The non-contact body temperature measurement system is one of the key factors, which is manage febrile diseases in mass facilities using optical and thermal imaging cameras. Conventional systems can only be used for simple body temperature measurement in the face area, because it is used only a deep learning-based face detection algorithm. So, there is a limit to detecting abnormal symptoms of the infants and young children, who have difficulty expressing their opinions. This paper proposes an improved facial expression recognition algorithm for detecting abnormal symptoms in infants and young children. The proposed method uses an object detection model to detect infants and young children in an image, then It acquires the coordinates of the eyes, nose, and mouth, which are key elements of facial expression recognition. Finally, facial expression recognition is performed by applying a selective sharpening filter based on the obtained coordinates. According to the experimental results, the proposed algorithm improved by 2.52%, 1.12%, and 2.29%, respectively, for the three expressions of neutral, happy, and sad in the UTK dataset.

In this paper, a photonic-based microwave system technology is described, and a traveling-wave electro-optic modulator is designed and manufactured as a key component. The fabricated modulator is composed of a metal diffusion waveguide for optical transmission and a planar waveguide electrode on lithium niobate substrate for microwave transmission. The electro-optic response bandwidth of I and Q channels in a fabricated dual parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator were measured for 27.67 and 28.11 GHz, respectively. Photonic four times up-converted X-band frequency and linear frequency modulated signal were confirmed using the fabricated electro-optic modulator by S-band input signal. The confirmed broadband signal can be applied to a microwave system for surveillance and high-resolution ISAR imaging.
We investigate the signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of time-domain (i.e. pulsed illumination) and frequency-domain (i.e. chirped illumination) photoacoustic signals measured by a spherically focused ultrasound transducer for spherical absorbers. The simulation results show that the time-domain photoacoustic SNR is higher than that of frequency-domain photoacoustic signals, as reported in the previous literature. We understand the reason for this SNR gap between the two measurement modes by analyzing photoacoustic-signal spectra, considering the incident beam energy controlled by the maximum permissible exposure. As the result of this approach, we find that filtering off the DC term in the chirped signal's spectrum improves frequency-domain photoacoustic SNRs by up to approximately 5 dB. In particular, it is observed that photoacoustic SNRs are highly sensitive to an upper-frequency value of frequency filtering functions, and the optimal upper-frequency values maximizing the SNR are different in time- and frequency-domain photoacoustic measurements.

