  • In ubiquitous environments, many applications need to process data with time and space dimensions. Because of this, there is growing attention not only on gathering spatiotemporal data in ubiquitous environments, but also on processing such data in databases. In order to obtain the full benefits from spatiotemporal data, we need a data model that naturally expresses the properties of spatiotemporal data. In this paper, we introduce three spatiotemporal data models extended from temporal data models. The main goal of this paper is to determine which data model is less complex in the spatiotemporal context. To this end, we compare their query languages in the complexity aspect because the complexity of a query language is tightly coupled with its underlying data model. Throughout our investigations, we show that it is important to intertwine space and time dimensions and keep one-to-one correspondence between an object in the real world and a tuple in a database in order to naturally express queries in ubiquitous applications.

  • The blooming of social media has simulated interest in sentiment analysis. Sentiment analysis aims to determine from a specific piece of content the overall attitude of its author in relation to a specific item, product, brand, or service. In sentiment analysis, the focus is on the subjective sentences. Hence, in order to discover and extract the subjective information from a given text, researchers have applied various methods in computational linguistics, natural language processing, and text analysis. The aim of this paper is to provide an in-depth up-to-date study of the sentiment analysis algorithms in order to familiarize with other works done in the subject. The paper focuses on the main tasks and applications of sentiment analysis. State-of-the-art algorithms, methodologies and techniques have been categorized and summarized to facilitate future research in this field.

  • Photoelastic isochromatic fringes related to the difference of principal stresses have some bandwidth whose light intensities are not constant and asymmetrical in experimental images. Hence, it is difficult to measure fringe order accurately at a data point by visual observation. In this study, a method of fringe sharpening, which can extract shapened lines from both full-and half-order fringes by digital image processing, is developed. To test the method, various simple photelastic fringe patterns are simulated and their images are processed to yield sharpened lines. The method is then applied to general problems such as images of a circular disk compressed by diametrically concentrated loads and a circular cylinder sybject to internal pressure. The procedure is proved to be capable of extracting sharpened lines accurately from photoelastic isochromatic fringes.

  • We had been developing the variety of parallel processing systems in order to improve the processing speed of visual media applications. These systems were using multi-access memory system(MAMS) as a parallel memory system, which provides the capability of the simultaneous accesses of image points in a line-segment with an arbitrary degree, which is required in many low-level image processing operations such as edge or line detection in a particular direction, and so on. But, the performance of these systems did not give a faithful speed because of asynchronous feature between MAMS and processing elements. To improve the processing speed of these systems, we have been investigated a pipelined parallel processing system using MAMS. Although the system is considered as being the single instruction multiple data(SIMD) type like the early developed systems, the performance of the system yielded about 2.5 times faster speed.

  • The consumption of meat processing products in was creased in Korean recently. Morever the demand of tasted meat processing products being gradual increase in general tendency, and so we expect that in the continuing of westernizing for food life and universalizing of urvanism, the demand of meat processing products. In order to improve the marketing strategies for the meat processing industries, consummeris particular behaviors were analyzed as for consummer's recognition, recognition of problem, the evaluation of substitutional proposal, the decision of purchasing intention an purchasing behavior and the evaluation of post-purchasing to the meat processing products.

  • Primary purpose of the system developed in this study is 3-D seismic data processing system for subsurface structure imaging and this system is developed in PC based on Linux for lower-cost computer. Basic data processing modules are originated from SU (Seismic Unix) which is widely used in 2-D seismic data processing and auxilious modules are developed for 3-D data processing. The system which is constructed by using these data processing modules is designed to GUI (Graphic User Interface) in order that one can easily control and for this purpose, GTK (Gimp Tool KiT) conventionally adapted in producing Linux application.

  • As current algorithms unable to perform effective fusion processing of unknown complex radar signals lacking database, and the result is unstable, this paper presents a multi-level fusion processing algorithm for complex radar signals based on evidence theory as a solution to this problem. Specifically, the real-time database is initially established, accompanied by similarity model based on parameter type, and then similarity matrix is calculated. D-S evidence theory is subsequently applied to exercise fusion processing on the similarity of parameters concerning each signal and the trust value concerning target framework of each signal in order. The signals are ultimately combined and perfected. The results of simulation experiment reveal that the proposed algorithm can exert favorable effect on the fusion of unknown complex radar signals, with higher efficiency and less time, maintaining stable processing even of considerable samples.

  • When a hierarchical structure is derived from data set for data mining and machine learning, using a conceptual clustering algorithm, one of the unsupervised learning paradigms, it is not unusual to have a different set of outcomes with respect to the order of processing data objects. To overcome this problem, the first classification process is proceeded to construct an initial partition. The partition is expected to imply the possible range in the number of final classes. We apply center sorting to the data objects in the classes of the partition for new data ordering and build a new partition using ITERATE clustering procedure. We developed an algorithm, REIT that leads to the final partition with stable and best partition score. A number of experiments were performed to show the minimization of order bias effects using the algorithm.

  • Emerging trends in the area of digital very large scale integration (VLSI) signal processing can lead to a reduction in the cost of the cochlear implant. Digital signal processing algorithms are repetitively used in speech processors for filtering and encoding operations. The critical paths in these algorithms limit the performance of the speech processors. These algorithms must be transformed to accommodate processors designed to be high speed and have less area and low power. This can be realized by basing the design of the auditory filter banks for the processors on digital VLSI signal processing concepts. By applying a folding algorithm to the second-order digital gammatone filter (GTF), the number of multipliers is reduced from five to one and the number of adders is reduced from three to one, without changing the characteristics of the filter. Folded second-order filter sections are cascaded with three similar structures to realize the eighth-order digital GTF whose response is a close match to the human cochlea response. The silicon area is reduced from twenty to four multipliers and from twelve to four adders by using the folding architecture.

  • The total processing time nay vary according to the order of visit when a mobile agent is sequentially migrated to another node. An effective migration algorithm is one in which the processing time is kept to its minimum from the initial state to the destination state by ordering the process. The total time spend for the process can be minimized by adopting an effective migration algorithm. Existing mobile agents such as Aglets. Voyager, and Odyssey do not guarantee the effectiveness by not taking the status of the network and the node to be moved into upon the migration. This paper proposes AMIS as the method used for the migration of the mobile agent. AMIS minimizes the total migration time of the mobile agent, and provides a firm and safe order for the migration of the mobile agent.
