경사 단면 광섬유 광원을 이용한 피조 간섭계 (Fizeau interferometry using angled end-face optical fiber source)

  • 피조 간섭계의 측정 정밀도를 향상시키기 위해서 광 분할기를 제거한 형태의 피조 간섭계를 구현했다. 단일 모드 광섬유를 구면파 광원으로 사용했고 끝 단을 반사면으로 만들기 위해서 경면 가공했다. 반사면은 적당한 각도로 경사지게 가공되어 있는데 이것은 간섭무늬의 CCD관찰을 용이하게 한다. 경사 단면 광섬유 광원을 이용한 피조 간섭계는 기존의 피조 간섭계에서 구면파를 왜곡시키는 광 분할기를 제거함으로써 측정 정밀도를 향상시킬 수 있었다 또한 동일한 시편의 측정결과를 비교함으로써 기존의 피조 간섭계로부터 개선된 정밀도를 정량적으로 구할 수 있었다. 그리고 경사 단면 광섬유 광원의 구면파정도를 알아보기 위해서 PS/PDI(Phase Shifting/Point Diffraction Interferometer)를 구현함으로써 광원의 구면파 정도를 실험적으로 검증했다.

집적형 광탐침 헤드의 실리카 광도파로 제조기술 (Silica Waveguide for Integrated Diffractive Optical Head)

  • Silica waveguide for an integrated diffractive optical head system was designed and fabricated. The waveguide was designed to optimize the optical efficiency of red and/or blue laser source, and a lab-made RF magnetron sputter was adopted to deposit silica cladding and core layers on SiO$_2$/Si substrates. The cladding and core layers were formed using commercial targets, and the former was done with #7740 and the latter with BK7 and BAK4, respectively The surface roughness of the waveguide layers was measured to be 30.3${\AA}$ for BK7 and 17.8${\AA}$ for BAK4, and the difference of refractive indices between core and cladding layers was 0.9% and 2.5%, respectively. The waveguide fabricated with the core layer of BK7 showed better optical properties when the final diffractive optical probe heads were measured with red laser(650nm) source.

Performance Analysis for Optimizing Threshold Level Control of a Receiver in Asynchronous 2.5 Gbps/1.2 Gbps Optical Subscriber Network with Inverse Return to Zero(RZ) Coded Downstream and NRZ Upstream Re-modulation

  • We propose the performance enhancing method optimization of an asynchronous 2.5 Gbps/1.25 Gbps optical subscriber network with inverse RZ (Return to Zero) coded downstream and NRZ (Non Return to Zero) upstream re-modulation by adjusting threshold level control of a receiver. We theoretically analyze the BER (Bit Error Rate) performance by modeling the occurrence of BER by simulation with MATLAB according to the types of downstream data. The results have shown that the normalized threshold level in an optical receiver could be saturated at 1/3 as the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) increases. The needed SNR for obtaining the BER $10^{-9}$ can be reduced by $\sim$5 dB by optimizing the normalized threshold level at 1/3 instead of by using the conventional receiver with threshold level of 0.5. The proposed system can be a useful technology for asynchronous optical access networks with asymmetric upstream and downstream data rates, because the improved minimum receiving power could replace a light source with a source with lower power and lower cost in an OLT (Optical Line Termination).

평면 프리즘 LED 조명기구 배광수치모델의 다양한 배광 제어를 위한 연구 (A Study for the Control of Various Luminous Intensity Distribution in Numerical Model of Planar Prism LED Luminaire)

  • There are several technological problems have to be resolved for LEDs to be used as a general purpose light source. In addition, there are several differences between existing luminaires and the general planer LED luminaire for the intensity distribution. Therefore, the optical engineer then faces the challenging a problem of designing for a spatially extended and non-uniform light source. In the previous studies on the optical design of luminaires, a lot of studies on reflectors and light source have been conducted but the ones on prisms and lenses are insufficient at present. This study developed the numerical model of planar prism LED luminaire to control luminous intensity distribution of LED luminaires. And this study presents an optical calculation process for the prism optical design of a planar prism LED luminaire and a comparison of the simulation results between the developed numerical model and Photopia 2.0 to verify the accuracy of the numerical model. In addition, this study showed a method for the control of various luminous intensity distribution from the developed numerical model.