BACKGROUND: Because three-dimensional (3D) models more closely mimic native tissues, one of the goals of 3D in vitro tissue models is to aid in the development and toxicity screening of new drug therapies. In this study, a 3D skin wound healing model comprising of a collagen type I construct with fibrin-filled defects was developed. METHODS: Optical imaging was used to measure keratinocyte migration in the presence of fibroblasts over 7 days onto the fibrin-filled defects. Additionally, cell viability and growth of fibroblasts and keratinocytes was measured using the $alamarBlue^{(R)}$ assay and changes in the mechanical stiffness of the 3D construct was monitored using compressive indentation testing. RESULTS: Keratinocyte migration rate was significantly increased in the presence of fibroblasts with the cells reaching the center of the defect as early as day 3 in the co-culture constructs compared to day 7 for the control keratinocyte monoculture constructs. Additionally, constructs with the greatest rate of keratinocyte migration had reduced cell growth. When fibroblasts were cultured alone in the wound healing construct, there was a 1.3 to 3.4-fold increase in cell growth and a 1.2 to 1.4-fold increase in cell growth for keratinocyte monocultures. However, co-culture constructs exhibited no significant growth over 7 days. Finally, mechanical testing showed that fibroblasts and keratinocytes had varying effects on matrix stiffness with fibroblasts degrading the constructs while keratinocytes increased the construct's stiffness. CONCLUSION: This 3D in vitro wound healing model is a step towards developing a mimetic construct that recapitulates the complex microenvironment of healing wounds and could aid in the early studies of novel therapeutics that promote migration and proliferation of epithelial cells.
Background Lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat lymphedema. Volumetric measurements and quality-of-life assessments are often performed to assess the effectiveness of LVA, but there is no method that provides information regarding postoperative morphological changes in lymphatic vessels and veins after LVA. Photoacoustic lymphangiography (PAL) is an optical imaging technique that visualizes the distribution of light-absorbing molecules, such as hemoglobin or indocyanine green (ICG), and provides three-dimensional images of superficial lymphatic vessels and the venous system simultaneously. In this study, we performed PAL in lymphedema patients before and after LVA and compared the images to evaluate the effect of LVA. Methods PAL was performed using the PAI-05 system in three patients (one man, two women) with lymphedema, including one primary case and two secondary cases, before LVA. ICG fluorescence lymphography was performed in all cases before PAL. Follow-up PAL was performed between 5 days and 5 months after LVA. Results PAL enabled the simultaneous visualization of clear lymphatic vessels that could not be accurately seen with ICG fluorescence lymphography and veins. We were also able to observe and analyze morphological changes such as the width and the number of lymphatic vessels and veins during the follow-up PAL after LVA. Conclusions By comparing preoperative and postoperative PAL images, it was possible to analyze the morphological changes in lymphatic vessels and veins that occurred after LVA. Our study suggests that PAL would be useful when assessing the effect of LVA surgery.
A very large number of pixels is required to generate a computer generated hologram (CGH) with a large-size and wide viewing angle equivalent to that of an analog hologram, which incurs a very large amount of computation. For this reason, a high-performance computing device and long computation time were required to generate high-definition CGH. To solve these problems, in this paper, we propose a technique for generating high-definition CGH by arraying the pre-calculated low-definition CGH and multiplying the appropriately-shifted concave lens function. Using the proposed technique, 0.1 Gigapixel CGH recorded by the point cloud method can be used to calculate 2.5 Gigapixels CGH at a very high speed, and the recorded hologram image was successfully reconstructed through the experiment.
The adaptive sparse representation (ASR) can effectively combine the structure information of a sample dictionary and the sparsity of coding coefficients. This algorithm can effectively consider the correlation between training samples and convert between sparse representation-based classifier (SRC) and collaborative representation classification (CRC) under different training samples. Unlike SRC and CRC which use fixed norm constraints, ASR can adaptively adjust the constraints based on the correlation between different training samples, seeking a balance between l1 and l2 norm, greatly strengthening the robustness and adaptability of the classification algorithm. The correlation coefficients (CC) can better identify the pixels with strong correlation. Therefore, this article proposes a hyperspectral image classification method called correlation coefficients and adaptive sparse representation (CCASR), based on ASR and CC. This method is divided into three steps. In the first step, we determine the pixel to be measured and calculate the CC value between the pixel to be tested and various training samples. Then we represent the pixel using ASR and calculate the reconstruction error corresponding to each category. Finally, the target pixels are classified according to the reconstruction error and the CC value. In this article, a new hyperspectral image classification method is proposed by fusing CC and ASR. The method in this paper is verified through two sets of experimental data. In the hyperspectral image (Indian Pines), the overall accuracy of CCASR has reached 0.9596. In the hyperspectral images taken by HIS-300, the classification results show that the classification accuracy of the proposed method achieves 0.9354, which is better than other commonly used methods.
A cylindrical microlens (CML) has been widely used as an optical element for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), light diffusers, image sensors, 3D imaging, etc. To fabricate high-performance optoelectronic devices, the CML with high aspect ratio is demanded. In this work, we report on facile solution-based processes (i.e., slot-die and needle coatings) to fabricate the CML using poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). It is found that compared with needle coating, slot-die coating provides the CML with lower aspect ratio due to the wide spread of solution along the hydrophilic head lip. Although needle coating provides the CML with high aspect ratio, it requires a high precision needle array module. To demonstrate that the aspect ratio of CML can be enhanced using slot-die coating, we have varied the molecular weight of PMMA. We can achieve the CML with higher aspect ratio using PMMA with lower molecular weight at a fixed viscosity because of the higher concentration of PMMA solute in the solution. We have also shown that the aspect ratio of CML can be further boosted by coating it repeatedly. With this scheme, we have fabricated the CML with the width of 252 ㎛ and the thickness of 5.95 ㎛ (aspect ratio=0.024). To visualize its light diffusion property, we have irradiated a laser beam to the CML and observed that the laser beam spreads widely in the vertical direction of the CML.

In this paper, a wrinkled structure was formed on the PDMS surface through UV/Ozone treatment, and the wrinkle structure formation mechanism was revealed through physicochemical characterization. A wrinkle structure was formed on the PDMS surface through UV/Ozone treatment for 30 min, and periodic wrinkle formation on the PDMS surface was confirmed by cross-sectional imaging of the scanning electron microscope. In addition, through x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy spectral analysis, it was confirmed that the silica-like-surface of SiOx on the PDMS surface was formed by UV/Ozone. The results of this study not only improve the understanding of the mechanism of wrinkle structure formation on the PDMS surface by UV/Ozone treatment, but also can be used as a basic study to adjust the amplitude and period of the wrinkle structure according to UV/Ozone irradiation conditions in the future.contact angles and the surface energies of FSAMs, it was confirmed that pretilt angles of LC molecules increased according to the alkyl chain length. High optical transparency and uniform homeotropic LC alignment characteristics of FSAMs showed the possibility of FSAMs as an LC alignment layers.

If you don't regularly go to the dentist to check your teeth, it is difficult to notice cavities or various diseases of your teeth until you have pain or discomfort. Dental plaque is produced by the combination of food or foreign substances and bacteria in the mouth. Starch breaks down from the bacteria that form tartar. The acid that occurs at this time melts the enamel of the teeth and becomes a cavity. So tartar management is important. Poppyrin, the metabolism of bacteria in the mouth, reacts at 405 nm wavelengths and becomes red fluorescent, which can be seen by imaging through certain wavelength filters. By the above method, Frag and tartar are fluorescently detected and photographed with a yellow series of filters that pass wavelengths of 500 nm or more. It uses MATLAB to detect and display red fluorescence through image processing. Using the difference in voltage between normal teeth and tartar through an optical measuring circuit, it was connected to an Arduino and displayed on the LCD. This allows the user to know the presence and location of dental plaque more accurately.
