Background: Breast and cervical cancers are among the most frequent and most fatal cancers in women. Life span of patients may be increased and quality of life improved through early diagnosis and treatment. This investigation was performed in order to determine knowledge and practices of female health personnel working at a university hospital regarding breast and cervical cancers. Materials and Methods: This descriptive investigation was performed in Erciyes University Hospitals in 2014. A total of 524 female health personnel were included in the study. Data were collected through a questionnaire of 36 questions prepared by the researchers. The Chi square test and logistic regression were used for statistical analyses. Results: The mean age of the study group was $32.8{\pm}6.9$ years, 18.3% being doctors and 81.7% nurses. Of the study group, 60.5% stated that they performed self breast-examination, 4.4% underwent HPV testing, 26.3% thought about taking an HPV test, 34.7% of those who are 40 years and over had mammography regularly and 19.5% of those who were married had a Pap smear conducted regularly. Most important causes of not performing the methods for early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancers are "forget and neglect". Conclusions: It was concluded that female doctors and nurses do not pay sufficient attention to screening programs for breast and cervical cancers. The importance of early diagnosis and treatment should be emphasized during the undergraduate education and in-service training programs. Health condition of personnel and their utilization of preventive health care should be followed by occupational physicians.
PURPOSE. Xerostomia can diminish the quality of life, leads to changes in normal chemical composition of saliva and oral microbiata, and increases the risk for opportunistic infections, such as Candida albicans. Various artificial salivas have been considered for patients with xerostomia. However, the knowledge on the antifungal and antiadhesive activity of artificial saliva substitutes is limited. The aim of the present study was to evaluate influence of two artificial salivas on the adhesion of Candida albicans to the polymethylmethacrylate disc specimens. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two commercial artificial salivas (Saliva Orthana and Biotene Oral Balance Gel) were selected. 45 polymethylmethacrylate disc specimens were prepared and randomly allocated into 3 groups; Saliva Orthana, Biotene-Oral Balance gel and distilled water. Specimens were stored in the artificial saliva or in the sterile distilled water for 60 minutes at $37^{\circ}C$. Then they were exposed to yeast suspensions including Candida albicans. Yeast cells were counted using ${\times}40$ magnification under a light microscope and data were analysed. RESULTS. Analysis of data indicated statistically significant difference in adhesion of Candida albicans among all experimental groups (P=.000). Findings indicated that Saliva Orthana had higher adhesion scores than the Biotene Oral Balance gel and distilled water (P<.05). CONCLUSION. In comparison of Saliva Orthana, the use of Biotene Oral Balance Gel including lysozyme, lactoferrin and peroxidase may be an appropriate treatment method to prevent of adhesion of Candida albicans and related infections in patients with xerostomia.
This study was to figure out the influence of oral health behavior and periodontal status on their OHIP-14. Explained to 255 people who visited the scaling center of Dental Hygienics of a college in Gyeongbuk from March 7th to June 13th 2014 and it was agreed to perform. Result of dental plaque and calculus rate of those with no TBI were high; the less frequent do they teeth brushing the higher were their rate of dental plaque, bleeding and calculus, while their OHIP-14 was low. The rate of calculus of whom with no education on dental floss use and who do not use dental flosswas high. The more powerful for those with higher rate of dental plaque; while the lower was the rate of calculus the higher was OHIP-14. Therefore, the more do they brush their teeth and the lower are the rate of their calculus, the more positively has it been figured out to influence on the quality of their life of oral health. Consequently, public health program should be developed to educate them on the necessity of scaing on a regular basis and the cause calculus of occurrence, as well as a media through which they can easily participate in the program.

Objective: Fatigue can decrease both quality of life and work efficiency. Ginseng is one of the most popular herbal treatments for improving personal health, with applications in treating fatigue. However, the exact mechanisms of anti-fatigue effects are still unclear. Thus, we investigated the effect of red ginseng powder (RGP) on exercise capacity and peripheral fatigue using both behavioral and molecular experiments in mice. Design: Four-groups behavioral and molecular experiment. Methods: Male 6-weeks-old ICR mice were treated with distilled water, 100, and 200 mg/kg RGP for 5 days via oral administration. The exercise capacity of each animal group was measured by locomotor activity, rota-rod, hanging wire, and cold swimming tests. Additionally, after performing the treadmill to induce fatigue, lactate expression and molecular experiments were investigated using mice gastrocnemius. Results: Mice treated with RGP exhibited increased exercise capacity in the behavioral tests. Additionally, RGP induced a dose-dependent decrease in lactate levels after high-intensity exercise, and Monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) 4 expression increased in groups treated with RGP. However, there was no significant change in MCT1. Conclusions: These results suggest that RGP exerts several anti-fatigue properties by lower lactate and improved exercise capacity. Increased MCT4 expression may also affect lactate transport. Thus, this study suggests that the anti-fatigue properties of RGP might be associated with MCT4 activity.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to conduct an in-depth interview with dentists in order to provide fundamental data regarding their thoughts in relation to the dental hygiene process of care and its necessity in clinical practice, with the aim of ensuring that dental hygienists can perform their duties as experts. Method : Following explanation of the study, we administered the questionnaire to those who agreed to participate between September 26 and October 28, 2017. A Naver-form (mobile) questionnaire was distributed to the research subjects for data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 24.0. Analysis was performed by calculating the frequency and percentage of the general characteristics of the subjects, occupational expertise, and the dental hygiene process of care. Result : Among the 56 research subjects, 48 (85.7 %) were men and 8 (14.3 %) were women. Awareness on the part of respondents of the job responsibilities associated with the dental hygiene process of care ratio was as follows: 11 (19.6 %) categorized their level of knowledge regarding the dental hygienist's job duties as "very much know"; 13 (23.2 %) as "somewhat know"; 18 (32.1 %) as "neither"; and 9 (16.1 %) as "somewhat don't know", while 5 (9.0 %) said "I have no idea". The dental hygiene process of care was categorized as "very much necessary" by 50.0 % of respondents; as "somewhat necessary" by 35.7 %; and as "neither" by 14.3 %. Conclusion : The dental hygiene process of care is one of the methods used to continuously manage patients with dental-related concerns. Recently, the management of patients in the dental clinic has changed from a disease treatment model to a concept of active prevention for improving the quality of life related to oral health. The dental hygiene process of care is considered a very necessary dental health care service because it functions to continuously introduce oral health care or preventive care programs in clinical practice.