연기입자의 광학적 특성과 신경망을 이용한 화원분석에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Fire Sources Analysis Using the Optical Characteristics of Smoke Particles and Neural Networks)

  • 신경망은 연기입자의 광학적 특징으로부터 화원을 분석할 수 있는 유용한 도구가 될 수 있다. UL268에서 연기감지기 시험에 사용되는 세 가지 화원(종이화원, 목재화원, 인화성 액체화원)들의 광학적 특징으로 신경망을 훈련시켰다. 또한, 소광과 산란을 동시에 측정할 수 있는 연기챔버를 제작하여 연기의 광학적 특징을 얻고 그 결과를 신경망에 입력하였다. 종이화원, 목재화원, 인화성 액체화원을 대상으로 한 실험에서 신경망은 화원을 정확하게 구별하였다. 또한, 종이-목재화원, 종이-인화성 액체화원, 목재-인화성 액체화원과 같은 복합화원을 대상으로 한 실험에서도 화원을 모두 구별하였다.

넓은 대역 광원을 이용한 광 가입자 선로 운용보전 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the operation and Maintenance system for optical subscriber loops using a broadband light source)

  • This paper presents a noble operation and maintenance system for the optical subscriber loops and its feasibility through several experiments. In this system, a broadband CW (Continuous Wave) light source I used as monitoring of testing signals. and a FGF(Fiber Grating Filter) of which reflective wavelength is independent, is inserted somewhere in each subscriber loop for the reflection of monitoring of testing signals. The propose of the system is quick decision. whether the loop is just fault or not. rather than detailed information of loop state. At present, most of operation and maintenance system for the optical subscriber loops adopts OTDR(optical time domain reflectometer) for testing function. the OTDR is useful for detailed test, but not adequate for simple test because of long testing time . And it is difficult to test PON network by using general OTDR that has a single-wavelength light source. Compared to using OTDR, the proposed system can afford to shorten testing time and to test PON network. Moreover, we can cut down the system cost by simplifying circuits of the optical light sources. Our results show that the proposed system operates well according to the purpose mentioned above.

$CdS/CuInSe_2$태양전지의 Window Layer로 쓰이는 CdS박막의 진공증착법에 따른 전기적.광학적 성질 (Electrical and Optical Properties of Vacuum-Evaporated CdS Films for the Window Layer of $CdS/CuInSe_2$ Solar Cells.)

  • CdS/CuInSe2 태양전지에서 창측재료로 1μm 두께의 CdS박막을 1x10-3mTorr의 진공하에서 CdS source 온도를 800-1100'C로 하고 기판의 온도를 50-200℃로하여 진공증차겁으로 제조하였다. 증착된 CdS박막의 구조적, 전기적, 광학적 특성조사는 x-ray diffractometer(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM), 전기비저항 측정, Hall measurement 그리고 optical transmission spectra로 행하였고, 각막들의 성분분석은 energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX)를 가하나, 광투과도는 감소하였다. 이때 증착된 CdS 박막들은 모두 hexagonal 구조를 가지고 있었으며, 결정성은 기판유리를 딸 (002)면으로 형성되었다. CdS Source 온도가 1000℃에서 증착된 CdS 박막이 0.9(S/cm)의 가장 높은 전기 전도도를 나타내었다. 또한 기판온도를 100'C로 제조한 CdS 박막이 전기비저항은 40(Ω,cm)이었고 광투과도는 80% 이상의 값을 나타내어 CdS/CuInSe2 태양전지의 창측재료로 적합했다.
