Determining the Optimal Number of Signal Clusters Using Iterative HMM Classification

  • In this study, we propose an iterative clustering algorithm that automatically clusters a set of voice signal data without a label into an optimal number of clusters and generates hmm model for each cluster. In the clustering process, the likelihood calculations of the clusters are performed using iterative hmm learning and testing while varying the number of clusters for given data, and the maximum likelihood estimation method is used to determine the optimal number of clusters. We tested the effectiveness of this clustering algorithm on a small-vocabulary digit clustering task by mapping the unsupervised decoded output of the optimal cluster to the ground-truth transcription, we found out that they were highly correlated.

  • 클러스터링 알고리즘에서 최적의 클러스터 수를 결정하기 위한 효율적인 고속 탐색 알고리즘을 소개한다. 제안하는 방법은 클러스터링 적합도의 척도로 사용되는 클러스터 타당성 평가기준을 토대로 한다. 데이터 집합에 클러스터링 프로세스를 진행하여 최적의 클러스터 형상에 도달하게 되면 클러스터 타당성 평가기준은 최대 혹은 최소값을 가질 것으로 기대한다. 본 논문에서는 최적의 클러스터 개수를 찾기 위한 고속의 비소모적 탐색 방법을 설계하고 실제 클러스터링과 접목한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 k-means++ 클러스터링 알고리즘에 적용하였고, 클러스터 타당성 평가기준으로써 CB 및 PBM 타당성 평가기준 방법을 사용하였다. 몇몇의 가상 데이터 집합과 실제 데이터 집합에 실험한 결과, 제안하는 방법은 정확도의 손실 없이 계산 효율을 획기적으로 증가시킴을 보여주었다.

  • Clustering or classification is a very fundamental task that may occur almost everywhere for the purpose of grouping. Optimal clustering is an example of very complicated combinatorial optimization problem and it is hard to develop a generally applicable optimal algorithm. In this paper we propose a general-purpose algorithm for the optimal clustering based on SA(simulated annealing). Among various iterative global optimization techniques imitating natural phenomena that have been proposed and utilized successfully for various combinatorial optimization problem, simulated annealing has its superiority because of its convergence property and simplicity. We first present a version of accelerated simulated annealing(ASA) and then we apply ASA to develop an efficient clustering algorithm. Application examples are also given.

  • Text clustering is one of the most commonly used methods for detecting themes or types of documents. Text clustering is used in many fields, but its effectiveness is still not sufficient to be used for the understanding of Arabic text, especially with respect to terms extraction, unsupervised feature selection, and clustering algorithms. In most cases, terms extraction focuses on nouns. Clustering simplifies the understanding of an Arabic text like the text of the Quran; it is important not only for Muslims but for all people who want to know more about Islam. This paper discusses the complexity and limitations of Arabic text clustering in the Quran based on their themes. Unsupervised feature selection does not consider the relationships between the selected features. One weakness of clustering algorithms is that the selection of the optimal initial centroid still depends on chances and manual settings. Consequently, this paper reviews literature about the three major stages of Arabic clustering: terms extraction, unsupervised feature selection, and clustering. Six experiments were conducted to demonstrate previously un-discussed problems related to the metrics used for feature selection and clustering. Suggestions to improve clustering of the Quran based on themes are presented and discussed.

유전자 알고리듬과 K-평균법을 이용한 지역 분할 (Zone Clustering Using a Genetic Algorithm and K-Means)

  • The zone clustering problem arising from several area such as deciding the optimal location of ambient measuring stations is to devide the 2-dimensional area into several sub areas in which included individual zone shows simimlar properties. In general, the optimal solution of this problem is very hard to obtain. Therefore, instead of finding an optimal solution, the generation of near optimal solution within the limited time is more meaningful. In this study, the combination of a genetic algorithm and the modified k-means method is used to obtain the near optimal solution. To exploit the genetic algorithm effectively, a representation of chromsomes and appropriate genetic operators are proposed. The k-means method which is originally devised to solve the object clustering problem is modified to improve the solutions obtained from the genetic algorithm. The experiment shows that the proposed method generates the near optimal solution efficiently.

  • Autoencoder와 Fuzzy c-Means 알고리즘을 이용하여, 불완전한 데이터의 군집화를 위한 알고리즘이 본 논문에서 제안되었다. 본 논문에서 제안된 Optimal Completion Autoencoder Fuzzy c-Means (OCAEFCM)은 손상되어 불완전한 데이터의 최적 복원과 데이터의 군집화를 위해 Autoencoder Neural Network (AENN) 과 Gradient-based FCM (GBFCM)을 이용하였다. OCAEFCM 의 성능평가를 위해 IRIS 데이터와 금융기관에서 취득한 실제 데이터를 사용하였다 기존의 Optimal Completion Strategy FCM (OCSFCM)과 비교했을 때, 제안된 OCAEFCM 이 OCSFCM 보다 18%-20%의 성능 향상을 보여준다.

A Genetic-Algorithm-Based Optimized Clustering for Energy-Efficient Routing in MWSN

  • With the increasing demands for mobile wireless sensor networks in recent years, designing an energy-efficient clustering and routing protocol has become very important. This paper provides an analytical model to evaluate the power consumption of a mobile sensor node. Based on this, a clustering algorithm is designed to optimize the energy efficiency during cluster head formation. A genetic algorithm technique is employed to find the near-optimal threshold for residual energy below which a node has to give up its role of being the cluster head. This clustering algorithm along with a hybrid routing concept is applied as the near-optimal energy-efficient routing technique to increase the overall efficiency of the network. Compared to the mobile low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy protocol, the simulation studies reveal that the energy-efficient routing technique produces a longer network lifetime and achieves better energy efficiency.

  • 불균형 클러스터링은 클러스터의 크기를 서로 다른 크기로 나누는 방법으로 균형 클러스터링에 비해 핫스팟 문제를 어느 정도 해결할 수 있으므로 전체 네트워크의 에너지 소모량을 줄인다. 본 논문에서는 불균형 클러스터링 모델을 이용하여 계층 기반의 동적 불균형 클러스터링을 제안한다. 이는 라운드별로 최적의 클러스터 수 및 클러스터 헤드 위치를 제공함으로써 전체 네트워크에 대한 에너지 소모를 균형 있게 하고 또한 네트워크 수명을 연장시킨다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 기법이 이전 클러스터링 기법보다 네트워크 수명이 연장되었음을 보였다.

An Optimal Clustering using Hybrid Self Organizing Map

  • Many clustering methods have been studied. For the most part of these methods may be needed to determine the number of clusters. But, there are few methods for determining the number of population clusters objectively. It is difficult to determine the cluster size. In general, the number of clusters is decided by subjectively prior knowledge. Because the results of clustering depend on the number of clusters, it must be determined seriously. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for determining the number of clusters using hybrid' self organizing map and new criterion for evaluating the clustering result. In the experiment, we verify our model to compare other clustering methods using the data sets from UCI machine learning repository.

  • CRM(Customer Relationship Management : CRM) is an advanced marketing supporting system which analyze customers\` transaction data and classify or target customer groups to effectively increase market share and profit. Many engines were developed to implements the function and those for classification and clustering are considered core ones. In this study, an improved clustering method based on SOM(Self-Organizing Maps : SOM) is proposed. The proposed clustering method finds the optimal number of clusters so that the effectiveness of clustering is increased. It considers all the data types existing in CRM data warehouses. In particular, and adaptive algorithm where the concepts of degeneration and fusion are applied to find optimal number of clusters. The feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated through simulation with simplified data of customers.
