  • Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a neoplasm that arises most commonly in pleura. Although SFT occasionally occurs in extrapleural locations, the incidence in the oral cavity is rare. SFT is benign in almost cases and surgical excision is the effective treatment. SFT occurred in the left cheek of a 60-year-old man presented with a painless submucosal mass. The tumor was surgically removed. Immunohistochemical study showed that tumoral cells were negative for SMA, S-100, but positive for Bcl-2, CD34. SFT is easily over-diagnosed if strict criteria are not carefully applied, and strict diagnostic criteria are necessary to avoid confusion of SFT with more aggressive lesions.

  • Behcet Disease is a multisystem inflammatory disorder of unknown orign. It is characterized by recurrent oral ulcer, genital ulcer, skin lesions and ocular inflammation, and which may involve the joints, skin, central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Because Behcet Disease dose not have any specific symptoms and laboratory findings, the diagnosis is made on the basis of the criteria proposed by the the International Study Group for Behcet Disease. Behcet Disease is affecting both arteries and veins, and clinically manifest large vessel involvement occurs in between 7 and 49% of patients. Superior vena cava thrombosis is a rare but well-recognized manifestation of Behcet disease. We report a case of a Behcet Disease with superior vena cava thrombosis in a patient presenting delayed facial wound healing.

  • Macroglossia can create dental and skeletal instability after orthodontic treatment or orthognathic surgery for mandibular prognathism. In relevant literature, partial glossectomy is suggested for a good post-treatment prognosis. Most of the published partial glossectomy cases are two-staged surgery, because of concern about postoperative airway obstruction. As orthognathic surgical techniques and fixation method develop, however, concerns about postoperative airway obstruction have lessened. In this case, mandibular setback surgery and partial glossectomy were performed simultaneously, leading to stable recovery without any postoperative respiratory problems. After surgical technique to preserve the tongue tip, we achieved good outcomes without postoperative side effects of lingual hypoesthesia, pronunciation disorder and dyskinesia. We report this case with a literature review.

  • We experienced a case of rhinocerebral form of mucormycosis in a 9-year-old male suffered from acute lymphocytic leukemia (FAB $L_2$). On 15th day of induction chemotherapy (Hospital day 23) pain, tenderness and swelling on left maxillary area of face were noticed. We confirmed mucormycosis by biopsy of mass in left maxillary sinus. • When the midfacial fractures involve the upper maxilla (LeFort I, II, III), there is a chance that the nasolacrimal duck may have been injured. When this suspected, We must observe the presence of epiphora carefully. If the epiphora was not improved following conservative treatment, dacryocystorhinostomy would be the treatment of choice. We performed two cases of DCR and got the favorable results.

  • Purpose: To establish management protocol for mandibular angle fracture, we describe pertinent factors including cause, impacted third molar and recent treatment tendency. Methods: We examined the records of 62 patients who had unilateral mandibular angle fracture. Sixty patients who had open reduction surgery were examined at postoperative weeks 1, 4, 8, 12, and 28. Results: Left mandibular angle fracture is frequent in younger males. Presence of the mandibular third molar can increase fracture risk. Because of attached muscle, favorable fractures occurred primarily in the mandibular angle area. Conclusion: Extracting the mandibular third molar can prevent angle fractures, and open reduction with only one plate adaptation is generally the proper treatment method for mandibular angle fracture.

  • Oral metastatic tumors are uncommon and account for about 1% of malignant oral neoplasm. The metastatic lesions are common in breast, lung, kidney and thyroid cancer. About 20% of oral mucosal metastasis is founded before detection of primary lesions. Usually, the metastatic lesions of the oral cavity are involved in the jaw bone, especially mandible more than the oral soft tissues. We report a case diagnosed as the stomach cancer with mandible metastatic lesion looking like TMJ abscess.
