  • Using stannous chloride, optimum conditions for $^{99m}Tc$ labelling of some scanning agents such as phytic acid (P A), dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), and calcium diethylenetriaminepentaacetate (Ca-DPTA) were established. Methods of separation and identification of the labelled compounds were practiced by a paper- or thin layer- chromatography. Biodynamic studies of the compounds were also carried out. The results indicate that the molar ratios of the chelating agent and stannous chloride varies only with the concentrations of the chelating agents, and thus the amounts of the stannous chloride per labelling tube were nearly constant $(500\sim600{\mu}g)$ regardless the variation of the molar ratios. It suggests that the given experimental conditions require about $500{\mu}g$ of stannous chloride regardless of the chelating agents. Under alkaline pH, the labelling yields were drastically decreased due to the probable formation of colloidal tin compounds. Biodynamic data showed characteristic patterns with each compound indicating that they are all suitable for the relevant scanning applications.

  • This study aimed to find the optimum instrumental test conditions for the Texture Profile Analysis (TPA) of cooked rice in order to predict the sensory texture attributes (hardness, adhesiveness, chewiness). Sensory evaluation was performed for three kinds of instant cooked rice with university students in their twenties and the results of the sensory evaluation were compared to instrumental TPA patterns. Using partial least squares regression, the instrumental TPA results at a cross-head speed of 1.0 mm/sec and a compression ratio of 70% proved to be an excellent predictor of the sensory attributes of hardness ($R^2=0.99$) and chewiness ($R^2=0.99$). The results at a cross-head speed of 0.5 mm/sec and compression ratio of 30% provided an excellent model for the prediction of sensory adhesiveness ($R^2=0.83$). In this experimental range, sensory hardness and chewiness showed a high correlation with instrumental TPA parameters (hardness, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, springiness, chewiness) with a high cross-head speed and compression ratio, while sensory adhesiveness showed a high correlation with the TPA parameters with a low cross-head speed and compression ratio.

  • The Measurement of concentration patterns for $C_2$, CH and OH radicals in the premixed propane-air flame could be managed through an image processing technique. This technique was applied to the three kinds of flames on a bunsen burner-mixtures of fuel to be lean, optimum and excessive respectively. The image processing system was complished by treating single wavelength flame images around the eac radical luminescence band, which was obtained by using a set of narrow band pass filters, an image intensifier, CCD and PC. It was possible to observe and predict the reaction zone and the concentration distribution of the radicals, Spatial distribution of each radicals in the raaction zone gave us enough informations to analyze the reaction mechanisms in $C_mH_n$ combustion process. According to this informations, the image of $C_2$ radical exists at front zone, following the images of CH and OH radicals at downstream.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this case study is to assess the current airflow and find the ideal ventilation conditions in tank reactors for minimizing the possibility of exposure respiratory dusts(size of $2.5{\mu}m$, $10{\mu}m$) when workers exchange catalysts in the tank reactors. Methods: A Numerical study was performed to determine ideal ventilation conditions, We considered two sizes of airborne respiratory particles($2.5{\mu}m$, $10{\mu}m$) at 12points from the bottom of tank reactor. We changed input & output ventilation conditions and analyzed the particle motion in the tank reactor. The star-ccm+, computational fluid dynamics tool was used to predict air & particle flow patterns in the tank reactor and a numerical simulation was achieved by applying the realized ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model and the Lagrangian particle tracking method. Results: From the results, the increase of recirculation air had a significant impact on removing dusts because they are removed by HEPA filter. To the contrary, Increasing the clean air quantity or changing the input position of clean air is not good for workers because it causes the exit of respiratory dusts through workers' entrance or cause it to remail suspended in the air in the workplace tank.

  • Sm-16.7wt%Co alloy powders were prepared by high energy ball milling under the conditions of various milling time and the content of process control agent (PCA), and their microstructure and magnetic properties were investigated to establish optimum processing conditions. The initial powders employed showed irregular shape and had a size ranging from 5 to $110\;{\mu}m$. After milling for 5 h, the shape of powders changed to round shape and their mean powder size was approximately $5\;{\mu}m$, which consisted of the agglomerated nano-sized particles with 15 nm in diameter. The coercivity was reduced with increasing the milling time, whereas the saturation magnetization increased. As the content of PCA increased, the powder size minutely decreased to approximately $7\;{\mu}m$ at the PCA content of 10 wt%. The XRD patterns showed that the main diffraction peaks disappeared apparently after milling, indicating the formation of amorphous structure. The measured values of coercivity were almost unchanged with increasing the content of PCA.

