회절 격자 표식을 이용한 6자유도 측정 시스템의 광학적 오차 해석 및 보상 (Optical Error Analysis and Compensation of Six Degrees of Freedom Measurement System Using a Diffraction Grating Target)

  • Six degrees of freedom measurement systems are required in many fields: Precision machine control. precision assembly, vibration analysis, and so on. This paper presents a new six degrees of freedom measurement system utilizing typical features of a diffraction grating. It is composed of a laser source, three position sensitive detectors, a diffraction grating target, and several optical components. Six degrees of freedom displacement is calculated kinematically from the coordinates of diffracted rays on the detectors. Optical measurement error was caused by the fact that a laser source had a Gaussian intensity distribution. This error was analyzed and compensated using simple equations. The performance of the compensation equation was verified in the experiment. The experimental results showed that the compensation equation could reduce the optical measurement error remarkably and the error in six degrees of freedom measurement less than $\pm$10$\mu$m for translation and $\pm$0.012$^{\circ}$for rotation.

광 펄스 주파수 첩과 Kerr 효과의 상호 관계가 장거리 광 전송을 위한 MSSI 보상 기법에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analysis of the Influence of Mutual Relation of Optical Pulse Frequency Chirp and Kerr Effect on the Mid-Span Spectral Inversion Methods for the Long-Haul Optical Transmission)

  • 송신 전력이 비교적 높은 5 dBm인 광 펄스를 최적 펌프 전력 조건 하에서의 MSSI(Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) 보상 기법을 통해 전송할 때 다양한 주파수 첩(chirp)을 갖는 광 펄스의 전송 거리가 어느 정도 개선되는지를 다양한 전송 속도와 분산 계수에 따라 살펴보았고, 광 펄스의 주파수 첩과 Kerr효과에 의한 위상 변화의 상호 관계가 다양한 비트율에서의 광섬유 분산 계수 변화에 따라 MSSI 보상에 어떠한 영향을 주는 지를 시뮬레이션을 통해 분석해 보았다. 우선 광 펄스가 광섬유를 전파하면서 겪게 되는 자기 위상 변조에 의한 위상 변화가 광 변조 과정에서 인가된 광 펄스의 초기 첩에 의한 위상 변화와 어우러져 상쇄되는 정도가 광섬유의 분산 계수 값에 따라 달라지게 되어 MSSI 기법을 통해 광 펄스가 보상되는 정도에도 변화가 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 동일한 보상 특성을 얻을 수 있는 비트율에 따른 분산 천이 광섬유의 분산 계수 값은 전송비트율 증가 비율을 k라고 하면 2$^{k}$ 의 관계로 줄어들어야 하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 분산 제어 (DM; dispersion management)와 광 위상 공액 기술이 결합된 전송 링크의 융통적 구성을 위해 중계 구간 당 잉여 분산(RDPS; residual dispersion per span)이 랜덤하게 분포하는 링크에서 RDPS 편차에 따른 WDM 채널의 보상 특성을 살펴보았다. 또한 허용 가능 NRD (net residual dispersion) 관점에서 RDPS 편차에 따른 링크 설계 기준도 제시하였다. RDPS 편차가 적을수록 WDM 채널 보상 효과가 우수하다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 특정 눈 열림 패널티 (EOP; eye opening penalty)를 얻을 수 있는 허용 가능 NRD가 RDPS 편차에 비례하여 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구 결과는 융통적인 장거리 광전송 링크 설계에 참고 자료가 될 것으로 기대한다.

A Quick Hybrid Atmospheric-interference Compensation Method in a WFS-less Free-space Optical Communication System

  • In wave-front-sensor-less adaptive optics (WFS-less AO) systems, the Jacopo Antonello (JA) method belongs to the model-based class and requires few iterations to achieve acceptable distortion correction. However, this method needs a lot of measurements, especially when it deals with moderate or severe aberration, which is undesired in free-space optical communication (FSOC). On the contrary, the stochastic parallel gradient descent (SPGD) algorithm only requires three time measurements in each iteration, and is widely applied in WFS-less AO systems, even though plenty of iterations are necessary. For better and faster compensation, we propose a WFS-less hybrid approach, borrowing from the JA method to compensate for low-order wave front and from the SPGD algorithm to compensate for residual low-order wave front and high-order wave front. The correction results for this proposed method are provided by simulations to show its superior performance, through comparison of both the Strehl ratio and the convergence speed of the WFS-less hybrid approach to those of the JA method and SPGD algorithm.

