해수의 광학적 성질에 관한 연구 ( 1 ) - 부산근해의 하계 및 추계변화 (Optical Properties of Sea Water 1 Variation of the Coastal Sea Water Near Busan in Summer and Autumn)

  • The optical properties of the sea water were studied by use of underwater lux-meters in the coastal waters of Busan from May to November 1975. The absorption coefficient of the sea water in the area ranges from O. 169 to 1. 049 and the mean absorpflOn coefficient is 0.413. Maximum monthly mean absorption coefficient (0. 56) was observed in August, while the minimum was O. 338 in September. There was a distinct discontinuity layer of the absorption coefficient in accordance with the thermocline and the halocline in summer. The mean transparency of the area was 3. 8 meters, and transparency in autumn was higher than that in summer. The relation between absorption coefficient (m) and transparency (D) was deduced, m=1. 57/ D. The rate of light penetration at 5 m-layer of sea water was 2. 5 percent when the solar altitude was six degree in July 1975.

새로운 2,7-Dihydroxynaphthalene Bis(trimellitate anhydride) 무수물을 이용한 폴리(에스터 이미드) 공중합체의 특성 (Characterizations of Copoly(ester imide)s with New 2,7-Dihydroxynaphthalene Bis(trimellitate anhydride))

  • Trimellitic anhydride chloride와 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene을 이용하여 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene bis(trimellitate anhydride) (2,7-TA)의 무수물 단량체를 합성하였다. 합성된 2,7-TA와 p-xylylenediamine 및 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl) benzidine(TFB)을 다양한 몰 비로 반응하여 얻은 폴리아믹산(polyamic acid, PAA)을 유리판에서 열처리하여 에스터기를 가지는 폴리이미드 공중합체(copolyimide, Co-PI)를 합성하였다. 합성된 Co-PI는 TFB의 몰 비 조성에 따라 열적 성질, 가스 투과도, 및 광학 성질 등을 조사하였다. 용액 캐스팅으로 합성된 Co-PI 필름은 유연하고 질긴 성질을 보였다. Co-PI 필름은 모두 투명하였으며, 각 필름의 cut-off wavelength은 370~395 nm이었고, 노란색 지수는 3.55~7.63의 비교적 낮은 값을 보여주었다. Co-PI 필름의 열적 성질들은 TFB의 몰 비가 증가할수록 증가하였지만, 산소 차단성과 광학 투명성에서는 반대의 결과를 보여주었다.

  • 용액 삽입법을 이용하여 다양한 함량의 사포나이트(SPT) 점토를 포함한 폴리(비닐 알코올)(poly(vinyl alcohol), PVA) 나노 복합체 필름을 제조하였다. SPT를 0에서 10 wt%까지 첨가한 PVA 나노 복합체 필름들의 열적 특성, 모폴로지, 광학 투명성 및 기체 투과성에 대해 조사하였다. 특히 5 wt% SPT 포함한 PVA 복합체 필름이 매우 우수한 열적 특성과 기체 차단성을 나타내었다. 5 wt% SPT 포함된 복합체 필름을 연신율에 따라 150에서 250%까지 이축 연신하였고, 이축 연신율에 따른 점토 분산성, 광학적 특성 및 기체 투과성에 대한 조사를 하였다. 다양한 비로 이축 연신한 PVA 나노 복합체 필름은 우수한 광학 투명성과 산소 차단성을 보였다.

투명한 공중합체 폴리이미드 필름의 합성 및 특성 연구(II) (Synthesis and Characterization of Transparent Copolyimide Films (II))

