In this paper, we propose a floral scent recognition using odor sensors and a odor display using odor distribution system. Proposed odor recognition has method of correlation coefficient between sensors that select optimal sensors in floral scent recognition system of selective multi-sensors. Proposed floral scent recognition system consists of four module such as floral scent acquisition module, optimal sensor decision module, entropy-based floral scent detection module, and floral scent recognition module. Odor distribution system consists of generation module of distribution information, control module of distribution, output module of distribution. We applied to floral scent recognition for performance evaluation of proposed sensors decision method. As a result, application of proposed method with floral scent recognition obtained recognition rate of 95.67% case of using 16 sensors while applied floral scent recognition system of proposed sensor decision method confirmed recognition rate of 96% using only 8 sensors. Also, we applied to odor display of proposed method and obtained 3.18 thorough MOS experimentation.
Recently, instead of a matched die forming method requiring a high cost and long delivery term, a multi-point dieless forming method using a pair of matrix type punch array as flexible dies has been developed. Since the conventional multi-point dieless forming method has some disadvantages of difficulty in precise punch control and high-cost of equipment, a new concept of multi-point dieless forming method combined with an elasto-forming method has been suggested in this study. For optimal selection of elastomers, compression tests of rubbers, polyethylene and foams were carried out together with FEM analysis of the deformation behavior during sheet forming process using a rigid punch and elastomers. Compressive strain was concentrated on the upper central area of the elastomer under the punch, and the rubber exhibited higher concentration of the compressive strain than foams. Two-dimensional curved surface was formed successfully by the multi-point elasto-dieless forming method using an optimal combination of rubber and foam materials.
This paper presents a windows program package for solving security constrained OPF in interconnected power systems, which is based on the combined application of evolutionary programming(EP) and sequential quadratic programming(SQP). The objective functions are the minimization of generation fuel costs and system power losses. The control variables are the active power of the generating units, the voltage magnitude of the generator, transformer tap settings and SVC setting. The state variables are the bus voltage magnitude, the reactive power of the generating unit, line flows and the tie line flow. In OPF considering security, the outages are selected by contingency ranking method. The resulting optimal operating point has to be feasible after outages such as any single line outage(respect of voltage magnitude, reactive power generation and power flow limits). The OPF package proposed is applied to 10 machines 39 buses model system.
This study presents in-line digital particle holography and its application to spray droplets to measure the characteristics of spray droplets. Several important parameters at the time of hologram recording such as the object distance and the region of laser beam used were verified. The correlation coefficient method with important parameters such as the reconstruction interval and the correlation interval was used for determination of the focal planes of particles. The optimal values of all these parameters are obtained by either numerical simulation of holograms or experiments. Using these optimal parameters, double pulse digital spray holograms in a short time interval were recorded with the synchronization system for the time control. The spatial positions of droplets that are used for the evaluation of the three dimensional droplet velocities can be easily located, which proves the feasibility of the digital holographic technology for measurements of several important features of spray droplets.
Since the West Sea experiences a big difference in tides, the output power of the small marine hydroelectric power plant varies with the tide. When an induction generator is used here for small hydroelectric power, the reactive power capacitor should be installed at the generator main bus to compensate for the changes in power. As such, the sizing method for the power compensation of the induction generator is reviewed and an optimal method for compensation is suggested. The self-excitation minimum capacitor capacity method, which prevents high voltages, and the power factor automatic control method, which retains a power factor of greater than 90% are reviewed. The compensation effect of reactive power is confirmed through a case study.
Purpose: This article develops an optimal reliability acceptance sampling plan for the case where the degradation quantity of the performance characteristic follows Weibull distribution. Method: For developing reliability acceptance sampling plans, the sample size and the acceptance constant are determined based on the accelerated characteristic of the test condition and the product. Results: The sample size and the acceptance constant are provided such that the constraints of the producer and the consumer risks are satisfied. Conclusion: Reliability acceptance sampling plans based on the accelerated degradation test method can be used for the quality control within a resonable amount of cost and time. In this article. an optimal reliability sampling plans are newly developed for this purpose.
In switching from the track-seeking or track-jumping control mode to track-following control mode in hard disk drives or optical disk drives, initial values of the feedback controller are tuned to improve the transient response. In general, all the initial values of the controller have been compensated for this purpose. In this paper, by partially compensating initial values of digital controllers, we achieve a good performance of the transient response. In the proposed method for IVC (Intial Value Compensation), LMIs (Linear Matrix Inequalities) are used, which includes conditions for improving the performance of the transient response such as reducing a tracking error and control efforts. We obtain optimal initial values of the controller by solving an optimization problem with constraints represented by only one LMI. Although initial values of the controller are partially compensated, we can show that not only a sufficient performance of the transient response is obtained but also control efforts are diminished. The feasibility of the method is verified by simulation studies.
The dynamic characteristics of power systems become more and more complex because of the integration of large-scale wind power, which needs appropriate control strategy to guarantee stable operation. With wide area measurement system(WAMS) creating conditions for realizing realt-ime transient stability analysis, a new coordinated control strategy for power system transient stability control based on phase-plane trajectory was proposed. When the outputs of the wind farms change, the proposed control method is capable of selecting optimal generators to balance the deviation of wind power and prevent transient instability. With small disturbance on the base operating point, the coordinated sensitivity of each synchronous generator is obtained. Then the priority matrix can be formed by sorting the coordinated sensitivity in ascending order. Based on the real-time output change of wind farm, coordinated generators can be selected to accomplish the coordinated control with wind farms. The results in New England 10-genrator 39-bus system validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed coordinated control strategy.
This paper presents an implementation of high-dynamic performance of position sensorless motion control system of Reluctance Synchronous Motor(RSM) drives for an industrial servo system with direct torque control(DTC), The problems of DTC for high-dynamic performance and maximum efficiency RSM drive due to a saturated stator linkage flux and nonlinear inductance curve with various load currents, The accurate estimation of the stator flux and torque are obtained using stator flux observer of which a saturated inductance Ld and Lq can be compensated by adapting from measurable the modulus and angle of the stator current space vector. To obtain fast torque response and maximum torque/current with varying load current, the reference command flux is ensured by imposing Ids=Iqs. This control strategy is proposed to fast response and optimal efficiency for RSM drive. In order to prove rightness of the suggested control algorithm, the actual experiment carried out at ${\pm}$20 and ${\pm}$1500 rpm. The developed digitally high-performance control system are shown some good response characteristic of control results and high performance features using 1.0kW RSM of which has 2.57 Ld/Lq salient ratio.
The machine vision technology has been widely used in the industrialized nations like the United States, Japan, and EU in the various industries from the late 1980s. Machine vision inspection system mainly consists of a camera, optics, illumination and an image acquisition system. Optimization of the illumination light source is very important. This paper shows a comparison between Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control and strobe control in driving LED lighting system for machine vision. PWM control method has problems such as a temperature rising of LED and a flickering in image measurement for inspection. In contrast, the proposed strobe control method can suppress the temperature of LED light source below 40℃. Also, it can remove the flickering problem through a synchronization between a frame grabber and a camera shutter. Finally, the strobe control method was shown to extract clearer images with a high precision compared to PWM control method.
