냉동사이클의 최적 설계조건 (Oplimum Design Conditions for a Basic Refrigeration Cycle)

  • An optimum design condition for a basic refrigeration cycle is defined as the condition which minimizes the total cost of heat exchanges (condenser and evaporator) and compressor for the refrigeration effect. Thermodynamic properties of ammonia (R717) are approximated by rational functions in order to obtain the optimum condition for a basic refrigeration cycle. Optimum condition depends on the heat capacity rates (mass flow rate times specific heat) of cooling water and brine used in condenser and evaporator. The difference between the cooling water temperature and condensation temperature at the optimum condition increases as the heat capacity rates and the coat of heat exchangers relative to the cost of compressor increase. Numerical examples of optimum conditions are obtained when the condensation temperature is $30^{\circ}C$ and the evaporator temperature is $-10^{\circ}C$.

Simplified method to design laterally loaded piles with optimum shape and length

  • Optimum shape and length of laterally loaded piles can be obtained with different optimization techniques. In particular, the Fully Stress Design method (FSD) is an optimality condition that allows to obtain the optimum shape of the pile, while the optimum length can be obtained through a transversality condition at the pile lower end. Using this technique, the structure is analysed by finite elements and shaped through the FSD method by contemporarily checking that the transversality condition is satisfied. In this paper it is noted that laterally loaded piles with optimum shape and length have some peculiar characteristics, depending on the type of cross-section, that allow to design them with simple calculations without using finite element analysis. Some examples illustrating the proposed simplified design method of laterally loaded piles with optimum shape and length are introduced.

  • The Collins cryocooler is numerically analysed with the optimization technique, and the optimum operating and design conditions are searched. This paper shows that liquefied helium quantity has an external maximum w.r.t. the total mass flow rate, the mass flow rates through expander and the capacities of heat exchangers. The liquefied helium quantity increases as the compressor exit pressure of the cryocooler does. The maximum quantity of liquefied helium and the maximum coefficient of performance have been found to exist in extremum, depending on the ratios of each heat exchanger capicities to the total one. At the optimum condition, the capacity of heat exchanger in high temperature region is larger than that in low temperature region.

  • Producing printing plate is essential progress to do offset printing. In this Film-less period, the more PS plate becomes extinct, the more the age of the Plate-Making of Exposure declines the place to stand. To do offset printing, the CTP (Computer to Plate) is taking a place of PS plate that covers speed, quality and economical problems. The biggest advantage of using CTP is that laser directly goes to the plate, thus there are no dust from the Plate-Making of Exposure. It is also theoretically able to print 200lpi${\sim}$300lpi as well as print 1751pi, because it has over 2400dpi resolution. The high quality printing could be available inside of the country, if printing machine keeps the optimum condition in offset printing. The CTP has many advantages, however there is a difficulty for the operators to preserve the equipment. The actual circumstance is that they cannot make a decision about how many dots need to be generated, and also it is necessary to know how to establish the setup at RIP on CTP to make the optimum condition output. If offset printing machine keeps the optimum condition, it would be able to print up to high quality printing however it is hard to comment what is the optimum condition for the printing machine. Anyone could say easy subjectively that machine is in the optimum condition, however it is objectively hard to estimate by number. In this research GATF / Plate Test target used to analyze the image and to make numerical value of the optimum condition of the CTP. It also used GATF / The sheep fed test printing 5.0 to know the density of the color representation, dot gain and gray balance for the optimum condition of the print machine. The purpose of this research is to represent the ISO 12647-2 which is the international standard with domestic printing equipments.

  • In this study, rotary type diamond dressing system for ultra-precision centerless grinding for ferrule was developed at the first time and experiments were conducted with AE sensor and hall sensor system to verify the optimum dressing condition for ultra-precision centerless grinding for ferrule. The correlations with the condition of dressing are evaluated by AE signal analysis with root mean square (RMS) and frequency analysis. And current signals from hall sensor are also studied as a factor of dressing optimum condition selection. Dressing process was conducted to investigate the effects of depth of cut, rotating speed, and the number of overlap to select the optimum condition of rotary dressing system of ultra-precision centerless grinding machine for ferrule fabrication. In order to verify the optimum condition of dressing, AE and current signals were compared with the surface quality of dressing wheel and grinding wheel for ultra-precision ferrule grinding. All of these experiments were completed by Taguchi Methodology to reduce experimental time. Hence, the optimum condition of rotary dressing system for ultra-precision centerless grinding for ferrule fabrication can be selected following to the experiment result from signals of AE and hall sensor.

