  • Encrypted images obtained through double random phase-encoding (DRPE) occupy considerable storage space. We propose efficient compression schemes to reduce the size of the encrypted data. In the proposed schemes, two state-of-art compression methods of JPEG and JP2K are applied to the quantized encrypted phase images obtained by combining the DRPE algorithm with the virtual photon counting imaging technique. We compute the nonlinear cross-correlation between the registered reference images and the compressed input images to verify the performance of the compression of double random phase-encoded images. We show quantitatively through experiments that considerable compression of the encrypted image data can be achieved while security and authentication factors are completely preserved.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved image encryption and decryption method using a virtual image and a joint transform correlator (JTC). The encrypted image is obtained by the Fourier transform of the product of a virtual-phase image and a random-phase image, and a Fourier transform of the decrypting key generated by the proposed phase assignment rule is used as the Fourier decrypting key. Based on the solution, the original image is reconstructed using JTC in the frequency-domain. The proposed method using a virtual image, which does not contain any information from the original image, prevents the possibility of counterfeiting by unauthorized people. And also the auto-correlation terms, which are the drawback of a JTC system, contribute to reconstructing the original image rather than to disturbing its identification. But because phase-only encryptions are sensitive to noise and scratches, phase errors can be generated in fabricating the encrypted image or the Fourier decrypting key so the errors that are responsible for degradation of the quality of the reconstructed image are analyzed and the solution is demonstrated. Computer simulations show the solution, and the proposed method is very useful for JTC architecture.

  • A novel, chaotic map that is based on concatenated torus automorphisms is proposed in this paper. As we know, cat map, which is based on torus automorphism, is highly chaotic and is often used to encrypt information. But cat map is periodic, which decreases the security of the cryptosystem. In this paper, we propose a novel chaotic map that concatenates several torus automorphisms. The concatenated mechanism provides stronger chaos and larger key space for the cryptosystem. It is proven that the period of the concatenated torus automorphisms is the total sum of each one's period. By this means, the period of the novel automorphism is increased extremely. Based on the novel, concatenated torus automorphisms, two application schemes in image encryption are proposed, i.e., 2D and 3D concatenated chaotic maps. In these schemes, both the scrambling matrices and the iteration numbers act as secret keys. Security analysis shows that the proposed, concatenated, chaotic maps have strong chaos and they are very sensitive to the secret keys. By means of concatenating several torus automorphisms, the key space of the proposed cryptosystem can be expanded to $2^{135}$. The diffusion function in the proposed scheme changes the gray values of the transferred pixels, which makes the periodicity of the concatenated torus automorphisms disappeared. Therefore, the proposed cryptosystem has high security and they can resist the brute-force attacks and the differential attacks efficiently. The diffusing speed of the proposed scheme is higher, and the computational complexity is lower, compared with the existing methods.

  • In this paper characteristics of ATM-PON is described and a TC layer controller for ATM-PON OLT is designed. This paper proposes an algorithm of economically controlling the grant information written by CPU to dynamically allocate the upstream bandwidth on the PON among the ONUs in a fair way and of encrypting the downstream data using a lower standard of encryption, termed data churning, which is used to distinguish it from existing transmission system scramblers and higher layer encryption methods. This paper also proposes a method of allocating churning-related message into the PLOAM cell in order to synchronously change the churning key between the OLT and the ONU.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved image encryption and the shift-tolerance method in the Fourier space using a virtual phase image. The encrypted image is obtained by the Fourier transform of the product of a phase-encoded virtual image, not an original image, and a random phase image. Therefore, even if unauthorized users analyze the encrypted image, we can prevent the possibility of counterfeiting from unauthorized people using virtual image which dose not contain any information from the original image. The decryption technique is simply performed by inverse Fourier transform of the interference pattern between the encrypted image and the Fourier decrypting key, made of proposed phase assignment rule, in frequency domain. We demonstrate the robustness to noise, to data loss and shift of the encrypted image or the Fourier decryption key in the proposed technique.

  • In this paper, we propose a new optical thresold generator as a key-stream genrator for stream cipher systems. The random key-bit stream is generated by a digital generator that is composed of LFSRs and nonlinear ligics. Digital implementatin of a key-stream generator requires large memory to implement programmable tapping points. This memory problem may be overcome easily by using the proposed optical system which has the proberty of 2D parallel processing. To implement hte threshold generator optically, we use conventional twisted nematic type SLMs (LCDs). This proposed system is based on the shadow casting technique for the AND operation between taps and sregister stages. It is also based on the proposed PMRS method for modulo 2 addition. The proposed PMRS method uses the property of light's polarization on LCD and can be implemented optically using one LCD and some mirrors. One of the major advantages of the proosed system is that there is no limitation of the number of the progarmmable tapping points. Therefore, the proposed system can be applied for the 2D encryption system which processes large amounts of data such as 2D images. We verify the proposed system with some simulation.

  • In this paper, we propose the shift and noise tolerance method using a virtual phase image and a joint transform correlator (JTC) architecture that can alleviate the need for an accurate optical axis alignment. An encrypted image is obtained by the Fourier transform of the product of a phase- encoded virtual image to camouflage the original one and a random phase image. Therefore, even if unauthorized users analyze the encrypted image, we can prevent the possibility of counterfeiting from unauthorized people using virtual image which dose not contain any information from the original image. We demonstrate the robustness to noise, to data loss and to shift of the encrypted image using a JTC in the proposed description technique.

  • Blockchain technology provides a decentralized and peer-to-peer network, which has the advantages of transparency and immutability. In this paper, a novel secure authentication scheme applying digital holography to blockchain technology is proposed to protect privacy information in network nodes. The transactional information of the node is chained permanently and immutably in the blockchain to ensure network security. By designing a novel two-dimensional (2D) array data structure of the block, a proof of work (PoW) in the blockchain is executed through digital holography technology to verify true authentication and legal block linkage. A hash generated from the proposed algorithm reveals a random number of 2D array data. The real identity of each node in the network cannot be forged by a hacker's tampering because the privacy information of the node is encrypted using digital holography and stored in the blockchain. The reliability and feasibility of the proposed scheme are analyzed with the help of the research results, which evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Forgery by a malicious node is impossible with the proposed method by rejecting a tampered transaction. The principal application is a secure anonymity system guaranteeing privacy information protection for handling of large information.

  • In this paper, an encryption method to share a secret binary image is proposed. It divides the image to be encrypted into an arbitrary number of images and encrypts them using XOR process with different binary random images which was prepared by the means of the XOR process, too. Each encrypted slice image can be distributed to the authenticated ones. However, we transfer the encrypted images to the binary phase masks to strengthen the security power, that means phase masks can not be copied with general light-intensity sensitive tools such as CCDs or cameras. For decryption, we used the Mach-Zehnder interferometer in which linearly polarized two light beams in orthogonal direction, respectively. The experimental result proved the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a new method for a visual cryptography scheme that uses phase masks and an interferometer. To encrypt a binary image, we divided it into an arbitrary number of slides and encrypted them using an XOR process with a random key or keys. The phase mask for each encrypted image was fabricated nuder the proposed phase-assignment rule. For decryption, phase masks were placed on any path of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Through optical experiments, we confirmed that a secret binary image that was sliced could be recovered by the proposed method.
