigated as well. Three main controversies were identified. The first controversy was related to the item which had been dealt in middle school curriculum and moved to elementary school in the new National Mathematics Curriculum (e.g. equations, direct proportion and inverse proportion). The second one was related to the order of teaching fraction. The third one was related to the fact that problem solving became one of the five domains in Elementary School Mathematics Curriculum. Those controversies came from a basic belief on the ranges and depths of elementary school mathematics, didactical point of view, or thoughts on what should the content in the National Mathematics Curriculum be. The issues and suggestions that were discussed in this paper might serve to improve the National Mathematics Curriculum.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the content hierarchy of ICT curriculum in elementary school. Korea Ministry of Education has been released the 2nd ICT curriculum by last year. Over the past few years, several studies have been focused on the problem of 1st curriculum. But there has been no study that tried to find the internal justification of computer subject matter. Also there has been different hierarchy each and every textbook. And, we explored a standards of selection and a principles of organization of computer subject matter. then applied it to the content hierarchy of 2nd ICT curriculum. We tried to find relations with the content hierarchy and the types of thinking learner use. We suggests that computer subject can be organized by hierarchy of content and learners experiences. It can be logically organized between different grade, horizontally organized between same grade.

  • The purpose of this research is to minimize the learning deficiency on science subject in changeover from the 7th education curriculum to the next curriculum which was noticed in 2007. We investigated the contents overlapped or omitted in science contents organization between the two curriculums; moved contents to upper or lower grade, deleted contents, enlarged contents and reduced contents. Also we found that the deficiency will be occurred for the students who entered school in 2006 and 2007 in elementary school. To minimize the learning deficiency in the changeover, we must consider the following points. (1) We need to promote the teachers' comprehension about the learning deficiency and supplementary instruction through the teacher training program before carrying out the next curriculum. (2) We must add the measures minimizing the learning deficiency to the teachers' guide and resources which are used in encouragement of learning and teachers' training. (3) We must develop the instructing materials to supplement the learning deficiency for the students who entered school in 2006 and 2007. As practicing above points, we will be able to reduce time loss in studying and teaching the same contents and to supplement the omitted contents.

  • This narrative review introduces global trends in pharmacovigilance (PV) education for healthcare professionals and the status of PV education in Korea. Proactive participation of healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, and nurses in reporting suspected adverse events is the main driving force for effective operation of the spontaneous adverse event reporting system database, which in turn facilitates early safety signal detection of otherwise unknown suspected adverse events. The World Health Organization recognizes PV education curriculum as a key aspect in promoting awareness of PV and adverse event reporting among healthcare professionals, and multiple studies have demonstrated that PV educational interventions for healthcare professionals have increased overall adverse event reporting. Considering the global trends in PV education, the curriculum in Korean universities still has room for improvement in promoting PV obligation among future healthcare professionals. Further research is needed to develop PV education curriculum. We suggest a three-step project for innovating PV education in Korea to meet the global PV educational standards: a survey to gauge current PV competencies among healthcare professionals, reform of current PV academic curriculum, and evaluation and fine-tuning of the reformed curriculum.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the process and meaning of the expansion of the technology education curriculum of general high school. For the study, research problems were set up according to the procedure of case study method, and cases suitable for research were identified and data were collected through interviews with the teachers of the schools. The examples used in the study were two high schools in Gyeonggi - do, and the collected data were visualized in concept form through semantic analysis process. The results of the two schools are summarized as follows. First, the revision of unit school curriculum has been started through crisis and challenge awareness. Second, it is necessary to use the free lecture system suggested in the 2015 revised curriculum. Third, students should change their perceptions of students and curriculum by enhancing class through various skills and education activities suitable for high school level. Fourth, we must continuously strive to develop professionalism as a technology teacher. It is difficult to expand the curriculum of the school because there is only one technology teacher in the general high school. However, through the cases of this study, it is expected that the importance of the technology subject and the change of awareness will be realized as various education activities for the career choice in the high school credit system. do.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze changes to the middle school mathematics textbooks of third mathematics curriculum period and seventh mathematics curriculum period. This study put the math curricula from the third to the sixth one in third mathematics curriculum period as those math curricula witnessed the maintenance of industrial society paradigm. And then it put the math curricula from the seventh one to current the 2009 revised mathematics curriculum in seventh mathematics curriculum period as the knowledge-based information society paradigm has continued throughout those math curricula. Based on those period categories, We compared and analyzed changes of the middle school math textbooks. For the comparison and analysis of math textbooks between the two periods, this study set the unit organization system, unit goal, task type and content development approach as analysis elements in the unit of 'Nature of Figures' in the second grade math textbooks for middle school. As a result of the research, it was confirmed that the textbooks of the two periods had many changes in the unit organization system, but the unit goal, task type, and content development approach stayed in low level goals and task type that require conceptual and procedural.

  • This study aimed at investigating the physics curriculum implemented in science core schools. Thus, the researchers analyzed the science curriculum articulated in the annual reports of science core schools and interviewed some teachers in the schools to identify the features of the physics curriculum. The research findings were as follows: First, with respect to the teaching units by subjects, general science had the largest proportion, as much as 6.7 hours in average, and physics I and II were 4.2 and 4.4 hours, respectively, which were similar to other subjects such as chemistry, life science, and earth science. Second, most of schools opened the courses of physics I and II with two hours for two semesters. Fourteen schools taught physics I as an intensive unit whereas nine schools taught physics II intensively. In the case of specialized subjects, the most frequent one was independent research, and advanced physics was taught in 7 schools whereas physics experiments were done in 34 schools. Based on the findings, this study gives some implications about how to organize the physics curriculum in science core schools according to the 2015 revised science curriculum.

  • This study was conducted to seek the innovation challenges of "University Department of Special Education" with convergence on lifelong education of the disabled which is constantly stressed due to the educational needs of the disabled. For this purpose, the study first examined the compatibility between special education and lifelong education of the disabled based on the universal basis and then suggested faculty competence development for the foundation of organization and an integrated cooperation system of "University Department of Special Education" with support of National Institute for Lifelong Education of Disabled, lifelong education centers, related local organizations, and local colleges. In regards to the curriculum, the study also suggested lifelong education curriculum of disabled within the university lifelong education centers and a foundation for gradual restructuring of the curriculum of the "Department of Special Education". A program for 'lifelong education instructors for disabled (temporary name)' was introduced based on interdisciplinary course with "University Department of Special Education" for qualification of instructions.
