A study on theergonomic design of the automated ship's bridge and console layout was carried out through this paper. The goal of this study is to find out the effective and ergonomic optimal design solutions of bridge layout hence to reduce the duty officier's workload and increase the safety of navigation. The conventional bridge layouts and modernized Integrated bridge layouts were compared using several factors. To use human factors, an ergonomic control panel layout system based on constraint satisfaction algorithm wa squoted. And the integrated ergonomic bridge layout was converged and applied to the redesign of the navigational console layout.
In this study, the optimal design of the multi-cavity mold layout and packing pressure for the automobile TCU connector cover is determined based on the injection molding analysis and the desirability function method for multi-characteristic optimization. The design characteristics to be optimized are the warpage and sink marks of the product, the scrap of the feed system, and the clamping force. The optimal design is determined by performing injection molding analysis and desirability analysis for design alternatives defined by a complete combination of five mold layouts and six-level packing pressure. The optimal design shows that the desirability values for individual characteristics are quite high and balanced, and the resulting values of individual characteristics are satisfactorily low.
In this paper, we show an optimal structure of impedance control in high density layouts ina high multilayers PCB. The impedance control in a high multilayers FR-4 PCB is very portant isue because a dielectric layer's thickness is very thin. Especially, odd mode impedance control is more difficult than characteristic impedance control in high multilayers PCB. So, we show an optimal structure of odd mode impedance control in that dielectric thickness is about 0.1mm with limited state and discuss multilayers PCB's for swich circuti pack and backplane in developing algorith scale ATM witching system in next time.
One of the significant problems in urban areas is lack of parking spaces. Therefore, maximizing the number of cars that can be parked in a given area becomes increasingly important as land costs increase. This paper presents a methodology of optimal parking lot design in relatively small areas. The discussion is limited to self-parking surface rectangular lots. The selection of stall dimensions and aisle widths is based on the regulations of parking lot design standards of Korea. A personal computer software, OPALD, was developed and implemented to design optimal parking lots. OPALD iterates angles of parking stalls from 45 to 90 degree, generates the combination of paring angles, and selects the best angles to fit the given area. A drawing data file is also generated to draw layouts of parking lots in the CAD pakage (AutoCAD). Application of OPALD shows good results to design parking lots in relatively small areas. By-products of this research represents the parking modules of various angles.
Optimal layer sequencing of a multi-layered acoustical foam is solved to maximize its sound transmission loss. A foam consisting of air and poroelastic layers can be optimized when a limited amount of a poroelastic material is allowed. By formulating the sound transmission loss maximization problem as a one dimensional topology optimization problem, optimal layer sequencing and thickness were systematically found for several frequencies. For optimization, the transmission losses of air and poroelastic layers were calculated by the transfer matrix derived from Biot's theory. By interpolating five intrinsic parameters among several poroelastic material parameters, dear air-poroelastic layer distributions were obtained; no filtering or post-processing was necessary. The optimized foam layouts by the proposed method were shown to differ depending on the frequency of interest.
An optimization formulation is proposed to minimize sound pressures in a two-dimensional cavity by controlling the attachment area of viscoelastic unconstrained damping materials. For the analysis of structural- acoustic systems, a hybrid approach that uses finite elements for structures and boundary elements for cavity is adopted. Four-parameter fractional derivative model is used to accurately represent dynamic characteristics of the viscoelastic materials with respect to frequency and temperature. Optimal layouts of the unconstrained damping layer on structural wall of cavity are identified according to temperatures and the amount of damping material by using a numerical search algorithm.
In the preliminary design stage of prestressed concrete (PSC) box girder bridges, the design factors decided by inexperience designer could heavily affect to the results of final design. There is a possibility that the design ends up with an excessively wasteful design. To achieve an economical design with preventing an excessive design, the optimal design technique has been developed using ADS optimal program and SPCFRAME in this study. The objective function for the optimal design problem is the material cost of box girders and constrained functions are constituted with design specifications and workability. The Sequential Unconstraint Minimization Technique (SUMT) is used for the optimal design in this study. We designed an uniform cross-section bridge and an ununiform cross-section bridge in the same design condition by optimal design technique developed in this study. Analyzing the results obtained for various tendon layouts, we suggest a standard tendon layout which gives the most effective structural behavior.
The goal of this study is to conceptually orientate optimized layouts of outrigger belt trusses which are in widespread use today in the design of tall buildings by strut-and-tie truss models utilizing a topology optimization method. In this study unknown strut-and-tie models are realized by using a typical SIMP method of topology optimization methods. In tradition strut-and-tie model designs find the appropriate strut-and-tie trusses along force paths with respect to elastic stress distribution, and then engineers or designers determine the most proper truss models by experience and intuition. It is linked to a trial-and-error procedure based on heuristic strategies. The presented strut-and tie model design by using SIMP provides that belt truss models are automatically and robustly produced by optimal layout information of struts-and-ties conforming to force paths without any trial-and-error. Numerical applications are studied to verify that outrigger belt trusses for tall buildings are optimally chosen by the proposed method for both static and dynamic responses.

When generating layout schemes, both the material usage and practicality of the cutting process should be considered. This paper presents a two-section algorithm for generating guillotine-cutting schemes of rectangular blanks. It simplifies the cutting process by allowing only one size of blanks to appear in any rectangular block. The algorithm uses an implicit enumeration and a linear programming optimal cutting scheme to maximize the material usage. The algorithm was tested on some benchmark problems in the literature, and compared with the three types of layout scheme algorithm. The experimental results show that the algorithm is effective both in computation time and in material usage.
