Location Service is required in position-based routing for VANET to provide position information. We propose Grid-based Location service spot(GLSS) scheme for optimized routing path to improve accessibility and load balance in location service. Specific area is defined as Location service spot(LSS) on each grid in this scheme, and all nodes in the grid geocast its location update message and location request message to each LSS. Location request messages are flooded throughout LSSs, location reply messages establish optimized route from the source grid to the destination grid. We evaluated GLSS which establishes optimized route on the grid comparing GPSR in consideration of road condition and geographical features.

The objective of this article is finding optimized locations of active mounts applied to 6-DOF beam structure with two active paths. When sinusoidal excitation forces are applied to the beam structure, secondary forces from two active mounts which can minimize (ideally becoming zero) transmitted forces are calculated mathematically and the vibration attenuation performance is validated through computer simulations. When the force applied to two active mounts are relatively low, those specific locations are considered as optimized location of active mounting system. As the location of mount changes, amplitude and phase of secondary forces in each path are analyzed with 3D plots. Based on the simulation results, a criterion for selecting mounting location is suggested and it would be very useful for selecting actuators for active mounts appropriately.
This study deals with the optimized detector location considering the traffic characteristics in National Highway. Although there ave many construction works for ITS in National Highway, there is not specific criteria for detector location which can effect the accuracy of traffic information. This study. therefore. aims to Provide the optimized detector location criteria which can represent the traffic characteristics of National Highway. It collects traffic factors of study area by GPS Probe-car and defector, and Presents the optimized detector location by the correlation analysis between spot-speed and link-travel-time. The main results of this study are as followings ; First, the correlation between the spot-speed and link-travel-time Presents the opposite bell shape of the graph (U-type owe) which is increased it?on the upstream then, declined through some unspecified Point of the link. Second, the optimized detector location usually distributes around midstream of link, even though it does not have a consistency. Third, therefore, the optimized detector location generally should be located between $55{\sim}60%$ of total link length. Forth. high level of vertical slope is one of the most important factors of detector location, so it should be excluded for determination of optimized detector location. Finally, expecting that the results of this study would improve the accuracy of travel time estimation and forecasting.

Even though demand to charge EV(electric vehicles) is increasing, there are some problems to construct EV charging stations and problems from deficient them. Typical problem of EV charging stations is discordance for EV charging station location with its demand. This study investigates methods to determine the optimized location for fast EV charging stations considering charging demand in Seoul. Firstly, variables influencing on determination of determine the optimized location for fast EV charging stations were decided, and then evaluation of weights of the variables and data collection were conducted. Using the weights, location potential scores for each area-cell were calculated and optimized locations for fast EV charging stations were resulted.
Among location-based systems, a route search service is very highly utilized as a representative technique, but it provides relatively low accuracy when we find a route path on foot in our real environment. In this paper, we design and implement an optimized route search technique based on user experience utilizing open APIs as location-based services. Finally, we develop an Android-based application to provide this feature. In our experiment, we found that our technique enhanced performance by about 14-36% compared to previous solutions, such as route path searches using map APIs. In addition, the performance of our technique can be further enhanced, as the number of users who find such optimized route path is increasing.
Cracks in plate-like structures are some of the main reasons for destruction of the entire structure. In this study, a novel two-stage methodology is proposed for damage detection of flexural plates using an optimized artificial neural network. In the first stage, location of damages in plates is investigated using curvature-moment and curvature-moment derivative concepts. After detecting the damaged areas, the equations for damage severity detection are solved via Bat Algorithm (BA). In the second stage, in order to efficiently reduce the computational cost of model updating during the optimization process of damage severity detection, multiple damage location assurance criterion index based on the frequency change vector of structures are evaluated using properly trained cascade feed-forward neural network (CFNN) as a surrogate model. In order to achieve the most generalized neural network as a surrogate model, its structure is optimized using binary version of BA. To validate this proposed solution method, two examples are presented. The results indicate that after determining the damage location based on curvature-moment derivative concept, the proposed solution method for damage severity detection leads to significant reduction of computational time compared with direct finite element method. Furthermore, integrating BA with the efficient approximation mechanism of finite element model, maintains the acceptable accuracy of damage severity detection.

Storage tank filled with fluid has unique dynamic characteristics compared to general structures, due to the interaction between fluid and structure. The oscillation of the fluid surface caused by external forces is called sloshing, which occurs in moving vehicles with contained liquid masses, such as trucks, railroad cars, aircrafts, and liquid missles. In this study, the evaluation method for the reduction of sloshing, the optimized size and location of wing and diaphragm baffles are suggested based on the experimental results. The experimental device can simulate the translation motion. A rectangular tank and various baffles are fabricated to study on the sloshing characteristics. The forces measured using the load cell at tank wall and those are compared with each other through the Fourier transformation for various conditions. The study of the sloshing of the rectangular tank equipped with baffles is conducted under the same conditions with non-baffled rectangular tank experiment. From the experimental results, the sloshing reduction effect by the baffles is observed. In conclusion in case of diaphragm baffles, the optimized size ratio of the width of baffle to the water height is 0.44 and the installation location has no effect to the damping of sloshing. In case of wing baffles, the optimized size ratio of the width of baffle to the length of a rectangular tank is 0.1 and the optimized location ratio of the baffle to the water height is 0.9.

This paper presents the design optimization of fuel sensor location used to measure remained fuel amount in aircraft conformal fuel tank. The conformal fuel tank is utilized to expand the mission range in airplane, and the sensor location is a critical design variable determining the measurement accuracy. In this work, the sensor location is optimized to minimize unmeasurable fuel amount due to non-contact between fuel and sensor. The simplified model is prepared from the conformal fuel tank CATIA model, and the unmeasurable fuel amount is calculated. Then, the optimization is performed using MATLAB optimization solver. The optimized sensor location is validated by comparing with the location obtained using parametric study.

In this paper, we proposed the location tracking system based on MS-Based/Assisted(Mobile Station-Based and Assisted) location trigger service model with context-awareness for the intelligent location tracking of moving objects. It provides the proper resulting value that matches the context of users through the analysis about the situation of the user, physical environment, computing resource and the existing information on user input. In order to provide real-time data, we proposed the location tracking system which realizes the intelligent information such as the expecting arrival time and passing the specific area of the moving object by adopting the location trigger. So, it derives to minimize the costs of communication for the mobile object tracking applications. The proposed location tracking system based on context-awareness can be used for realtime monitoring, intelligent alarm/action, setting up of the optimized moving path, dynamic adjustment of strategies and policies. So it has the advantage to develop the application system which is aimed at optimization of the object tracking and movement.

Location selection of distribution centers is a crucial task for logistics operators and key decision makers of an organization. This is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) process which includes both quantitative and qualitative criteria. In order to propose an optimized location selection model, this research suggests a hierarchical group of evaluation criteria : 5 major criteria with 15 sub-criteria. The MCDM approach presented in this research, by integrating Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), tends to rectify the overall quality and uncertainty of the values of evaluation criteria. An example of a location selection case in Korea is illustrated in this study to show the effectiveness of this method.
