Lipoma is most common tumor that compromises 4% to 5% of all benign neoplasm, but in oral cavity it is uncommon. In oral cavity, lipoma presents painless, asymptomatic, slow growing, but sometimes it grows to larger size causing deformities, mastication and speech difficulties. While lipoma in commonly affects female patients (68-73%), oral lipoma appears more frequently in male patients. The majority of oral lipoma is seen after the age of forty (uncommon in children). Lipoma of oral cavity and maxillofacial region occurs most commonly in the parotid region, followed by the buccal mucosa, lip, tongue, palate, mouth floor, gingiva in order. A treatment of lesion is surgical excision with recurrence not expected. In this paper we present the case of a patient who has Lipoma in the mouth floor.

Temporoparietal fascial flap (TPFF) has been used in the reconstruction of a broad spectrum of complex defect of head & neck it can be used as pedicled flap or free flap. TPFF is extensively is good for reconstruction of auricular defects because it is fascial flap with ease of covering irregular surface. TPFF is supplied by the superficial temporal artery & vein and innervated by zygomatico-temporal branch of facial nerve and auriculotemporal nerve. The flap ranges from 2-4mm in thickness and can be harvested up to 17x14cm wide, it can include calvarian bone and enables primary closure of donor site. We carried out reconstruction of oral cavity defects by means of TPFF with a satisfactory result in two cases of oral cavity cancer.

Background and Objectives The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the usefulness of a posterior-based buccinator myomucosal flap (the Bozola flap) for the reconstruction of oral cavity defects after tongue cancer resection. Subjects and Method Fifteen patients who underwent from 2014 to 2016 reconstruction of the oral cavity with a Bozola flap after surgical management of tongue cancer were enrolled in the study. Patient characteristics, surgical outcomes, and complications associated with the Bozola flap were evaluated. Results The flap was successfully harvested and transferred in all patients. The mean flap harvesting time was 25.3 min. The donor site was closed primarily in 14 patients, and a buccal fat pad flap was used in one patient. Although partial necrosis of the flap occurred in two patients, no other major complications were noted. Conclusion The results of this study demonstrate that the Bozola flap is a good option for reconstruction of moderate sized oral cavity defects in tongue cancer patients.

Verrucous carcinoma is a distinctive form of low-grade squamous cell carcinoma. The tumor has an exophytic, cauliflower-like appearance, and usually occurs in males and tends to affect individuals over 60 years of age. It typically involves the oral cavity, larynx, esophagus and skin. Most intraoral cases involve the mandibular vestibule, the buccal mucosa and the hard palate. The cause is unknown, but most verrucous carcinomas arise from the oral mucosa in people who chronically use chewing tobacco or snuff. The treatment of oral verrucous carcinoma remains controversial. Whenever possible, surgically total excision and skin or mucosal grafting is recommended. After total excision of huge verrucous carcinoma, instead of dermal or mucosal grafting, we used artificial dermis silicone membrane. We had a good result without recurrence and present this case.
Verrucous carcinoma is a distinctive, extremely well-differentiated, slow-growing variant of the squamous cell carcinoma. Verrucous carcinoma of the oral cavity is relatively rare. McCoy reported about 49 verrucous carcinomas of the oral cavity. McCoy reported that the most common site of occurrence was the buccal mucosa, followed by the mandibular alveolar ridge and gingiva, and that The majority of the patients were between the ages of 50 and 80 years. Although most other series of oral verrucous carcinoma show a male predominence, our case occurred in female. The role of radiation therapy in treatment of oral verrucous carcinoma is controversial, and adequate surgical excision appears to be the treatment of choice. In this paper a case of verrucous carcinoma of the buccal mucosa and a review of the literature is presented.