The study aims to determine the status of oral health of mental illness patients and establish the preliminary data. The examinations and questionnaire survey were done 92 psychiatric patients to measure sociodemographic characteristics, decayed, missing and filled teeth (DMFT) index, patient hygiene performance (PHP) index, community periodontal index of treatment need (CPITN). Result of the missing teeth index in the state of oral health was higher in the hospital group (6.42) while the filled teeth index was higher in the center group (4.78). In the DMFT index, mental illness patients were higher than the national sample. The oral health status of medical aid recipients was poorer as the subjects were older and less educated (p<0.05). The PHP index was 3.41, close to the bad oral hygiene state. The hospital group (81.7%) required higher need for periodontal treatment. The periodontal health state was much poorer especially when the subject was in the age of 40's and 60's, received less education, and had no family (p<0.05). $CPITN_3$ was higher in the hospital group (13.3%) than the national sample (5.7%). The mental illness patients were socially vulnerable, therefore oral health care program should be needed and age, education level, health insurance type, presence of family and other factors needs to be considered in this approach.

Purpose: As life expectancy increases and interest in oral health increases, the opportunity to visit the dentist increases. To provide safe dental care for elderly patients and accurately identify their needs. We aim to understand the impact of knowledge, image, and empathy for the elderly on communication skills. Research design, data, and methodology: This study conducted an online survey using a convenience sample of 201 dental hygienists working in dental hospitals and clinics from October 4 to October 6, 2023. The purpose of the survey was explained and consent was obtained in the research consent form before being conducted. Results: Differences in knowledge, image, empathy, and communication skills among the elderly include age, clinical experience, need for elderly-related education, and confidence in oral care in elderly patients with systemic diseases (p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.001). The factor affecting communication skills toward the elderly was empathy (t=15.416(0.000***)). Conclusions: Through this study, the communication skills with the elderly is a basic quality and attitude that dental hygienists must have. Therefore, it is essential to develop and implement empathy and communication skills training programs for dental hygienists, which can significantly contribute to fostering a positive trust-based relationship between elderly patients and dental professionals. This proactive measure is crucial in preparing for the upcoming era of an increasingly aged society.
This study investigated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of Galla Rhois (Rhus verniciflua) on LPS (lipopolysaccharide)-stimulated human osteoblastic cells (MG-63). The aim of this study was to evaluate the LPS induced nitric oxide (NO) production and antioxidant radical in human osteoblast-like MG-63 cells. Therefore, the present work indicate that Galla Rhois extracts may be an ideal candidate for further research into their use for dental caries prevention component as well as, natural plant-based products. This suggested that 80% methanol and hexane extracts of Galla Rhois were inhibited NO generation and 1,1-diphenyl-2-pirylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. Therefore, 80% methanol and hexane extracts of Galla Rhois may be utilized as a good source of protection against inflammation and oxidative stress. This study is intended to pursue wellness convergence in quality of life in the excavations in natural ingredients to create a variety of oral products with fewer side effects, cheap oral products for the dental treatment.
Purpose: Food Allergen Immunotherapy (Oral) is a form of immunotherapy administered to patients who are allergic to foods such as egg, milk, and peanut. The food allergen is orally administered to the patient in an escalating dose for desensitization or tolerance development. The safety and effectiveness of the therapy were assessed using a systematic literature review and meta-analysis. Methods: For a literature search, 8 national databases and a number of international databases including Ovid-MEDLINE, Ovid-EMBASE, and Cochrane Library were used; and 13 articles (all from international databases) were selected. The target of Food Allergen Immunotherapy (Oral) included patients with food allergy, and the intervention was food allergen immunotherapy without limiting the food type. The safety and effectiveness of Food Allergen Immunotherapy (Oral) were assessed by reviewing all the articles reporting on the therapy. The control group received standard therapies including aversion therapy, no treatment, anti-histamine treatment, and placebo. Safety was assessed through the incidence of complication and emergency medication. Effectiveness was assessed based on therapy success rate, symptomatic improvement, and quality of life. Results: Although Food Allergen Immunotherapy (Oral) was shown to have successful desensitization in patients with food allergy, the safety of the technique has not yet reached an acceptable level; the possible reason is due to the high rate of complication and frequency of emergency medication. Also, each study employed varying protocols while relying on a small number of participants and a short monitoring period. Conclusion: The results of assessment suggest that the level of evidence from current literature review is low and further research is necessitated for the verification of the safety and effectiveness of the therapy (Grade of Recommendation: A; Level of Technology: II-b).
