  • 차등 시공간 블록 코드 시스템은 다이버시티 이득을 송신단에서 파일럿 삽입이 필요 없이 얻을 수 있는 기술로 주목되고 있다. 특히, 협력 네트워크 시스템에서 서비스 영역을 확장하기 위하여 중계기를 사용하게 되는데 자연스럽게 채널 추정 기법을 고려하지 않은 방법들이 연구 되었다. 본 논문은 차등 준 시공간 블록 코드를 이용한 협력 전송 네트워크에서 ML(Maximum Likelihood) 기반의 준 최적 신호 결합 기법을 제시한다. 모의실험 결과를 통해 제안된 수신 결합 기법은 높은 신호 대 잡음비 환경에서 기존에 널리 사용되는 MRC (Maximum Ratio Combining) 기법보다 5dB이상의 이득을 얻는 것을 보여준다.

  • 실감형 디스플레이 장치들을 지원하기 위해 다시점 영상을 효율적으로 코딩하는 방법은 다시점 비디오 코딩 방법과 다양한 전송 환경과 다양한 종류의 단말들을 통합적으로 지원할 수 있는 스케일러블 비디오 코딩 방법은 존재하지만, 현재 유비쿼터스 환경에서 실감형 서비스를 지원하면서 동시에 다양한 환경을 지원할 수 있는 통합된 동영상 정보를 생성하는 방법은 존재하지 않는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 통합된 동영상 정보를 생성하는 다중 확장 비디오 코딩의 개념과 동작에 대해 설명하고 최적의 inter layer 참조 영상 선택 방법에 대해 분석한다.

  • An efficient algorithm to compress high dynamic range (HDR) videos is proposed in this work. We separate an HDR video sequence into a tone-mapped low dynamic range (LDR) sequence and a ratio sequence. Then, we encode those two sequences using the standard H.264/AVC codec. During the encoding, we allocate a limited amount of bit budget to the LDR sequence and the ratio sequence adaptively to maximize the qualities of both the LDR and HDR sequences. While a conventional LDR decoder uses only the LDR stream, an HDR decoder can reconstruct the HDR video using the LDR stream and the ratio stream. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides higher performance than the conventional methods.

  • Many image display devices allow only a limited number of colors to be simultaneously displayed. In displaying of natural color image using color palette, it is necessary to construct an optimal color palette and map each pixel of the original image to a color palette with fast. In this paper, we proposed the clustering algorithm using local region block centered one color cluster in the prequantized 3-D histogram. Cluster pairs which have the least distortion error are merged by considering distortion measure. The clustering process is continued until to obtain the desired number of colors. Same as the clustering process, original color image is mapped to palette color via a local region block centering around prequantized original color value. The proposed algorithm incorporated with a spatial activity weighting value which is smoothing region. The method produces high quality display images and considerably reduces computation time.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for energy efficient cooperative communication in wireless sensor network (WSN). The algorithm computes the appropriate transmission distance corresponding to optimal broadcast bit error probability, while taking the circuit energy consumption and the number of cooperating nodes into consideration. The algorithm guarantees minimum energy consumption by choosing higher value of bit error probability for cooperative phase and lower value of bit error probability for broadcast phase while maintaining the required end-to-end reliability. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides significant energy saving gain when compared with traditional fixed distance schemes and is suitable for applications demanding energy efficiency with high quality of reception.

  • Compressed Sensing (CS) has been developed for several years. Among many CS algorithms for image, the Block-based Compressed Sensing with Smoothed Projected Landweber (BCS-SPL) demonstrates its excellent performance in low-complexity and near-optimal reconstruction. Several noise filtering algorithms of image reconstruction have been introduced such as the Wiener or the median filters, etc. In general, each filter has its own advantages and disadvantages depending on specific coding scheme. In this paper, we show that reconstruction performance can be varied according to the choice of filter. When a sub-rate value is changed, different filter causes different effect as well. Concerning the sub-rate, an inner filter can be chosen to improve the reconstructed image quality.

  • 본 논문은 열악한 채널 환경에서 ATSC 방식의 DTV 수신기의 성능 개선을 위해 빔 선택형 DTV 수신기 구조와 최적의 빔 선택을 위한 알고리즘을 제시하고자 한다. 빔 선택형 DTV 수신기의 채널 개선으로 인한 수신기의 성능 개선 효과와 이에 따른 최적 빔 선택을 위한 조건들을 살펴된다. 그리고 필드 테스트를 통해 측정된 ATSC DTV 수신 채널 모델링을 이용하여 등차기만을 사용하는 기존의 DTV수긴기와 빔 선택형 DTV수신기의 성능을 모의 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

Blocking Effect Reduction Techniques for Image Coding (영상 부호화에서 발생하는 블록경계 현상을 줄이는 방법)

  • Due to independent processing of image block, DCT-based block coding algorithms can produce the blocking effect qhich is gray-level discontinuity along block boundaries of the reconstructed image. In this paper, we have proposed two techniques to reduce the blocking effect: two-stage transform coding with variable quantizer and the globally optimum filtering. We have also compared performances of our algorithms and other conventional algorithms by applying optimal allocation.

  • 본 논문은 2.4GHz 대역을 사용하는 WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network)환경에서 동일 채널을 사용하는 경우에 발생하는 간섭을 제거하기 위해 MMSE(Minimum Mean Square Error), OC(Optimal Combining), ML(Maximum Likelihood)을 비교 분석하였으며, IEEE 802.15.6에서 정의된 시나리오 및 채널 모델에 대해서 분석하였다. 모의실험 결과 ML 알고리즘이 가장 우수한 성능을 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 ML과 OC의 경우 원하는 신호의 채널 정보뿐만 아니라 간섭채널의 정보를 알아야 하기 때문에 채널을 추정하기 위한 훈련 심볼의 자리를 수신노드에서 알고 있어야 하므로 WBAN환경에 적용하는데 어려움이 있다. 따라서 복잡도와 성능사이에 적당한 trade-off를 만족하는 간섭 제거 알고리즘을 연구해야 할 것이다.

K-Means Algorithm Using Texture Directionality for Natural Image Segmentation

  • The goal of this research is to describe relations between impressions and elements in an image (i.e. color, texture and contours). Adequate image segmentation technique to extract these elements is required. We think that a sketch and a realistic painting are examples of optimal segmented images for our purpose because brush strokes are seem to be segmented areas and realistic paintings should remain the same impression as the model. For the reason, in this paper the segmentation technique which can create realistic painting-like segmentation is exploited. It is shown that the realistic painting-like segmentation is suitable for analyzing images.