  • A chitinase gene (pCHi58) encoding a 58 kDa chitinase was isolated from the Serratia marcescens KCTC 2172 cosmid library. The chitinase gene consisted of a 1686 bp open reading frame that encoded 562 amino acids. Escherichia coil harboring the pChi58 gene secreted a 58 kDa chitinase into the culture supernatant. The 58 kDa chitinase was purified using a chitin affinity column and mono-S column. A nucleotide and N-terminal amino acid sequence analysis showed that the 58 kDa chitinase had a leader peptide consisting of 23 amino acids which was cleaved prior to the 24th alanine. The 58 KDa chitinase exhibited a $98\%$ similarity to that of S. marcescens OMB 1466 in its nuclotide sequence. The chitinolytic patterns of the 58 kDa chitinase released N,N'-diacetyl chitobiose (NAG2) as the major hydrolysis end-product with a trace amount of N-acetylglucosamine. When a 4-methylumbellyferyl-N-acetylglucosamin monomer, dimmer, and tetramer were used as substrates, the 58 kDa chitinase did not digest the 4-Mu-NAG monomer $(analogue\;of\;NAG_2)$, thereby indicating that the 58 kDa chitinase was likely an endochitinase. The optimum reaction temperature and pH of the enzyme were $50^{\circ}C$ and 5.0, respectively.

  • In this paper, the nonlinear static and free vibration analysis of Euler-Bernoulli composite beam model reinforced by functionally graded single-walled carbon nanotubes (FG-SWCNTs) with initial geometrical imperfection under uniformly distributed load using finite element method (FEM) is investigated. The governing equations of equilibrium are derived by the Hamilton's principle and von Karman type nonlinear strain-displacement relationships are employed. Also the influences of various loadings, amplitude of the waviness, UD, USFG, and SFG distributions of carbon nanotube (CNT) and different boundary conditions on the dimensionless transverse displacements and nonlinear frequency ratio are presented. It is seen that with increasing load, the displacement of USFG beam under force loads is more than for the other states. Moreover it can be seen that the nonlinear to linear natural frequency ratio decreases with increasing aspect ratio (h/L) for UD, USFG and SFG beam. Also, it is shown that at the specified value of (h/L), the natural frequency ratio increases with the increasing the values amplitude of waviness while the dimensionless nonlinear to linear maximum deflection decreases. Moreover, with considering the amplitude of waviness, the stiffness of Euler-Bernoulli beam model reinforced by FG-CNT increases. It is concluded that the R parameter increases with increasing of volume fraction while the rate of this parameter decreases. Thus one can be obtained the optimum value of FG-CNT volume fraction to prevent from resonance phenomenon.

  • The effect of organic additives, 1-(3-sulfoproyl)-2-vinylpyridineium hydroxide (SVH) and thiourea (TU), on the precision copper electrodeposition was investigated with optical, electrochemical and x-ray diffraction techniques. It was found that SVH played a r ole as a n accelerator and TU as an i nhibitor during the electroreduction of cupric ions in acidic Cu electroplating solution. Through electrochemical measurements, TU showed more strong interaction with cupric ions than SVH and dominated overall Cu electroplating process when both additives were present in the solution. In the case of three dimensional Cu electrodeposition on the 20 ${\mu}m$-patterned Ni substrates, SVH controlled the upright growth of Cu electrodeposits and so determined its flatness, while TU prohibited the lateral spreading of Cu in the course of pulse-reverse pulse current adaptation. With microscopic observation, we obtained the optimum organic additives composition, that is, 100 ppm SVH and 200 ppm TU during the current pulsation.

  • The LGP with nanometer structures resulted in enhancement of optical efficiency. Its fundamental mechanism is to recycle the polarized light via one round-trip through QWP(Quarter-wave Plate) but the maximum efficiency to reach with this method is limited up to 2. To get the larger efficiency than this a LGP with 1D PC(one-dimensional photonic crystal) nanometer-patterned on its top and bottom surfaces is suggested. For its optimum design the computer simulation is performed and suggests a grating that the spatial frequency between adjacent patterns is 500nm, its height 250nm, duty cycle 50%, and its cross section is rectangular. The angles of transmitted light are nearly the same as the results expected from the generalized Snell's law. Thus the Mathematica code, developed in this experiment, will be applied to designing the optimized LGP. The LGP with nanometer-patterened 1D PC LGP on its both surfaces shows the enhancement of transmitted intensity distribution up to 5.7 times.

  • This paper proposes a hydrophone array design optimization technique for cavitation tunnel noise measurements. The optimization technique comprises of design parameters, an objective function and an optimization algorithm. The design parameters are defined for circular, spiral and multi-spiral arrays. The objective function is defined so as to consider the mainlobe beamwidth and the maximum sidelobe level simultaneously. A global optimization scheme is applied to the array design using very fast simulated reannealing (VFSR). After applying the optimization technique to arrays respectively, the peak sidelobe level and the mainlobe beamwidth of optimum arrays are analyzed. Finally the array patterns considering multiple reflections in the cavitation tunnel are evaluated to validate the proposed method.
