Improvement of Stixel Segmentation Using Additive Image Domain Features and Genetic Algorithm-based Optimization (영상 영역 특징 추가 및 유전 알고리즘 기반 최적화를 통한 스틱셀 분할 개선 방법)

  • Recently, a medium-level representation named "Stixel" has been extensively researched in stereo vision-based environmental perception. Obstacle detection using Stixel representation consists of three steps: static Stixel generation, dynamic Stixel generation, and Stixel segmentation. This paper focuses on the Stixel segmentation step and has two contributions. One is that it shows that Stixel segmentation performance can be enhanced by utilizing both image domain and real world domain features. The other is that it suggests that parameters used for Stixel segmentation can be effectively tuned based on genetic algorithm. The proposed method was quantitatively evaluated and the result showed that the proposed method increased Stixel segmentation accuracy compared with the previous method.

  • This paper describes the optimized output performances such as output power and the third order intermodulation in GaN high power transistor packages which consist of chip die, chip capacitors, and wire bonding. The optimized output power according to wire bonding techniques, and third order intermodulation performances according to wire bonding and bias conditions are discussed. In addition, it is shown through the nonlinear simulation that how the output performances are sensitive to the inductance values which are realized by wire bonding for matching network in the limited package area.

  • In this paper, we propose a point cloud matching algorithm for multiple RGB-D cameras. In general, computer vision is concerned with the problem of precisely estimating camera position. Existing 3D model generation methods require a large number of cameras or expensive 3D cameras. In addition, the conventional method of obtaining the camera external parameters through the two-dimensional image has a large estimation error. In this paper, we propose a method to obtain coordinate transformation parameters with an error within a valid range by using depth image and function optimization method to generate omni-directional three-dimensional model using 8 low-cost RGB-D cameras.

Passive shape control of force-induced harmonic lateral vibrations for laminated piezoelastic Bernoulli-Euler beams-theory and practical relevance

  • The present paper is devoted to vibration canceling and shape control of piezoelastic slender beams. Taking into account the presence of electric networks, an extended electromechanically coupled Bernoulli-Euler beam theory for passive piezoelectric composite structures is shortly introduced in the first part of our contribution. The second part of the paper deals with the concept of passive shape control of beams using shaped piezoelectric layers and tuned inductive networks. It is shown that an impedance matching and a shaping condition must be fulfilled in order to perfectly cancel vibrations due to an arbitrary harmonic load for a specific frequency. As a main result of the present paper, the correctness of the theory of passive shape control is demonstrated for a harmonically excited piezoelelastic cantilever by a finite element calculation based on one-dimensional Bernoulli-Euler beam elements, as well as by the commercial finite element code of ANSYS using three-dimensional solid elements. Finally, an outlook for the practical importance of the passive shape control concept is given: It is shown that harmonic vibrations of a beam with properly shaped layers according to the presented passive shape control theory, which are attached to an resistor-inductive circuit (RL-circuit), can be significantly reduced over a large frequency range compared to a beam with uniformly distributed piezoelectric layers.

Fast Channel Allocation for Ultra-dense D2D-enabled Cellular Network with Interference Constraint in Underlaying Mode

  • We investigate the channel allocation problem in an ultra-dense device-to-device (D2D) enabled cellular network in underlaying mode where multiple D2D users are forced to share the same channel. Two kinds of low complexity solutions, which just require partial channel state information (CSI) exchange, are devised to resolve the combinatorial optimization problem with the quality of service (QoS) guaranteeing. We begin by sorting the cellular users equipment (CUEs) links in sequence in a matric of interference tolerance for ensuring the SINR requirement. Moreover, the interference quota of CUEs is regarded as one kind of communication resource. Multiple D2D candidates compete for the interference quota to establish spectrum sharing links. Then base station calculates the occupation of interference quota by D2D users with partial CSI such as the interference channel gain of D2D users and the channel gain of D2D themselves, and carries out the channel allocation by setting different access priorities distribution. In this paper, we proposed two novel fast matching algorithms utilize partial information rather than global CSI exchanging, which reduce the computation complexity. Numerical results reveal that, our proposed algorithms achieve outstanding performance than the contrast algorithms including Hungarian algorithm in terms of throughput, fairness and access rate. Specifically, the performance of our proposed channel allocation algorithm is more superior in ultra-dense D2D scenarios.

