Neural network based models were developed and evaluated for predicting corn yield from aerial images based on 1998 and 1994 image data. The model used images in multi-spectral bands such as R, G, B, and IR (Red, Green, Blue and Infrared). The inputs to the neural network consisted of mean and standard deviation of multispectral bands of the aerial images. Performances of several neural network architectures using back-propagation with momentum were compared. The maximum yield prediction accuracy obtained was 97.81%. The BPNN model prediction accuracy could be enhanced by using more number of observations to the model, other data transformation techniques, or by performing optical calibration of the aerial image.

As the advanced packaging technology developing, Copper electro-plating processing has be wildly utilized in the semiconductor interconnect technique. Chemical solution monitoring methods, including PH and gravity measurement exist in industry, but economical and practical real-time monitoring has not been achieved yet. Red-green-blue (RGB) color sensor can successfully monitor the condition of $CuSO_4$ solution during electric copper plating process. Comparing the intensity variations of the RGB data and optical spectroscopy data, strong correlation between two in-situ sensors have shown.
This paper describes the designed and fabricated thermal imaging system with the SPRITE(Signal PRocessing in The Element) detector, operating in the 3-12 micron band. This system consists of an afocal telescope, a scan unit containing the SPRITE detector, an electronic processor unit and a cooler. The optical scan system utilizing rotating polygon and oscillating mirror, is 2-dimensional serial/parallel scan type using five elements of the detector. And the electronic processor unit performs digital scan conversion to reform the parallel data stream into serial analog data compatable with conventional RS-170 video. The scan field of view is 40 ${\times}$ 26.7 and the MRTD(Minium Resolvable Temperature Difference) is 0.6 K at 7.5 cycles/mm. The acquired thermal image indicates that this system has a satisfactory performance.
In this paper, we present an interpolation schema for image resolution enhancement using fuzzy logic. Proposed algorithm can recover both low and high frequency information in image data. In general, interpolation techniques are based on linear operators which are essentially details in the original image. In our fuzzy approach, the operator itself balances the strength of its sharpening and noise suppressing components according to the properties of the input image data. The proposed interpolation algorithm is performed in three step. First logic reasoning is applied to coarsely interpret the high frequency information. These results are combined to obtain the optical output. Using our approach, resolution of the original image can be applied to various kind of image processing topics such as image enhancement, subpixel edge detection, and filtering.

With the development of multimedia and optical technologies, application systems with facial features hare been increased the interests of researchers, recently. The previous research efforts in face processing mainly use the frontal images in order to recognize human face visually and to extract the facial expression. However, applications, such as image database systems which support queries based on the facial direction and image arrangement systems which place facial images automatically on digital albums, deal with the directional characteristics of a face. In this paper, we propose a method to detect facial directions by using facial features. In the proposed method, the facial trapezoid is defined by detecting points for eyes and a lower lip. Then, the facial direction formula, which calculates the right and left facial direction, is defined by the statistical data about the ratio of the right and left area in facial trapezoids. The proposed method can give an accurate estimate of horizontal rotation of a face within an error tolerance of $\pm1.31$ degree and takes an average execution time of 3.16 sec.
The most widespread techniques for DEM generation are stereoscopy for optical sensor images and interfereometry for SAR images. These techniques suffer from certain sensor and processing limitations, which can be overcome by the synergetic use of both sensors and DEMs respectively. In this paper, different strategies for fusing SAR and optical data are combined to derive high quality DEM products. The multiresolution wavelet transform, which take advantage of the complementary properties of SAR and stereo optical DEMs, will be applied for the fusion process. By taking advantage of the fact that errors of the DEMs are of different nature using the multiresolution wavelet transform, affected part are filtered and replaced by those of the counterpart and is tested with two sets of SPOT and ERS DEM, resulting in a remarkable improvement in DEM. For the analysis of results, the reference DEM is generated from digital base map(1:5000).
Submarine optical fiber cable construction consists of marine survey, PLGR(Pre Lay Grapnel Run), shore-end-work, laying the submarine optical cable. This PLGR is work to ease the cable lay safely in seabed, improve the performance of Plough and ROV (Remotely-Operated Vehicle) laying work, and protect laying equipment. This paper presents the design and implementation of real-time monitoring system for PLGR work in submarine optical fiber cable construction enterprise. In this paper, we designe overall real-time monitoring system. For this purpose, the modules such as serial multiport communication module, real-time processing module, environment configuration module, real-time graph and a printout modules are designed and implemented. For the validity evaluation of this paper, serial multi port communication module, data parsing, realtime graph output are implemented and tested.
Optical burst switching (OBS) overcomes the inefficient resource usage of optical circuit switching and minimizes the optical buffering requirement of optical packet switching. General switch management protocol (GSMP) is an open interface between a label switch and a controller, and it provides connection, configuration, performance, event management and synchronization. GSMP open interface in the OBS network allows the implementation of OBS switch to be simple by separating the data forward plane from the control plane. We defined managed objects to support connection, configuration, performance, and fault management for the management of OBS network in the GSMP open interface. We proposed the network management model, in which the above managed objects are distributed in a controller and an OBS switch according to network management functions. We verified the possibility of connection management using distributed network management model in the GSMP open interface of OBS network by implementing GSMP and network management functions with managed objects of OBS.

The PMU (Payload Management Unit) is the main subsystem for the management, control and power supply of the MSC (Multi-Spectral Camera) Payload operation. It is the most important function for the electro-optical camera system that performs the Non-Uniformity Correction (NUC) function of the raw imagery data, rearranges the data from the CCD (Charge Coupled Device) detector and output it to the Data Compression and Storage Unit (DCSU). The NUC board in PMU performs it. In this paper, the NUC board system is described in terms of the configuration and the function, the efficiency for non-uniformity correction, and the influence of the data compression upon the peculiar feature of the CCD pixel. The NUC board is an image-processing unit within the PMU that receives video data from the CEV (Camera Electronic Unit) boards via a hotlinkand performs non-uniformity corrections upon the pixels according to commands received from the SBC (Single Board Computer) in the PMU. The lossy compression in DCSU needs the NUC in on-orbit condition.
The development and application of a high-resolution soil moisture mapping method using satellite imagery has been considered one of the major research themes in remote sensing. In this study, soil moisture mapping in the test area of Jeju Island was performed. The soil moisture was calculated with optical images using linearly adjusted Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) polarization images and incident angle. SAR Backscatter data, Analysis Ready Data (ARD) provided by Google Earth Engine (GEE), was used. In the soil moisture processing process, the optical image was applied to normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) by surface reflectance of KOMPSAT-3 satellite images and the land cover map of Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). When the SAR image and the optical images are fused, the reliability of the soil moisture product can be improved. To validate the soil moisture mapping product, a comparative analysis was conducted with normalized difference water index (NDWI) products by the KOMPSAT-3 image and those of the Landsat-8 satellite. As a result, it was shown that the soil moisture map and NDWI of the study area were slightly negative correlated, whereas NDWI using the KOMPSAT-3 images and the Landsat-8 satellite showed a highly correlated trend. Finally, it will be possible to produce precise soil moisture using KOMPSAT optical images and KOMPSAT SAR images without other external remotely sensed images, if the soil moisture calculation algorithm used in this study is further developed for the KOMPSAT-5 image.