Benign fibrous histiocytoma (FH) is a benign tumor composed of fibroblasts and histiocytes in varying proportions. This tumor is usually found in adult extremities but rarely occurs in deep soft tissues of the oral cavity. As it is difficult to diagnose with physical and radiologic exams, deep benign FH can only be diagnosed by histopathology. We report a case of a 36-year-old female patient who came to our department with painless swelling in the right buccal mucosa. This case report reviews the clinical, radiological, and histological aspects of this tumor.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the neck node metastasis pattern and related clinical factors in oral cavity cancer patients. Materials and Methods: In total, 76 patients (47 males, 29 females) with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) who had no previous malignancies and were not undergoing neoadjuvant concomitant chemoradiotherapy or radiotherapy were selected for analysis. Results: Occult metastases were found in 8 of 52 patients with clinically negative nodes (cN0, 15.4%). Neck node metastases were found in 17 patients (22.4%). There was a statistically significant relationship between neck node metastasis and T stage (P=0.014) and between neck node metastasis and distant metastasis (Fisher's exact test, P=0.019). Conclusion: Neck node metastasis was significantly related to tumor size and distant metastasis during follow-up.

There are very few case reports of the diagnosis and management of concurrent oral cavity and parapharyngeal space tumors. We present a case involving a 49-year-old female who presented with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma confirmed by biopsy. Initial diagnostic workup revealed a concurrent parapharyngeal mass. Diagnostic studies and surgical therapy were tailored to account for both pathological entities. The patient was treated with a combination of surgery and adjuvant therapy. The surgical strategy was designed to address both lesions simultaneously. One year post-surgery, the patient had good response to therapy with no evidence of persistent or recurrent disease. This report discusses the outcome and treatment of a rare case of concurrent squamous cell carcinoma with a complicating parapharyngeal space tumor. It explores the diagnostic process, comprehensive workup, and the surgical management.
Purpose : To investigate the reproducibility of the conventional and digital radiographs to determine the depth of approximal root cavities. Materials and Methods : A total of 80 artificial root cavities were prepared in the approximal surfaces of premolars, maxillary and mandibular molars. Standardized radiographs were taken at the baseline (0° horizontal and 0° vertical) and at a horizontal angulation of 10° in both mesial and distal directions. Radiographic cavity depths were measured by both conventional and digital radiographs. Results: At 0° horizontal angulation, no statistically significant differences could be determined between the results of conventionally and digitally determined radiographic depths with respect to the actual cavity depths in all premolar, maxillary, and mandibular molar groups. All conventional and digital radiographic depths at both 10° mesial and distal angulations showed statistically significant increases in depth compared to the actual cavity depths (p < 0.05), with the exception of digital radiographic depth at 10° mesial angulation for premolars. There were no statistically significant differences between conventional and digital radiographic depths for all groups. Conclusion: The present study suggests that both conventional and digital radiographs provide reproducible assessment of the depth of the approximal root cavity. But horizontal X-ray beam movements are likely to result in increase in radiographic cavity depth.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze some factors that can cause incidence of the muscle and skeletal system trouble, by which Dental Hygiene Students examine the pain and the inconvenient feeling according to kinds in manual implements and the usability in the level of manipulating and maintaining the manual implement, in the actual training of the intra oral cavity along with mannequin given the scaling practice. Methods : Targeting 18 female juniors for the department of dental hygiene, who had directly practiced oral prophylaxis for 2 years, the questionnaire research was carried out right after the mutual practice in the intra oral cavity along with mannequin. Results : It was indicated that there is no big difficulty both in intra oral cavity and mannequin in terms of manipulating implement with a method of maintaining the rightly hand fixing or of grasping the trans formative pencil and of controlling force given manipulating the implement. How to grasp a trans formative pencil was indicated to be more difficult in the intra-oral manipulation(p<.05). Pain and inconvenient-feeling level, which occur in muscle and skeletal system during practicing the scaling in mannequin, were indicated to be in order of shoulder, wrist, neck, waist, elbow, and headache. Conclusion : There was no big difference in the pain and the inconvenient feeling in muscle and skeletal system according to mannequin and intra-oral environment given manipulating tile manual implement. However, there was difference in manipulating the implement with a method of grasping transformative pencil. The pain and inconvenient feeling in muscle and skeletal system were the highest both in shoulder and wrist.