  • Bis(3-aminophenyl)sulfone(APS)과 불소 치환체(-$CF_3$)를 가지는 4,4'-(hexa-fluoroisopropylidene) diphthalic anhyide(6FDA)에 각각 다른 몰 비의 설폰기(-$SO_2$-)를 가지는 3,3',4,4'-diphenylsulfonetetracar-boxylic dianhydride(DSDA)를 함량 별로 공중합하여 폴리이미드(PI) 필름을 합성하였다. PI 필름은 폴리아믹산(PAA)을 열적 이미드화 방법으로 유리판 위에 용액 캐스팅(solution casting)하여 얻었다. 넓은 각 X-선 회절도(XRD), 전계 방사형 주사 전자 현미경(FE-SEM), 시차 주사 열량계(DSC), 열 중량 분석기(TGA), 만능 인장 시험기(UTM), 및 자외선-가시광선 흡광도기(UV-Vis. Spectrometer)를 사용하여 얻어진 PI 필름의 열적-기계적 성질, 모폴로지, 그리고 광학 투명도를 측정하였다. DSDA의 몰 비가 증가할수록 열적, 광학 투명도는 감소하였지만, 기계적 성질은 이와는 반대로 증가하였다. 하지만, 기존의 PI 필름에 비해서는 한층 우수한 광학 투명성을 보여주었다.

Observation of the Electromagnetically Induced Transparency and Dispersion-like Structure in Trapped Cs Atoms

  • We report experiemtnal results demonstrating the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in trapped Cs atoms. EIT occurs at the Λ-type configuration where the re0-pumping laser simultaneously plays a role as the coupling laser in the presence of a magneto-optical trapping and weak magnetic fields. Dependences of EIT signal on both the intensity and the detuning of the coupling laser were investigated. Linear absorption spectra for cold cesium atoms in the magneto-optical trap have been observed and shown the pronounced dispersion-like structure with sub-natural linewidth of 1 MHz due to the cooling laser.

Analysis of Optical Properties with Photopolymers for Holographic Application

  • Optical transparency and high diffraction efficiency are two essential factors for high performance of the photopolymer. Optical transparency mainly depends on the miscibility between polymer binder and photopolymerized polymer, while diffraction efficiency depends on the refractive index modulation between polymer binder and photopolymerized polymer. For most of organic materials, the large refractive index difference between two polymers accompanies large structural difference that leads to the poor miscibility and thus poor optical quality via light scattering. Therefore, it is difficult to design a high-performance photopolymer satisfying both requirements. In this work, first, we prepared a new phase-stable photopolymer (PMMA) with large refractive index modulation and investigated the optical properties. Our photopolymer is based on modified poly (methyl methacrylate) as a polymer binder, acryl amide as a photopolymerizable monomer, triethanolamine as initiator, and yellow eosin as a photosensitizer at 532 nm. Diffraction efficiency over 85% and optical transmittance over 90% were obtained for the photopolymer. Second, Organic-inorganic nanocomposite films were prepared by dispersing an aromatic methacrylic monomer and a photo- initiator in organic-inorganic hybrid sol-gel matrices. The film properties could be controlled by optimizing the content of an organically modified silica precursor (TSPEG) in the sol-gel matrices. The photopolymer film modified with the organic chain (TSPEG) showed high diffraction efficiency (> 90%) under an optimized condition. High diffraction efficiency could be ascribed to the fast diffusion and efficient polymerization of monomers under interference light to generate refractive index modulation. The TSPEG modified photopolymer film could be successfully used for holographic memory.

투명 대전방지 필름 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Characteristics of Transparent Anti-static Films)

  • In order to develop the transparent anti-static film with higher than 80% transparency to visible light, organic conductive compounds, N-methyl phenazinium 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinonedimethane (TCNQ) com-plex salts was synthesized and bar-coated on the polythylene terephthalate (PET) film using polymer binders. The best surface properties were obtained when acrylic binder was used. A single layer of TCNQ made of a acrylic binder showed a surface resistance of 10\ulcorner $\Omega$/ , a conductivity of 10\ulcorner S/cm, and a transparency of 75%. An optical microscopic examination revealed that the binder was first solidi-fied on the surface of PET film over which the needle-shaped TCNQ crystals were grown. An acrylic polyol coating over the TCNQ layer improved the transparency to 87%, becuase the acrylic polyol covers the surface of TCNQ crystals to reduce the surface roughness. This conductive material has thermal stability at room temperature and 4$0^{\circ}C$ over 4,000 h.
