We estimate atmospheric radiative heating effect of aerosols, based on AErosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET) and lidar observations and radiative transfer calculations. The column radiation model (CRM) is modified to ingest the AERONET measured variables (aerosol optical depth, single scattering albedo, and asymmetric parameter) and subsequently calculate the optical parameters at the 19 bands from the data obtained at four wavelengths. The aerosol radiative forcing at the surface and the top of the atmosphere, and atmospheric absorption on pollution (April 15, 2001) and dust (April 17~18, 2001) days are 3~4 times greater than those on clear-sky days (April 14 and 16, 2001). The atmospheric radiative heating rate (${\Delta}H$) and heating rate by aerosols (${\Delta}H_{aerosol}$) are estimated to be about $3\;K\;day^{-1}$ and $1{\sim}3\;K\;day^{-1}$ for pollution and dust aerosol layers. The sensitivity test showed that a 10% uncertainty in the single scattering albedo results in 30% uncertainties in aerosol radiative forcing at the surface and at the top of the atmosphere and 60% uncertainties in atmospheric forcing, thereby translated to about 35% uncertainties in ${\Delta}H$. This result suggests that atmospheric radiative heating is largely determined by the amount of light-absorbing aerosols.

To evaluate the kinetic energy of the raindrops, the drop size distribution and the terminal velocity of the raindrops had been measured from January to September 2010 using the laser-optical disdrometer in KIGAM, Daejeon, Korea. The relationship between kinetic energy (KE) and rainfall intensity (I) was computed as logarithmic and exponential model, respectively, under the rainfall intensity of about 142mm/h. The exponential model is more suitable for the relationship of KE-I than the logarithmic model, because the exponential model presented better fit for KE over 50mm/h of rainfall intensity. Meanwhile, the differences of the total kinetic energy existed in rainfall events with almost same total rainfall depth, and KE values of Daejeon at high rainfall intensity underestimated rather than the others under temperate climate. Therefore, these differences of KE in rainfall events and geographical regions imply the result from the variations of rainfall intensity within a rainfall event.
To examine the detectability of the aerosol and/or Yellow dust from China crossing over the Yellow sea, three works carried out as follows , Firstly, a comparison was made of the visible(VIS), water vapor(WV), and Infrared(IR) images of the GMS-5 and NOAA/AVHRR on the cases of yellow sand event over Korea. Secondly, the spectral radiance and reflectance(%) was observed during the yellow sand phenomena on April, 1998 in Seoul using the GER-2600 spectroradiometer, which observed the reflected radiance from 350 to 2500 nm in the atmosphere. We selected the optimum wavelength for detecting of the yellow sand from this observation, considering the effects of atmospheric absorption. Finally, the atmospheric radiance emerging from the LOWTRAN-7 radiative transfer model was simulated with and without yellow sand, where we used the estimated aerosol column optical depth ($\tau$ 673 nm) in the Meteorological Research Institute and the d'Almeida's statistical atmospheric aerosol radiative characteristics. The image analysis showed that it was very difficult to detect the yellow sand region only by the image processing because the albedo characteristics of the sand vary irregularly according to the density, size, components and depth of the yellow sand clouds. We found that the 670-680 nm band was useful to simulate aerosol characteristics considering the absorption band from the radiance observation. We are now processing the simulation of atmospheric radiance distribution in the range of 400-900 nm. The purpose of this study is to present the preliminary results of the aerosol and/or Yellow dust detectability using the Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager(OSMI), which will be mounted on KOMPSAT-1 as the ocean color monitoring sensor with the range of 400-900 nm wavelength.

The influences of Methotrexate as fluorophor, scatterer, absorber in turbid material by light scattering were interpreted for the scattered fluorescence intensity and wavelength, it has been studied the molecular properties by laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy. It has been found that the effects of optical properties in scattering media by the optical parameters((${\mu}_s$, ${\mu}_a$, ${\mu}_t$). The value of scattering coefficient ${\mu}_s$ is large by means of the increasing particles of L-${\alpha}$-Phosphatidylcholine, it has been found that the slope decays exponentially as a function of depth from laser source to detector. It may also aid in designing the best model for oil chemistry, laser medicine and application of medical engineering.

