A superplastic material, aluminum-lithium alloy 8090, was examined with uniaxial tensile tests to investigate its thermomechanical behavior. The tests were carried out at the strain rate ranging from $2X10^4 to 1X10^2$ and at the temperature from 48$0^{\circ}C$ to 54$0^{\circ}C$. The experiments produced force-dis-placement curves which were converted to stress-strain curves. From the curves, the optimum conditions of superplastic forming were obtained by deteriming the strain rate sensitivety, the optimum strain rate, and the strength coefficient for various forming temperatures.
The high temperature deformation behavior of spray-formed Al-19wt%Si-1.87wt%Mg-0.085wt.%Fe alloy was studied by torsion testing in the strain rate range of 0.001-1 sec-1 and in the temperature range of 300-500 $^{\circ}C$. The relationship between stress temperature and strain rate is expressed using the Power law. the behavior of dynamic recrystallization is showed in 300-35$0^{\circ}C$, 1-0.1sec-1 and the behavior of dynamic recovery is showed in 450-50$0^{\circ}C$, 0.01-0.001sec-1 The size of Si particles is mall when the temperature is low and the strain rate is high. The strain rate sensitivity(m) and the apparent activation energy(Q) indicate the dependence on strain rate and temperature for flow stress respectively. The hot ductility is high when m is high and Q is low. The maps of strain rate sensitivity and apparent activation energy suggest the optimum processing conditions.
The mechanical properties of Al 6061 excluded bar were deformed in high temperature with the variable deformation conditions and characterized by the tensile test. Three types of different strain rate were experimentally performed by using hydraulic press, crank press and hammer and two types of the nominal strain 0.5 and 0.8 were achieved. To decide optimum forging process, the relationship among the strain rate, strain and mechanical properties was explained by analyzing the microstructures of the forged and heat heated parts. The strength was deeply related with the strain rate due to the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) in hot forging, and the best forging condition was presented in Al 6061 alloy.
In this study, the casting/forging process was applied in manufacturing a low control arm, in order to prove that application of casting/forging process to Al6061 is likely to get the effect of light weight compared with existing steel products and to reduce the cost of materials. Firstly, In order to set up the optimum casting condition of the forging material, Al6061, casting experiments were carried out by controlling pouring temperature of the aluminum for casting, mold temperature, and pouring time. $700^{\circ}C$ pouring temperature, $300^{\circ}C$ mold temperature and 10-second pouring time were taken into account as the optimum casting conditions. With respect to a hot forging test, it is practiced on the basis of a temperature of materials, strain rate, and reduction rate so as to observe each microstructure and examine strain-stress curve simultaneously; examine tensile test and hardness test; eventually set up the optimum hot forging condition. A hot forging test, tensile test, hardness experiment, and microstructure observation were carried out on condition of $70\%$ reduction rate, $500^{\circ}C$ temperature of materials, and 1 strain rate. As a result of those experiments, 330MPa tensile strength, $16.4\%$ elongation, and 122.8Hv hardness were recorded. In oder to get a sound preform which has no unfitting cavity and less flash, two preforms were proposed on the basis of volume rate of the final product; the optimum volume rate of preform for the low control arm was $115\%$. In conclusion, it is confirmed that using the forging material rather than casting materials in casting/forging process is likely to get more superior mechanical properties. Compared with Al6061, performed by means of general forging, moreover, cast/forged Al6061 can not only stimulate productivity by reducing production processes, but cut down the cost of materials by reusing forging scraps.
A superlastic material, aluminum - lithium alloy 8090, were examined with uniaxial tensile test to investigate its thermomechanical behavior. The tests were carried out at the strain-rates ranging from 2${\times}$10-4 to 1${\times}$10-2 and at the temperatures from 48 0$^{\circ}C$ to 540$^{\circ}C$. The experiments produced force-displacement curves which converted to stress-strain curves. From the curves, several important superplastic factor such as strain-rate sensitivity, optimum strain-rate and strength coefficient were obtained.