  • We investigated the improvement of viewing angle using a patterned double twisted (PDT) vertical-alignment (VA) cell mode on a homeotropic alignment layer. Good voltage-transmittance curves for negative dielectric anisotropic nematic liquid crystal (NLC) using the PDT-VA cell without a negative compensation film were obtained. The viewing angle of the PDT-VA cell without a negative compensation film was wider than that of a conventional VA cell.

40 Gbps RZ Transmission Using Dispersion Compensation of Single-Span in Optical Transmission Links with Multi-Span of Single Mode Fiber

  • In dispersion management (DM) and optical phase conjugation applied into optical transmission links with multi fiber spans for minimizing the impact of nonlinearity and group velocity (GVD), implementation possibility of DM using only one fiber span for pre- or postcompensation was assessed as a function of duty cycle of RZ pulse and residual dispersion per span (RDPS). It is confirmed that DM with optimal net residual dispersion (NRD) controlled by only one fiber span could be sufficiently applied into optical transmission links, though optimal NRD is more increased than that in transmission links with the general DM scheme of pre- and postcompensation. Thus, it is expected that optical transmission system is simply designed and implemented by applying the proposed DM scheme into real optical transmission links. Also, it is confirmed that the advantageous duty cycle of RZ is 0.5 and RDPS is setting to be small value for the effective transmitting wide signal wavelength range in optical links with optimal NRD controlled by only one fiber span.

  • 본 논문에서는 고차 편광모드분산(PMD: polarization-mode dispersion)을 효과적으로 보상하기 위한 방법으로, DOP (degree of polarization)를 1차 PMD 보상을 위한 피드백 신호와 고차 PMD 보상을 위한 feed forward 신호로 사용하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 1차 보상이 끝난 후의 DOP값이 남아있는 고차 PMD의 정도를 나타내는 척도로써 인식하여 고차 PMD를 보상하는 시스템이 되겠다. 이러한 시스템은 고차 보상기의 자유도를 1차 보상기의 자유도로 제한하기 때문에 안정적이고 비교적 간단하게 구성할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 제안된 알고리즘의 성능을 분석하기 위하여 10Gbps NRZ시스템의 전송 모의 실험을 수행하였으며, 그 결과 시스템 다운 시간인 outage probability가 약 세 배 가량 감소되는 것을 확인하였다.

Ego-Motion 보정기법을 적용한 쿼드로터의 화재 감지 알고리즘 (Fire Detection Algorithm for a Quad-rotor using Ego-motion Compensation)

  • A conventional fire detection has been developed based on images captured from a fixed camera. However, It is difficult to apply current algorithms to a flying Quad-rotor to detect fire. To solve this problem, we propose that the fire detection algorithm can be modified for Quad-rotor using Ego-motion compensation. The proposed fire detection algorithm consists of color detection, motion detection, and fire determination using a randomness test. Color detection and randomness test are adapted similarly from an existing algorithm. However, Ego-motion compensation is adapted on motion detection for compensating the degree of Quad-rotor's motion using Planar Projective Transformation based on Optical Flow, RANSAC Algorithm, and Homography. By adapting Ego-motion compensation on the motion detection step, it has been proven that the proposed algorithm has been able to detect fires 83% of the time in hovering mode.

  • The manual modification of stamping die has widely been used in order to reduce springback after sheet metal forming. When UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel) is used in sheet metal forming, the die design considering springback compensation is more difficult because higher strength sheet has more springback. In this study, the optimization method was used in order to design die geometry considering springback compensation after forming of 1.2GPa UHSS. Die geometries were defined as design variables and the springback distance from the die surface was conducted as object function in optimization process. The optimized die geometry considering springback compensation was performed using finite element and optimization analysis. The simulation results such as thickness distribution and springback amount were compared with measured data using 3D optical measurement system (GOM ARGUS, ATOS). And the prediction of springback amount showed a good agreement within test results.
