자기 환원성 TiO2 단광의 반응특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Reaction Behavior of Self-reducing TiO2 Briquette)

  • The reduction behavior of $TiO_{2}$ in Al and Al/CaSi containing self-reducing $TiO_{2}$ briquettes(SRTB) was investigated. The maximum yield of Ti was expected with the slag composition of 45-55%CaO in the $CaO-Al_{2}O_{3}$ system. When $CaCO_{3}$ was used as a flux, the oxidation loss of reducing agent by $CO_{2}$ should be compensated, and therefore it leads to excessive requirement of the reducing agent. By using Al and CaSi mixture as a reducing agent of $TiO_{2}$, the reaction products both oxide and metal could be liquefied, and separated effectively with each other. As a result, the yield of Ti increases remarkably. The optimum mixing ratio of CaSi to Al is 78%CaSi-22%Al.

명월초 가루를 첨가한 소고기 패티의 최적화 연구 (The Quality Characteristics of Beef Patty with the Addition of Gynura procumbens)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal mixing ratio of Gynura procumbens and milk in the preparation of beef patties. The experiment was designed according to the central composite design for estimating the response surface, demonstrating 10 experimental points including 2 replicates for Gynura procumbens and milk. The physical, mechanical and sensory properties of the test materials were measured, and a canonical form and perturbation plot were used to show the influence of each ingredient on the final product mixture. Results of the measurements showed significant increases or decreases in the following properties: dough moisture (p<0.05); beef patty a (p<0.001) and b (p<0.001); hardness (p<0.01), adhesiveness (p<0.05), chewiness (p<0.05), and gumminess (p<0.05). In addition, the sensory measurements showed significant improvements in color (p<0.001), flavor (p<0.05), greasy (p<0.05) and overall quality (p<0.05). The optimum formulation calculated from the numerical and graphical analysis was 1.75 g Gynura procumbens and 20.44 g of milk.

삼채가루 첨가 식빵의 제조조건 최적화 및 저장성 연구 (Quality Characteristics and Storage Stability of Bread with Allium hookeri Powder)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal mixing ratio of Allium hookeri powder and butter in the preparation of bread. The experiment was designed according to the central composite design for estimating the response surface, which demonstrated 10 experimental points, including 2 replicates for Allium hookeri powder and butter. Further, the mechanical and sensory properties of test materials were measured. A canonical form and perturbation plot conveyed the influence of each ingredient on the final product mixture. Overall, the measurement results of the mechanical properties showed a significant increase or decrease in dough pH, sweetness, volume, weight, height, specific volume, a & b-value of crumb and, springiness (p<0.05). Moreover, the sensory measurements demonstrated a significant improvement in color, appearance, texture, moistness and, overall quality. As a result, the optimum formulation from the numerical and graphical methods was calculated as 22.65 g of Allium hookeri powder and 47.77 g butter. After optimization, DPPH free radical scavenging activity, total phenolic content, and total plate counts over 10 days were evaluated. In sum, the results revealed the antioxidant and antibiotic actions of bread with Allium hookeri powder.

Influence of freeze-thaw on strength of clayey soil stabilized with lime and perlite

  • Stabilization of clayey soil has been studied from past to present by mixing different additives to the soil to increase its strength and durability. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in stabilization of soils with natural pozzolans. Despite this, very few studies have investigated the impact of pozzolanic additives under freeze-thaw cycling. This paper presents the results of an experimental research study on the durability behavior of clayey soils treated with lime and perlite. For this purpose, soil was stabilized with 6% lime content by weight of dry soil (optimum lime ratio of the the soil), perlite was mixed with it in 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 25% and 30% proportions. Test specimens were compacted in the laboratory and cured for 7, 28 and 84 days, after which they were tested for unconfined compression tests. In addition to this, they were subjected to 12 closed system freeze-thaw cycles after curing for 28 days. The results show that the addition of perlite as a pozzolanic additive to lime stabilized soil improves the strength and durability. Unconfined compressive strength increases with increased perlite content. The findings indicate that using natural pozzolan which is cheaper than lime, has positive effect in strength and durability of soils and can result cost reduction of stabilization.

  • Despite its excellent properties, polyurea coating waterproofing material is exposed to sunlight when it is applied to the exterior wall of concrete by exposed waterproofing method such as a roof of a building, resulting in a problem of causing a large deterioration in performance compared to initial properties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of carbon fiber incorporation on the performance of carbon fiber - reinforced polyureas and to study the optimum carbon fiber length and content respectively. Result of the study confirmed that the performance of the carbon fiber was improved by 2% or more, and the carbon fiber length was 30 ㎛ and the mixing ratio was 3%. It is expected that stable durability can be secured when manufacturing fiber-incorporated polyureas.