With the help of the development of digital-multimedia in the middle of 1990's, FDP(Flat Panel Display) had attracted considerable attention. Collimation proximity exposure system that transfers the pattern on wafer or glass exactly using mask and light with appropriate wavelength is core process in semiconductor and liquid display element. The performances of resolution required in precision exposure system are evaluated by resolving power, depth of focus and storage area. Most of development has targeted on these three factors. The optical design including lamp house has played an important role on the performance of exposure process. In this study, we evaluate the cooling system, concerning on exposure device with mercury lamp among the kernel equipment for the production of LCD, to prevent the instability of lighting due to long term accumulation of excessive heating inside the lamp house. Numerical analysis is conducted on full-scale model. The characteristics of three-dimensional flow, pressure and temperature distribution on exposure system are graphically depicted to estimate the whole cooling system for lamp house and to establish the design criteria.
Infrared emissions from spherical dust, clouds are calculated using quasi-diffusion method. We have employed graphite-silicate mixture with power-law size distribution for the dust model. The grains are assumed to be heated and cooled by radiative processes only. The primary heating source is diffuse interstellar radiation field. hut the cases with an embedded source are also considered. Since graphite grains have higher temperature than silicate grains, the observed IR emission is mainly due to graphite grains, unless the fraction of graphite grains is negligibly small. The color temperature of Bok globules obtained from IRAS 60 and $100{\mu}m$ data are found to be consistent with the dust cloud with graphite-silicate mixture exposed to average interstellar radiation field. The color temperature is sensitive to the external radiation field, but rather insensitive to the size distribution of the grains. We found that the density distribution can be recovered outside the beam size using the inversion technique that assumes negligible optical depth. However, the information within the beam size is lost for if beam convolved intensity distributions are used in deriving density profile.
We compare the results of the surveys of starless cores performed with CS (2-1) and (3-2) lines to study inward motions in the cores. The velocity shifts of the CS(3-2) and (2-1) lines with respect to $N_2H^+$ are found to correlate well with each other and to have similar number distributions, implying that, in many cores, systematic inward motions of gaseous material may occur over a range of density of at least a factor ${\~}$4. Fits of the CS spectra to a 2-layer radiative transfer model in ten infall candidates suggest that the median effective line-of-sight speed of the inward-moving gas is ${\~}0.07 km\;s^{-l}$ for CS (3-2) and ${\~} 0.04 km\;s^{-l}$ for CS(2-1). Considering that the optical depth obtained from the fits is usually smaller in CS(3-2) than in (2-1) line, this may indicate that CS(3-2) usually traces inner, denser gas with greater inward motions than CS(2-1) implying that many of the infall candidates have faster infall toward the center. However, this conclusion may not be representative of all starless core infall candidates, due to the statistically small number analyzed here. Further line observations will be useful to test this conclusion.

We present a progress report on HCN(1-0) line observations toward starless cores to probe inward motions. We have made a single pointing survey toward the central regions of 85 starless cores and performed mapping observations of 6 infall candidate starless cores. The distributions of the velocity difference between HCN(1-0) hyperfine lines and the optically thin tracer $N_2H^+$(1-0) are significantly skewed to the blue, meaning that HCN(1-0) frequently detects inward motions. Their skewness to the blue is even greater than that of CS(2-1) Lee et al., possibly implying more infall occurrence than CS(1-0). We identify 19 infall candidates by using several characteristics illustrating spectral infall asymmetry seen in HCN(1-0) hyperfine lines, CS(3-2), CS(2-1), $DCO^+(2-1)$ and $N_2H^+$ observations. The HCN(1-0) F(O-l) with the least optical depth usually shows a similar intensity distribution to that of $N_2H^+$ which closely traces the density distribution of the cores, indicating that HCN(1-0) is less chemically affected and so believed to reflect kinematics occurring in rather inner regions of the cores. Detailed radiative transfer model fits of the spectra are underway to analyze central infall kinematics in starless cores.
Recent discoveries of ferroelectric properties in ultrathin doped hafnium oxide (HfO2) have led to the expectation that HfO2 could overcome the shortcomings of perovskite materials and be applied to electron devices such as Fe-Random access memory (RAM), ferroelectric tunnel junction (FTJ) and negative capacitance field effect transistor (NC-FET) device. As research on hafnium oxide ferroelectrics accelerates, several models to analyze the polarization switching characteristics of hafnium oxide ferroelectrics have been proposed from the domain or energy point of view. However, there is still a lack of in-depth consideration of models that can fully express the polarization switching properties of ferroelectrics. In this paper, a Zr-doped HfO2 thin film based metal-ferroelectric-metal (MFM) capacitor was implemented and the polarization switching dynamics, along with the ferroelectric characteristics, of the device were analyzed. In addition, a study was conducted to propose an applicable model of HfO2-based MFM capacitors by applying various ferroelectric switching characteristics models.

In this study, Simplified Method for the Atmospheric Correction (SMAC) radiative transfer model (RTM) used to retrieve surface reflectance from MODIS Top Of Atmosphere (TOA) reflectance (MOD02). SMAC code provides coefficients which were previously yielded by Second Simulation of the Satellite Signal in the Solar Spectrum (6S) for each satellite sensor. We conducted error analysis of SMAC RTM using MOD02 over comparison with MODIS surface reflectance (MOD09) which was provided from 6S. It showed that low accuracy values such as, $R^2$ : 0.6196, Root Means Square Error (RMSE) : 0.00031, bias : - 0.0859. Thus sensitivity analysis of input parameters and coefficients was conducted to searching error sources. Coefficients about $\tau_p$ (average AOD) are more influence than any other coefficients of $\tau_{a550}$ (Aerosol Optical Depth at 550nm) from sensitivity test. Calibrated coefficients of $\tau_p$ from regression analysis were used to surface reflectance which showed that improve accuracy of surface reflectance ($R^2$ : 0.827, RMSE : 0.00672, bias : - 0.000762).