  • We look at the initial stage of Meta (previous Facebook)'s new metaverse platform and investigate its platform design in pre-launch and ignition life stage. From the Rocket Model (RM)'s theoretical logic, the results reveal that Meta firstly focuses on investing in key content developers by acquiring virtual reality (VR), video, music content firms and offering production support platform of the augmented reality (AR) content, 'Spark AR' last three years (2019~2021) for attracting high-potential developers and users. In terms of three matching criteria, Meta develops an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered translation software, partners with Microsoft (MS) for cloud computing and AI, and develops an AI platform for realistic avatar, MyoSuite. In 'connect' function, Meta curates the game concept submitted by game developers, welcomes other game and SNS based metaverse apps, and expands Horizon Worlds (HW) on VR devices to PCs and mobile devices. In 'transact' function, Meta offers 'HW Creator Funding' program for metaverse, launches the first commercialized Meta Avatar Store on Meta's conventional SNS and Messaging apps by inviting all fashion creators to design and sell clothing in this store. Mata also launches an initial test of non-fungible token (NFT) display on Instagram and expands it to Facebook in the US. Lastly, regarding optimization, especially in the face of recent data privacy issues that have adversely affected corporate key performance indicators (KPIs), Meta assures not to collect any new data and to make its privacy policy easier to understand and update its terms of service more user friendly.

Hierarchical Resource Management Framework and Multi-hop Task Scheduling Decision for Resource-Constrained VEC Networks

  • In urban vehicular edge computing (VEC) environments, one edge server always serves many task requests in its coverage which results in the resource-constrained problem. To resolve the problem and improve system utilization, we first design a general hierarchical resource management framework based on typical VEC network structures. Following the framework, a specific interacting protocol is also designed for our decision algorithm. Secondly, a greedy bidding-based multi-hop task scheduling decision algorithm is proposed to realize effective task scheduling in resource-constrained VEC environments. In this algorithm, the goal of maximizing system utility is modeled as an optimization problem with the constraints of task deadlines and available computing resources. Then, an auction mechanism named greedy bidding is used to match task requests to edge servers in the case of multiple hops to maximize the system utility. Simulation results show that our proposal can maximize the number of tasks served in resource constrained VEC networks and improve the system utility.

  • Numerous problems in science and engineering defined by nonlinear functional equations can be solved by reducing them to an equivalent fixed point problem. Fixed point theory provides essential tools for solving problems arising in various branches of mathematical analysis, such as split feasibility problems, variational inequality problems, nonlinear optimization problems, equilibrium problems, complementarity problems, selection and matching problems, and problems of proving the existence of solution of integral and differential equations.The theory of fixed is known to find its applications in many fields of science and technology. For instance, the whole world has been profoundly impacted by the novel Coronavirus since 2019 and it is imperative to depict the spread of the coronavirus. Panda et al. [24] applied fractional derivatives to improve the 2019-nCoV/SARS-CoV-2 models, and by means of fixed point theory, existence and uniqueness of solutions of the models were proved. A Vehicle Reidentification Algorithm using Inductive Vehicle Signatures (루프검지기 자기신호 패턴분석을 통한 차량재인식 알고리즘)

  • Travel time is one of the most important traffic parameters to evaluate operational performance of freeways. A variety of methods have been proposed to estimate travel times. One feasible solution to estimating travel times is to utilize existing loop detector-based infrastructure since the loops are the most widely deployed detection system in the world. This study proposed a new approach to estimate travel times for freeways. Inductive vehicle signatures extracted from the loop detectors were used to match vehicles from upstream and downstream stations. Ground-truthing was also conducted to systematically evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm by recognizing individual vehicles captured by video cameras placed at upstream and downstream detection stations. A lexicographic optimization method vehicle reidentification algorithm was developed. Vehicle features representing the characteristics of individual vehicles such as vehicle length and interpolations extracted from the signature were used as inputs of the algorithm. Parameters associated with the signature matching algorithm were calibrated in terms of maximizing correct matching rates. It is expected that the algorithm would be a useful method to estimate freeway link travel times.

Deep Learning Similarity-based 1:1 Matching Method for Real Product Image and Drawing Image

  • This paper presents a method for 1:1 verification by comparing the similarity between the given real product image and the drawing image. The proposed method combines two existing CNN-based deep learning models to construct a Siamese Network. After extracting the feature vector of the image through the FC (Fully Connected) Layer of each network and comparing the similarity, if the real product image and the drawing image (front view, left and right side view, top view, etc) are the same product, the similarity is set to 1 for learning and, if it is a different product, the similarity is set to 0. The test (inference) model is a deep learning model that queries the real product image and the drawing image in pairs to determine whether the pair is the same product or not. In the proposed model, through a comparison of the similarity between the real product image and the drawing image, if the similarity is greater than or equal to a threshold value (Threshold: 0.5), it is determined that the product is the same, and if it is less than or equal to, it is determined that the product is a different product. The proposed model showed an accuracy of about 71.8% for a query to a product (positive: positive) with the same drawing as the real product, and an accuracy of about 83.1% for a query to a different product (positive: negative). In the future, we plan to conduct a study to improve the matching accuracy between the real product image and the drawing image by combining the parameter optimization study with the proposed model and adding processes such as data purification.
