  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the changes of drapability and mechanical properties with folded yarn conditions. The samples were knitted 100% cotton yarn with hand-knitting machine. Mechanical properties were measured by Instron and Kawabata tester. Drapability was measured by Drapemeter. The differences in each sample were observed in the experimental results. This study showed that folded conditions were important conditions for fabric handle and properties.

  • Tricrecyl phosphate(TCP)-containing polyurea microcapsules were prepared by interfacial polymerization using aromatic 2,4-toluene diisocyanate(TDI) and ethylenediamine(EDA) as wall forming materials. The effects of the protective colloids of polyvinylalcohol(PVA) and gelatin were investigated through experimentation. The mean size of prepared polyurea microcapsules was smaller and the surface morphology of the microcapsule prepared by the PVA as protective colloid was much smoother than the gelatin. As the concentration of protective colloid increased, the wall membrane of the polyurea microcapsules became more stable, the thermal stability of the wall membrane increased, the mean particle size became smaller, and the particle distribution was more uniform. PET containg microTCPs have a higher activation energy of decomposition, higher char content and lower heat of combustion.

  • Two tert-butyl substituted phthalocyanines(Pcs), in metal-free and metallated forms, were synthesized and the fluorescence responses toward various nitro derivatives, including picric acid(PA), 2,4-dinitrotoluene(DNT), 1,4-dinitrobenzene(DNB), 4-nitrotoluene(NT), nitrobenzene(NB), 1,4-benzoquinone(BQ), and nitromethane(NM) were investigated. Among the various nitro derivatives, current Pc derivatives exhibited efficient and exclusive fluorescence quenching in the presence of picric acid, which was readily observed by a naked eye. Quenching efficiency was estimated by the Stern-Volmer relationship, in which quenching constant, KSV, was calculated to be in the range of $10^4M^{-1}$. It was also found out that the aggregational behaviors of these Pcs are heavily dependent on the nature of solvent systems, subsequently affecting the quenching efficiency.

  • In order to establish the standard manufacturing condition of PET flame retardant sheets, physicochetnical properties of the samples made by the conventional flame-retardant finishing were systematically investigated, including compatibility among flame retardant agent and finishing auxiliaries, surface property, and wicking property. From this results, the addition of washing and renapping process after the shearing process was required for the more effective in producing PET flame-retardant sheet by the standard finishing. The effect of the modification of the regular flame retardant finishing process was studied by FTIR, TGA, and flame retardancy test.

  • A high efficiency deep blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode (PHOLED) was developed using a new wide triplet bandgap host material (PPO1) with a phenylcarbazole and a phosphine oxide unit. The wide triplet bandgap host material was synthesized by a phosphornation reaction of 2-bromo-Nphenylcarbazole with chlorodiphenylphosphine. A deep blue emitting phosphorescent dopant, tris((3,5-difluoro-4-cyanophenyl)pyridine)iridium (FCNIr), was doped into the PPO1 host and a high quantum efficiency of 17.1 % and a current efficiency of 19.5 cd/A with a color coordinate of (0.14,0.15) were achieved in the blue PHOLED. The quantum efficiency of the deep blue PHOLED was better than any other quantum efficiency value reported up to now.

  • The binding isotherms of ionic dyes with Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) in aqueous solution were determined by the dynamic dialysis technique. The shape of the isotherms of cationic dye, C. I. Basic Red 18 with poly(vinlypyrrolidone) showed a partition type. It suggests that the binding involves a non-cooperative mode. Isotherms of an anion dye, a synthesized dye by coupling of diazotized m-trifluoromethylaniline with 2-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid, were sigmoid type and showed multimode interaction. The results were interpreted by the McGhee von Hippel theory. The thermodynamic parameters for the complex formation of the dyes-polymer were calculated from their temperature dependences of the intrinsic binding constant.

  • We have investigated Electrical Properties of Organic Light-Emitting Diode depending on Varied Temperature using 8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum($Alq_3$) as an electron transport and emissive material. We analyzed the electrical properties of organic light emitting diodes by impedance characteristics of ITO/$Alq_3$/Al. Impedance characteristics was measured complex impedance Z and phase e in the frequency range of 40 Hz to $10^7\;Hz$. From these analyses, we are able to interpret electrical Properties of OLED depending on temperature.

  • This study is to development of inorganic insulation material using by-product materials. The organic material is due to toxic gas emission, when a fire occurs. And it has lower water resistance. The inorganic material is heavy and worse thermal performance than organic materials. In this study, cullet and fly ash were used as basic materials in order to secure a recycling technology of by-products which was mostly discarded and reclimed, and measure of physical properties of light-weight ceramic insulator.

  • Perdeuterated hexaflouroacetylacetonato-ytterbium [Yb(SOL-D)$_3$] complexes are synthesized by the keto-enol tautomerism reaction of Yb(SOL-H)$_3$ in methanol-d$_4$ in order to reduce the radiationless transition to the ligands for the high power solid state laser material. The luminescence properties of Yb(SOL-D)$_3$ complex are measured in the following anhydrous deuterated organic solvents ; Methanol-d$_4$, THF-d$_{8}$, PO(O$CH_3$)$_3$ and DMSO-d$_{6}$. The Luminescence intensity, lifetime and quantum efficiency in DMSO-d$_{6}$ are superior to those in other deuterated solvents. It is suggested that the anhydrous DMSO-d$_{6}$ might be the most appropriate solvent for the laser material of Yb(SOL-D)$_3$ complex.complex.

  • This study was evaluated the characteristics of organic materials in the water source and the removal characteristics of organic materials by ultrafiltration including mixing and coagulation process. As a results of the study, it was found that the total organic carbon in the water source was mostly caused by the dissolved organic materials. As the specific ultraviolet absorbance value of the raw water was low, we found the soluble organic material has a high hydrophilic and low molecular material composition ratio. As a result of ultrafiltration experiment including mixing and coagulation process, the average removal rate of total organic carbon, dissolved organic carbon and ultraviolet absorbance at 254 were 37.9%, 30.3%, and 28.2%, respectively.
