  • Uptake of $^{14}C$-sorbose and $^{14}C$-3-O-methylglucose by ungerminated conidia of Neurospora crassa was measured by means of the millipore filter technique. Initial rates of jptake of both sorbose and 3-O-methylglucose show a marked dependence optimal pH for uptake of both sugars is close to 4.75. When ungerminated conidia are "starved" with buffer for a prolonged period of time prior to assaying their transport capacity and mycelia, no de-repression of the glucose-repressible sugar transport system is effectuated in contrast to the findings for germinated conidia.d conidia.

  • In this paper, the noise contribution to the permit tivity profile reconstructed by the spectral inverse scattering scheme is investigated and a low-pass filter is proposed to reduce such the noise effects. Numerical simulations showed that the reconstructed profiles are affected by extremely large error. The suggested low-pass filter made it possible to reconstruct the permittivity profile nearly similar to the original. Furthermore, the optimal condition to the low-pass filter agreed well with the physical meaning even if several variables involved in the inverse scattering scheme were changed.

  • We developing for Gate-Container Yard model to execute the Input & Output process of containers which are waiting in container yard effectively and fast. The optimal model is developed to manage and trace the containers in yard. We developed the put-away strategies which considered the storage time for volume of transportation and the distance between blocks and gates using the MICRO-CRAFT (Computerized Relative Allocation Facilities Technique).

  • The program which could determine cross-sectional dimensions of the box girder bridge at tile stage of preliminary design was developed using the optimal technique in this study. It could minimize the cost and time required in the design of box girder bridges and the construction with the prestressed precast segmental method. Objective cost function consisted of four independent variables such as widths and depth of the cross-section. The Nelder-Mead method was used to solve the nonconstrained nonlinear problem like this.

  • An amplitude modulation technique for increasing the laser penetration efficiency for metals has been studied. By chopping electro-optically Nd:YAG laser pulse, the threshold energy for reliable hole drilling was decreased significantly and the penetration depth was increased. It was observed that the effect of chopping was optimal at 8-12 kHz with 60% duty cycle. It is believed that this improvement is due to an increase in the vapor recoil pressure and reduced plasma screening.

  • 정부는 자동화컨테이너터미널을 구축하기 위한 기초연구를 수행하고 있다. 자동화컨테이너터미널은 선박하역을 담당하는 컨테이너 크레인과 애드크레인을 무인 혹은 유/무인 자동제어가 가능하도록 설계하고 선박과 야드간 이동은 AGV를 이용하여 자동화함으로써 생산성 향상, 인건비 절감 등을 목표로 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 1척의 선박이 접안할 수 있는 가상의 자동화컨테이너터미널에서 컨테이너 크레인 수, AGV 대수, 야드 크레인수 등을 변화시켜가면서 터미널의 생산량을 추정할 수 있는 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하여 제시하였다. 또한 향후 자동화컨테이너터미널의 최적 설계 및 운영을 위한 시뮬레이터를 개발하기 위한 구상을 제시하였다.

  • This paper presents development of the program which calculates the electric quantities such as current, voltage at each element of railway electrification system in static state. The purpose of this program is to estimate the adequacy of railway electrification system through simulations. And it contributes the estimations for optimal railway electrification system by calculating the maximum current and voltage. The simulation program is coded through GUI(Graphic User Interface) technique for user to operate easily.