The high temperature behavior of Al 6061 alloy was characterized by the hot torsion test in the temperature ranges of 400∼550℃ and the strain rate ranges of 0.05∼5/sec. To decide optimum deformation condition, three types of deformation maps were individually made from the critical strain (εc). deformation resistance(σp) and deformation efficiency (η). The critical strain(εc) for dynamic recrystallization (DRX) which was decided from the inflection point of strain hardening rate(θ) - effective stress (σ) curve was about 0.65 times of peak strain (εp). The relationship among deformation resistance (peak stress, σp), strain rate (ε), and temperature (T) could be expressed by ε=2.9×1013[sinh(0.0256σp]7.3exp (-216,000/RT). The deformation efficiency (η)which was calculated on the basis of the dynamic materials model (DMM) showed high values at the condition of 500∼550℃, 5/sec for 100% strain. The results from three deformation maps were compared with microstructures. The best condition of plastic deformation could be determined as 500℃ and 5/sec.
The result of isolated and selected to the strain having the emulsifying activity from soil's strain the strain was identified as Candida genus. The strain was investigated with culture condition at pH culture temperature, flow rate of air, strring rate etc., and physicochemical properties of the biosurfactant were examined. The optimum composition of medium for a strain cultivation were obtained as follow : glucose ; 100g/L, yeast extract ; 10g/L, urea ; 1.0g/L, KH$_{2}$PO$_{4}$ ; 50mg/L, MgSO$_{4}$ ; 500mg/L, and the op condition of cultivation was as follow : pH ; 3.0, temperatlue ; 24$\circ $C, strring rate ; 40rpm. The maximum yield of biosurfactant was obtained by pH ; 3.0-3.5, and temperature ; 25$\circ $C. The degree of emulsification of syntesized biosurfactant was increased clearly by increasing concentration of biosurfactant and it's stability was maintained for a long time. The surface tension of biosurfactant was varied with pH, especially it was showed that the surface tension was high at acidic pH.
Recently many automotive parts have been made with stainless steels by deep drawing processes, But there are various problems occurred in deep drawing works of stainless steels compared with low carbon steels. For the severe deep drawing of complex cylindrical housing optimum process planning is required to eliminate intermediate annealing improve shape accuracy and maintain surface integrity without drawing defects such as tears wrinkles and scratches or galling. Therefore in this study a sample process planning of the severe of the severe deep drawing process is applied to a complex cylindrical housing needed for a 6 multi-stepped deep drawing of type STS 305 . A series of experiments are performed to investigate optimum process variables such as drawing rate radius and clearance. Through experiments the variations of the thickness strain distribution and hardness distribution in each drawing step are observed. Also the effects of other factors on formability such as drawing oil, blank holding force and die geometry are examined and discussed.
This paper investigated the mechanical and electrochemical properties of Al alloys in a slow strain rate test under various potential conditions. In general, Al and Al alloys do not corrode on formation of a film that has resistance to corrosion in neutral solutions. In seawater, however, $Cl^-$ ions lead to the formation and destruction of a passive film. In a potentiostatic experiment, the current density after 1200 sec in the potential range of $-0.68{\sim}-1.5 V$ was low. Comparison of the maximum tensile strength, elongation, and time to fracture indicated that the optimum protection potential range was from -1.5 to -0.7 V(SSCE).
The effects of environmental factors on degradation of Aroclor 1242 were investigated with four Gram-negative bacterial isolates. Their biodegradabilities of the Aroclor were well correlated to their growth rates on the Aroclor added as a sole carbon and energy source. The optimum concentration of the Aroclor for biodegradation of the substrate in MM2 medium was 0.5mg/ml in HK-100, HK-123, and MS-1003 strains, but 1 mg/ml in DJ-26 strain. The optimum temperature and pH were $30^{\circ}C$ and 7.0, respectively, for all the strains. On the basis of the results which the strain of DJ-26 showed the highest degradability of the Aroclor as well as the highest growth rate under the optimum environmental conditions, the bacterial isolate identified as Pseudomonas sp. was found to be a strain usable for treatment of the toxic and recalcitrant chemical pollutants, such as polychlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons.
