  • In this study, dynamic optimal design far a two degree-of-freedom anthropomorphic robot module is performed. Several dynamic design indices associated with the inertia matrix and the inertia power array are introduced. Analysis for the relationship between the dynamic parameters and the design indices shows that trade-offs exist between the isotropy and the dynamic design indices related to the actuator size. A composite design index is employed to deal with multi-criteria based design with different weighting factors, in a systematic manner. We demonstrate the fact that dynamic optimization is another significant step to enhance the system performances, followed by kinematic optimization.

  • If one can easily modify the existing motion data to a new motion in making an animation movie, he can save a lot of time for graphic design. To implement this kind of system, we propose a PC-based system composed of low cost commercial animation tool (3D Studio Max) for visualization of the animation and motion editing module that handles optimization process during the motion transform. Researchers studying advanced motion transform techniques only have to focus on the mathematical manipulation of the motion data

  • During last two decades the transportation system has developed into very intelligent system with GIS, GPS and ITS. The practical transportation management system provides real time response module to manage the customer's order. We have surveyed research papers on the real time vehicle routing problem in last two decades to figure out the dynamic vehicle routing problem. The papers are classified by basic routing algorithms and by managing the dynamic events which are the order management, the routing re-optimization, the routing post-optimization and the waiting strategy.

다중최적화기법을 이용한 강우-유사-유출 예측 불확실성 평가 (Assessment of Rainfall-Sediment Yield-Runoff Prediction Uncertainty Using a Multi-objective Optimization Method)

  • 모형의 구조, 모델링에 사용되는 자료, 매개변수 등에 포함된 다양한 불확실성 원인들은 수문모의 및 예측결과에 있어 불확실성을 야기한다. 본 연구에서는 강우-유출 및 강우-유사유출 모의가 가능한 분포형 강우-유사-유출 모형을 용담댐 상류유역인 천천유역에 적용하여 수문곡선 및 유사량곡선의 재현성을 평가하고, 다중최적화기법인 MOSCEM을 이용하여 강우-유출 모듈, 강우-유사유출 모듈의 매개변수를 독립적으로 보정한 경우(Case I과 II), 그리고 두 모듈이 결합된 강우-유사-유출 모형의 매개변수를 동시에 보정한 경우(Case III)에 대하여 Pareto 최적해를 추정하고, 이에 따른 수문 예측결과의 불확실성을 평가한다. 매개변수 불확실성의 전이에 따른 수문곡선의 불확실성 평가 결과(Case I), 모의기간 동안 고유량보다는 저유량 부분에서 불확실성 범위가 두드러졌으며, 이에 반해, 유사량곡선의 경우(Case II) 저농도보다는 고농도 부분에서 불확실성 범위가 넓게 분포하였다. 강우-유사-유출 모형의 매개변수의 불확실성을 동시에 추정한 경우 수문곡선 및 유사량곡선 모두 Case I과 II에 비해 모의기간 전반에 걸쳐 불확실성 범위가 넓게 분포되었으며, 매개 변수의 불확실성으로 인해 대상유역내 격자별 침식 및 퇴적 공간분포 양상이 상이하게 나타났다.

배터리 모듈의 경량화 및 품질 향상을 위한 선택적 복합재료 패치에 관한 연구 (A Study on Selective Composite Patch for Light Weight and Quality Improvement of Battery Module)

  • 본 연구에서는 전기 자동차의 주요 부품 중 하나인, Battery Module의 품질 Issue 및 부품특성 개선을 위해 복합재료를 사용하여 구조보강 하였으며, 단일소재의 단점을 극복할 수 있는 Hybrid 개념의 기구 구조 최적화를 수행하고 성능을 비교하였다. 이를 위해 고전 적층 판 이론(Classical Laminated Plate Theory, CLPT)에 따른 복합재료 주요 설계 변수 도출 및 복합재료 물성 예측 알고리즘에 대해 연구하였으며, 설계된 복합재료의 기계적 물성을 바탕으로 유한요소해석(FEM)을 통해 Battery Module의 성능을 검증하였다. 이를 통해 자동차 Battery 부품의 안정성 및 경량화 등의 부품 특성 개선 여부를 확인할 수 있었다. 최종적으로 검증결과에 따르면 Selective Composite Patch로 보강된 Hybrid Battery Module은 기존 Al Battery Module에 비해 30%의 중량 감소 및 제품 두께 32.5%를 줄일 수 있고, 충격 성능 유지 등 Hybrid 구조의 장점을 입증하였다.

  • Using basic shape and aerodynamic data for the designed impeller, basic structure analysis such as stress analysis and eigenvalue analysis was carried out. Also, we made the optimization program that was designed for optimum thickness within the adaptive stress limits. For the structural optimum theory, we used the BFGS(Broydon Fletcher Goldfarb Shanno) Method which is one of the searching methods. Through this program we managed optimization of the blade. For numerical simulation, we used the optimization program to compose Cyclic Module of NASTRAN and the Optimization Program which was implemented by C and fortran language.

A New Unified Design Environment for Optimization of Electric Machines Based on Continuum Sensitivity and B-Spline Parametrization

  • In this paper, a unified design environment is developed for the optimization of electric machines based on continuum sensitivity. For electromagnetic (EM) system analysis, COMSOL scripting environment is used. Optimization module is developed by MATLAB programming, which can be combined with COMSOL script commands. The modules are combined into one MATLAB project, and iteration process necessary for the optimization of EM system can be performed efficiently. During the design process, visual feedback of the current design status is given to the designer. In addition, the B-Spline parametrization of the nodal points is implemented to obtain smooth boundary of the device. The developed software is applied to the problem of finding uniform flux density distribution at the air gap of an electromagnet to verify its feasibility and effectiveness.

  • The integration method of binary and real encoding in genetic algorithm is proposed to deal with design variables of various types in gear drive design. The method is applied to optimum design of multi-stage gear drive. Integer and Discrete type design variables represent the number of teeth and module, and continuous type design variables represent face width, helix angle and addendum modification factor etc. The proposed genetic algorithm is applied for the gear ratio optimization and the volume optimization(minimization) of multi-stage geared motor which is used in field. In result, the proposed design optimization method shows an effectiveness in optimum design process and the new design has a better results compared with the existing design.

  • A lens system of a camera module for mobile phones is comprised of the composition and design of various shapes of lens. To improve responses such as the modular transfer function (MTF), a lens system should always be constructed by considering uncertainty that can be caused by manufacturing and assembly error. In this study, tolerance optimization using the Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) technique is performed. In order to reduce the computational burden of the tolerance optimization process and decrease the influence from numerical noise effectively, we use the Progressive Quadratic Response Surface Modeling (PQRSM), which is one of Sequential Approximate Optimization (SAO) techniques. Using this method, we achieved optimal tolerance for each lens and obtained reliability for satisfying user‘s requirements. In addition, through the design process the manufacturing and assembly cost of a lens system was reduced.

  • A pump design system was constructed by several integrating in-house programs and commercial softwares to design and evaluate centrifugal pumps. An agent-based prototype framework has been developed for collaborative design and optimization of a centrifugal pump. This paper introduces the feasible technology needed to construct a pump design system based on software agents. The integrated design system, developed in the present study, was used in designing a centrifugal pump and modifying its impeller shape by using optimization processes to increase the pump performance.
