이온빔으로 조사된 ITO 전극 표면이 유기 EL 소자성능에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Surface-modified ITO by Ion Beam Irradation on the Organic EL Performances)

  • The influence of on ion beam irradiation to the indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate on the performance of the organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) was studied. ITO films were used as the transparent anode of OLEDs with poly(2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV) as a hole-injection/transport layer. Oxygen and argon plasma treatment of ITO resulted in a change in the work function and the chemical composition. For plasma treated ITO anodes, the device efficiency clearly correlated with the value of the work function. We also discussed the implications of our experimental study in relation to the modification of the ITO surface composition, transmittance, reflectance, and water contact angle (WCA).

Permeation Properties of Composite Thin Film for Organic Based Electronic Devices

  • We fabricated composite materials as a pellet structure with the various kinds of inorganic material powder. The composite materials were deposited onto the plastic film by the electron beam evaporation and water vapor transmission rates (WVTRs) were measured by the MOCON facility. As a result of WVTRs, the composite materials had lower WVTR value than any other inorganic materials. So, these films were proposed to protect the organic light emitting device (OLED) from moisture and oxygen. We can consider that the composite thin-film is one of the more suitable candidates for the thin-film passivation layer in the OLED. And, we are processing the XRD, XPS and EPMA to analyze the property of the composite material. We will also analyze properties of the current-voltage and luminescence for lifetime both the composite thin-film passivated OLED and non-passivated OLED.

유기태양전지의 장시간 안정성 향상을 위한 PEDOT:PSS층의 연구

  • 일반적으로 유기전자소자의 제작에 있어서 Indium tin oxide (ITO)는 뛰어난 전기 광학적 특성을 바탕으로 가장 보편적으로 사용되는 투명전극이다. 특히 유기태양전지(Organic Photovoltaic, OPV)나 유기발광디스플레이(Organic Light Emitting Device)는 ITO 위에 PEDOT:PSS 층을 형성하여 HOMO, LUMO를 조절하고 효율을 향상시키는 역할을 수행하고 있다. 특히 ITO 위의 PEDOT:PSS는 사용되는 용제의 종류나 첨가제 등에 따라 특성이 크게 영향을 받는다. 이때 PEDOT:PSS는 일반적으로 강산성을 띄게 됨으로써 유기전자소자의 장시간 안정성을 저하시키는 원인으로 작용한다. 본 연구에서는 각각 다른 pH level을 가진 PEDOT:PSS의 시간 경과에 따라 투과도와 면저항을 측정하고 각각의 PEDOT을 사용하여 유기태양전지 소자를 제작하였다. 소자제작 30일 경과 후 소자의 효율이 감소하기는 하였으나 그 변화가 일반적으로 사용되는 pH 2의 감소보다 현저히 적었음을 알 수 있다. 이러한 pH 변화가 이를 적용한 투명전극 필름의 전기 광학적 특성인 투과도 면저항 등에는 영항을 거의 미치지 않으면서도 OPV의 효율 변화에는 큰 차이를 보이는 것을 알 수 있다.

  • Multi-layer organic electroluminescent(EL) devices with Al-CsF composite as a cathode were fabricated. This device privides low driving voltage and high quantum efficiency. CsF is evaporated onto and diffuse into electron transport layer. $Alq_3$. The Fermi level of $Alq_3$ moves towards the LUMO level.

나노 사이즈의 Ag dot을 성막한 ITO 애노드의 오존처리에 의한 유기발광소자의 홀 주입 특성 향상 (Enhancement of Hole Injection in Organic Light Emitting Device by using Ozone Treated Ag Nanodots Dispersed on ITO Anode)

  • We report the enhancement of hole injection using ozone-treated Ag nanodots dispersed on indium tin oxide anode in $Ir(ppy)_3-doped$ phosphorescent OLED. Phosphorescent OLED fabricated on Ag nanodots dispersed ITO anode showed a lower turn on voltage and higher luminescence than those of OLEDS prepared commercial ITO anode. Synchrotron x-ray scattering examination results showed that the Ag nanodots dispersed on ITO anode is amorphous structure due to low deposition temperature. It was thought that decrease of the energy barrier height as Ag nanodots changed to $AgO_x$ nanodots by surface treatment using ozone for 10 min led to enhancement of hole injection in phosphorescent OLED. Futhermore, efficient hole injection can be explained by increase of contact region between anode material and organic material through introduction of $Ag_2O$ nanodots.

플라즈마 처리가 유기발광다이오드의 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Plasma Treatment on the OLED Characteristics)

  • The effects of plasma treatment on the ITO/glass substrate before deposition of organic materials were investigated in the fabrication of green light emitting organic devices with $Alq_3-C545T$ fluorescent system. In our experiments, the optimum plasma treatment was obtained at the power and time of 150W and 2 minutes under the $Ar(50%)/O_2$ ambient of 1 mTorr. The green OLED with plasma treatment at 150W for 2 minutes showed the luminance and efficiency of $4700\;cd/m^2$ and 8 lm/W at 10V, respectively. On the contrary, the same structured device without plasma treatment showed much lower performance with the luminance of $2600\;cd/m^2$ and the efficiency of 3.6 lm/W at 10 V.