저배합 흙시멘트의 역학적 특성에 관한 시험적 연구 (Study on the Mechanical Properties of Low Mix Soil-Cement)

  • In order to expand agricultural lands in the western and southern coasts of Korean Peninsula, coarse soils excavated from hillsides have been used as fill materials for reclamation. In order to tackle with the problems and to confirm availability, research on soil improvement involve mixing cement to the fine wet soils. Required undrained shear strength$(C_u)$ for fill material was analysed to be 0.34~1.2 $kgf/cm^2$. It has been known that when cement is added to high water content marine clay its unconfined compression strength increased to 2 $kgf/cm^2$. Consolidation results show that pre-consolidation pressure increased to 1.8 $kgf/cm^2$and 3.4 $kgf/cm^2$ with the addition of 3% and 5% of cement respectively. This result shows that low-height embankments could be constructed without significant compression. Since the effectiveness of improvement may be different site by site, the mix design for each site is necessary in order to optimize it. The process is first to determine aimed shear strength and then optimum mix ratio of cement after carrying out a series of tests.

An Environment-Friendly Surface Pretreatment of ABS Plastic for Electroless Plating Using Chemical Foaming Agents

  • We have developed an environment-friendly etching process, an alternative to the dichromic acid etching process, as a pretreatment of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic for electroless plating. In order to plate ABS plastic in an electroless way, there should be fine holes on the surface of the ABS plastic to enhance mechanically the adhesion strength between the plastic surface and the plate. To make these holes, the surface was coated uniformly with dispersed chemical foaming agents in a mixture of environmentally friendly dispersant and solvent by the methods of dipping or direct application. The solvent seeps into just below the surface and distributes the chemical foaming agents uniformly beneath the surface. After drying off the surface, the surface was heated at a temperature well below the glass transition temperature of ABS plastic. By pyrolysis, the chemical foaming agents made fine holes on the surface. In order to discover optimum conditions for the formation of fine holes, the mixing ratio of the solvent, the dispersant and the chemical foaming agent were controlled. After the etching process, the surface was plated with nickel. We tested the adhesion strength between the ABS plastic and nickel plate by the cross-cutting method. The surface morphologies of the ABS plastic before and after the etching process were observed by means of a scanning electron microscope.

  • Air table을 이용해서, 입상플라스틱 혼합물로부터 PVC를 제거 분리하는 연구를 행하였다. Air table상에서 플라스틱이 어떠한 운동을 하는가 연구하고, PVC 10%와 PE 90%의 인공흔합물을 가지고 선별 분리시험을 행하였다. 이 연구로부터 선별 최적조건은, 9.2 Hz의 Frequency, 1.05 m/sec의 바람속도, 7.5 End-slope, 1 side-slope, 450 g/min의 Feeding speed 등이었다 PE-PVC 흔합물에서 99.96%의 PE를 98.9% 얻을 수 있었고, 88.7%의 PVC를 99.6% 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 고추의 효율적인 이용의 방안으로서 고추 oleoresin추출조건의 구명(究明)과 저장중인 품질변화에 대해서 실험하였다. 고추 oleoresin의 최적 추출용 매로는 사용한 8가지 용매중에서 acetone이 가장 좋았으며, 분쇄한 건조고추의 입자크기는 100 mesh, 시료중량에 대한 용매의 혼합비율은 1 : 3(w/w) 및 추출온도는 $25^{\circ}C$에서 가장 효과적으로 추출되었다. 추출수율을 기준으로 적정 추출시간은 5시간이였으며, 이상의 최적 추출조건에서의 oleoresin 수율은 18.7%였다.

  • The 2-O-$\alpha$-D-glucopyranosyl L-ascorbic acid (AA-2G) which was enzymatically glucosylated with the cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) [EC 2.4.1.19] from Bacillus sp. JK-43 has been reported previously. The presnet experiments examined the optimal conditons for the productio of AA-2G from AA and soluble starch, and characterized the properties of the CGTase from Bacillus sp. JK-43. The reaction mixture for the maximal production of AA-2G was followings; 12% total substrate concentration, 1,400 usits/mL of CGTase and a mixing ratio of 2 : 3(g or AA : g of soluble starch). Under this condition, 1.76mM of AA-2G, which corresponded to 2.53% yield based on AA, was produced after incubation for 24hrs at 45$^{\circ}C$ (pH 5.5). The optimum pH and temperature for the CGTase activity were 6.0 and 45$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The enzyme was stable at pH 5.5 to 9.5, and at temperature up to 5$0^{\circ}C$. The thermostability of the enzyme could be enhanced up to 6$0^{\circ}C$ by the addition of 30mM CaCl2.
