랜드/그루부 기록형 상변화 광디스크 박막에 대한 열전달 해석 (Heat Transfer Analysis on Phase Change Optical Disc with Land/Groove Recording)

  • This study deals with the heat transfer analysis on phase change optical disc with land/groove recording by means of numerical method. Finite difference time domain(FDTD) method was used to obtain the amount of absorption of light propagating inside disc and finite difference element(FEM) method was used to calculate the temperature distribution. The calculated results present the detailed information of recording characteristics on the phase change optical disc. The temperature profiles are quite different between the land track and the groove track. The recorded mark shape on land track is smaller and more elliptic than that on groove track. It is shown that the thermal problem to the neighboring track takes place due to secondary peaks. It is found that the different write strategy should be applied to land and groove recording, respectively.

  • This paper presents an approach to optimally design the air-hearing surface (ABS) of the optical flying head for near-field recording technology (NFR) NFR is an optical recording technology using very small beam spot size by overcoming the limit of beam diffraction. One of the most important problems in NFR Is a head disk interface (HDI) issue over the recording band during the operation. A multi-criteria optimization problem is formulated to enhance the flying performances over the entire recording band during the steady state. The optimal solution of the slider, whose target flying height is 50 nm, is automatically obtained. The flying height during the steady state operation becomes closer to the target values than those for the Initial one. The pitch and roll angles are also kept within suitable ranges over the recording band. Especially. all of the all-hearing stiffness are drastically increased by the optimized geometry of the air hearing surface.

  • We demonstrate a high-speed recording based on field-induced manipulation in combination with an optical reading of recorded bits on Au cluster films using the atomic force microscope (AFM) and the near-field scanning optical microscope (NSOM). We reproduced 50 nm-sized mounds by applying short electrical pulses to conducting tips in a non-contact mode as a writing process. The recorded marks were then optically read using bent fiber probes in a transmission mode. A strong enhancement of light transmission is attributed to the local surface plasmon excitation on the protruded dots.

  • The storing ability of information of optical disks directly depends on the physical property of recording unit cells. It means that the degradation of optical disks ultimately causes the loss of the physical and chemical properties of recording unit cells and leads also information, too. We investigated the degradation and life time of optical disks which tell us the longevity of the preservation of information. Optical disks were aged using the accelerated aging system and studied by optical reflectivity spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy(AFM), and the preservation environment of electronic media in National central library of Korea also were analysed. Results show that the double reflective coated optical disks have good preservation of recording information but revealed some deformation of dye area in the AFM images. It means that we should include the mechanical and chemical degradation of the optical disks in the life time expectation evaluation.

Simple Near-Field Optical Recording Using Bent Cantilever Probes

  • This paper describes our high-density near-field optical recording using bent cantilever fiber probes installed in an atomic force microscope. We conducted a near-field reading of nano-scale hole patterns with a 100 nm spatial resolution and a 25 ${\mu}m$/s scan speed; this implies a capability of a data reading density of 60 Gb/$in^2$ with a 0.25 kbps data transfer rate. In addition, we investigated re-writable near-field recording on photochromic diarylethene films. We successfully recorded erasable memory bits having a minimum width of 600 nm in a writing time as short as 30ms. We found that using a cantilever probe simplifies the setup and operation of the near-field optical recording system and may offer multifunctional recording capabilities.

  • Optical data storage offer high density storage and archival storage capability. In this study, we selected the ablation mechanism-one of an irreversible recording system-using the antireflection trilayer(ART) structure. Optical recording medium is a $(Te_{86}Se_{14})_{50}Bi_{50}$ thin films. Actually, ART structure is fabricated and compared to monolayer structure. ART structure leads to the reduction of recording power as well as an increase in the effciency compared to the monolayer structure.

  • In this paper, we investigate field distribution and interference pattern in the exit pupil and in the focal region. Also, we compare with metal and dielectric substrate for near-field recording. To obtain field distribution, we use modified vector diffraction theory and Zernike Polynomials. Finally, we design and optimize refractive index and thickness of disk for near-field surface recording and cover-layer incident recording.

  • In this paper, we researched optical characteristics of a holographic optical security system using a reflection recording material and optical random phase mask. The system have the property of optical security key with the phase mask. Also, a reflection recording geometry can reduced a size of the reconstruction system because a input beam to reconstruct a holographic image and a diffraction beam are the same side on the material.

  • Photopolymers have been of considerable due to their easy of processing and high sensitivity. Exposure of photopolymers to optical source produce recroding mark where the light initiates a photoreaction that occurs preferentially in regions of high illumination. The photoreaction typically involves polymerization of an acrylic or epoxy monomer dispersed together with a photoinitiators in a polymeric binder. A number of photopolymerizable materials have been developed to apply them in 3D optical recording such as holographic or 3-dimensional data storage. In this presentation, photopolymers derived from sol-gel matrix and transparent polymer binder are summarized. The effect of monomer composition and plasticizers on optical recording will be discussed based on the monomer transport during the photopolymerization.
