Satisfaction with oral health improvement showed a positive correlation with educators' work attitude, satisfaction with educational activities, and improvement in self-management attitude. Conclusions: To improve satisfaction with home-visiting oral health education, the development of various educational programs and standardization of educator work manuals are necessary.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the convergence factors affecting behavior of oral health improvement perceived by the subjective oral health awareness perception factors in some college students. The questionnaire was conducted from April 10, 2017 to April 30, 2013 for 300 students at S university and the and the 290 final data were used. Oral health knowledge, oral health importance measured by 5-point, oral health status and oral health interest are 11.46, 1.71, 2.78, 2.52 respectively. Significant differences from experience of oral health education for oral health knowledge, oral health importance, oral health interest have been observed. The convergence factors influencing acts of oral health promotion were oral health status(${\beta}=-0.188$) and oral health interest(${\beta}=-0.265$) the higer the oral health status and oral health interest, the better acts of oral health promotion. Therefore, effective oral health education programs should be developed to increase oral health knowledge and interest in oral health and to change behavior and attitude.

  • The purpose of this study was to reveal analyze the relationship between status of participation in an oral health care program and oral health outcomes among patients in Korea, and to evaluate the results to provide evidence regarding the feasibility of widespread implementation of the program. Patients were designated as either cooperative or non-cooperative with the oral health care program and were assigned to each group accordingly. Modified dental hygiene process (M-DHP) of the oral healthcare program was modified to form the dental hygiene process. The study included 48 patients at a dental clinic in Busan, Korea. Questionnaires were used to collect information on oral health behavior (OHB), clinical examination was used to record bleeding on probing (BOP) and O'Leary index, and phase microscopy was used to identify microorganisms. Differences between groups were evaluated using repeated measures ANOVA. Our results showed that the group cooperative with the oral health care program showed greater improvement in OHB, BOP, and O'Leary index than the non-cooperative group. Second, patient satisfaction with the M-DHP was very high, particularly for content and the friendly nature of the staff. The cooperative group showed greater improvement in oral health than the non-cooperative group for all metrics. Our results suggest that this low-coste program, if implemented, would be actively accepted and utilized in dental clinics.

Oral health belief and oral health promotion behavior according to general characteristics were analyzed with t-test, one-way ANOVA, and the correlation with Pearson's correlation test. The convergence factors affecting oral health promotion were performed multiple regression analysis. The convergence factors affecting oral health promotion were performed multiple regression analysis. Oral health belief was the highest with 3.61 points, with 4.06 points of benefit, while oral health promotion with 3.25 points. Convergence factors affecting oral health improvement were shown as susceptibility (${\beta}=-0.210$), salienece(${\beta}=0.396$), seriousness(${\beta}=0.306$), and barrier(${\beta}=-0.170$). To explore ways to change the oral health beliefs of high school students, the school district health education is very important, and various oral health education programs to promote oral health promotion should be developed.

The perceived oral health of the former was 2.49-fold worse(95% CI=1.73-3.60) than the latter. Conclusions: The influencing factors of perceived oral health status included occupation, perceived health status and chewing problems. To improve the oral health-related quality of life in the elderly, continuous education and hands-on programs should be provided for the elderly in the long term care.

  • Objectives: This research has executed a new oral health promotion program among the elderly residents of a long-term care center, which purpose was to verify its effectiveness of oral health promotion through the improvement of their oral function. Methods: This study has selected the elderly over the age of 65, capable of communication, who use a long-term care center over the period of two months between July and September 2014. The subjects who remained until the final analysis numbered 50 excluding the dropouts during the program session (experimental: 33, control : 17). The oral stretching program was exercised two days a week, for total of two months. Each function was assessed by the standardized methods and measurement equipment. Also the sum of each function was converted into the oral health grade. Results: The oral function score of the experimental group also showed a statistically significant difference after the execution of the program, where the oral function score of experimental group increased $6.70{\pm}1.30$ from $4.95{\pm}0.89$ after the execution of the program (p<0.05), while the comparison group showed no valid statistical difference with the score result of $5.00{\pm}0.87$ down from $5.11{\pm}0.93$ after the execution of the program (p>0.05). Conclusions: Therefore if the oral health promotion program is reflected to the welfare policy in the future, it can be said that it contributes to the improved health status of the elderly who reside in the long-term care centers.

  • We examined progress in oral health of Korean 5 year olds children and dental public health infrastructure since the National Health Promotion Plan 2010 Oral Health Objectives were issued. We summarize trends in the prevalence of dental caries and trends in national public oral health program activities and budget. The Oral Health Objectives were achieved in 2006. Oral health in Korean preschool children improved considerably by improving of lifestyle and consumption of fluoride containing toothpaste. Although the number of public oral health center and the budget of oral health education were increased, the impact of public oral health program for preschool children was not influential. New oral health program for infants such as fluoride varnish application and strengthening of existing public oral health program should be performed for continuing improvement of oral health in Korea.