이종 전극에 의한 OLED 전기적 특성 연구 (Electrical Characteristics of OLED using the Hetero-Electrode)

  • In this study, hetero-electrode structures have been fabricated to increase luminescence efficiency. The presence of a thin layer of Sn or Ag at the organic-aluminum interface enhanced both electron injection efficiency and electroluminescence when compared to OLEDs using homogeneous electrode. In this paper, the effect of the cathode using Sn/Al hetero electrode structure is observed. Electric properties of the OLED using Sn/Al hetero cathode are improved in comparison of only Al cathode. The hetero-electrode existing different energy level induces the advanced structure of OLED can accumulate electron density. The luminescence efficiency of OLED with Sn/Al of Ag/Al cathode is higher because of their higher electron injection efficiency. And, the turn on voltage of the OLED device using Sn thin layer is lowest as about 10 V.

불소 함유된 고분자를 이용한 안정한 청색 발광 유기 EL (Stable Blue Electroluminescence from Fluorine-containing Polymers)

  • We have synthesized new blue light emitting random copolymers, poly(9,9'-n-dioctylfluorene-co-perfluorobenzene-1,4-diyl)s (PFFBs), via Ni(0)-mediated coupling reactions. The weight-average molecular weights ($M_w$) of the PFFB copolymers ranged from 9,000 to 15,000. The PFFB copolymers dissolved in common organic solvents such as THF and toluene. The PL emission peaks of the PFFB copolymers were at around 420, 440, and 470 nm. EL devices were fabricated in ITO/PEDOT/polymer/Ca/Al configurations using these polymers. These EL devices were found to exhibit pure blue emission with approximate CIE coordinates of (0.15, 0.11) at $100cd/m^2$. The blue emissions of these devices might be due to the restriction of the polymer chains to aggregation by introducing of the highly electronegative fluorine moieties. The maximum brightnesses of the PFFB copolymer devices ranged from 140 to $3600cd/m^2$ with maximum efficiencies from 0.2 to 0.6 cd/A. The enhanced efficiency of the PFFB (8/2) copolymer device results from the inhibition of excimer formation by the introduction of the electronegative fluorine moieties into the copolymers.

플라즈마처리를 이용한 은나노와이어 투명전극의 전기적 특성 향상에 관한 연구 (Improvement Electrical Property of AgNWs by Plasma Treatment)

  • Organic light emitting diode (OLED) 나 organic photovoltaic device (OPV)와 같은 유기소자에 전극으로 쓰이고 있는 indium tin oxide (ITO)는 유연한 디바이스에 적용하기에는 유연성이 떨어진다는 문제가 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 ITO를 대체할 수 있는 CNT, Graphene, AgNWs, 전도성 고분자 등의 투명전극에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 CNT, Grapene, 전도성 고분자는 여전히 전기적 특성이 좋지 못하기 때문에 차세대 투명전극으로 사용되기는 어려움이 있다. 반면에 AgNWs는 용액공정으로 제조 단가가 비교적 저렴하며, 높은 전기전도도 특성과 우수한 유연성을 가지는 투명 전극이기 때문에 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 그러나 NW-NW간의 접촉저항이 높아 전도성이 저하된다는 문제점과 Environmental stability가 좋지 못하다는 단점이 여전히 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 AgNW 전극 위에 플라즈마처리를 진행하여 AgNW의 전도성과 Stability를 향상시키고자하였다. 플렉서블한 PET기판위에 AgNW 전극을 Spray Coating하여 균일하게 전극을 형성하였고, 플라즈마 처리를 통해서 기판의 변형없이 AgNW의 저항을 45%이상 향상시켰으며, Stability 또한 아무것도 처리하지 않은 AgNW에 대비하여 2배 이상 향상된 것을 확인하였다.

LED LIGHTING을 활용한 스포츠 재킷 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Sports Jackets Using LED LIGHTING)

  • In this study, we provided examples of light emitting diodes (LEDS) in everyday sportswear and confirmed their usefulness to provide functionality, aesthetics, and entertainment. One type of sports jacket and one set of sportswear were designed and manufactured using LEDs and made available to the general public for use in daily life to provide functionality, aesthetics, and entertainment. To generate digital images, a textural design of a circuit image was developed and applied, and the LEDs were placed on the developed textile in an attempt to merge the LEDs with the design. The product was equipped with a tilt sensor and produced a randomly lighted jacket with LEDs that adjusted according to movement. The LEDs turned on in the desired location by lifting the arm during night sports activities. The tricolor of NEO PIXEL LEDs lit randomly and its rhythmical design could be maximized when moving or exercising outdoors, and also for entertainment. The role of creating interest for lively and unexpected pleasures and the aesthetic beauty of LED lights were also obtained. There was no inconvenience or restriction of movement by LEDs or internal structures using the hot-melting technique, and the removable attachment of the device made it easier to wash.