Novel Brazing법에 의한 Al의 공정접합에 관한 연구 (A Study of Eutectic Bonding for Aluminium using Novel Brazing Process)

  • To investigate the optimum brazing condition, variation of bonded structure and mechanical properties of novel brazed pure Al with bonding condition (brazing temperature, time and Si/flux ratio) was studied. A basic study of the bonding mechanism was also examined. The optimum brazing condition was obtained at $590^{\circ}$ for 2 minutes and the bonded structure showed that it is composed of almost entirely eutectic Al-Si with near eutectic composition. At higher brazing temperature $630^{\circ}$, hypoeutectic Al-Si structure was observed in the bonded area and resulted in erosion of base metal. The thickness of eutectic layer formed in optimum brazing temperature increased linearly with the square root of time, showing a general diffusion controlled process. The ultimate tensile strength of bonded joint brazed at an optimum brazing condition was about 60% of base metal and its fracture surface showed a brittle mode.

기계식 프레스 Frame의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A study on Optimum Design of the Frame for Mechanical Press)

  • This paper aims at calculating optimum design dimensions to minimize the weight satisfied strain and stress intensity of the frame while loading maximum weight into a mechanical press in the static condition. Analysis of the frame was carried out by using the FEM, then the optimum condition was obtained by using these data. As modeling in the finite element analysis has great impact on the reliablity of analysis results, the analyzed object was selected a 150-ton mechanical press of J Company, the part little affected to structural rigidity was simplified, the load condition was considered in the only maximum load, the boundary condition was used by giving symmetric displacement due to symmetric boundary condition, the finite element was applied a linear membrane element. An intermediate processor program applied the normal ANSYS to analyze finite elements was developed, and the design sensitivity was calculated. This program was applied to the optimum design.

다구찌 방법에 의한 PAC 실내기 유로의 최적설계 (Optimum Design of an Indoor Package Air-Conditioner's Flow Path by Taguchi Method)

  • In this study, the optimum design process of an indoor package air-conditioner (PAC) was implemented by Taguchi method. The goal of this study is to obtain the best set condition of each control factor composing of an indoor PAC. The number of revolution of a double inlet sirocco fan installed in an indoor PAC was measured by the orthogonal array of $L_{18}(2^3{\times}3^4)$ and analysed by using the-smaller- the-better characteristic among the static characteristic analyses. As a result, the optimum condition of an indoor PAC was found as a set of when the cost of production, assembling and working conditions were considered. Moreover, the number of revolution of a double-inlet sirocco fan used for an optimum condition was reduced about 8.5% more than that of a standard condition for the target flowrate of $18.5m^3/min$.

정수장 응집공정의 최적운전조건 결정 사례 (Experiences of Optimization of Flocculation Basins in Water Treatment Plants)

  • The operation of flocculation process and the evaluation thereof have been mainly based on G, t and $G{\times}t$ values which are available from design guidelines and texts. However, their suggested ranges are too wide to find the optimum condition specific to a particular water treatment plant and none of the existing method can be used to evaluate and suggest the optimum operational condition. Recently, a commercially available particle counter is found to be useful in determining the flocculation process based on the particle dynamics. The optimum condition is defined as one that best suits the purpose of flocculation; the number of small particles should decrease, while that of large particles should increase. The experiments were performed at two conventional water treatment plants in Korea, one with horizontal mechanical flocculators, and another with vertical type mechanical flocculators. In this paper, experiences to evaluate the flocculation process and to suggest the optimum operation condition will be presented. Although particle counting method is found to be beneficial compared to any other existing methods, the optimum condition is very much site-specific and should be evaluated at each water treatment plant for different conditions.
