Design and Fabrication of Variable Optical Signal Delay Line Based on Polymer Coupled Ring Resonators (폴리머 결합 링 공진기 기반 가변 광신호 지연기의 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, a variable optical signal delay line based on coupled ring resonators is designed and fabricated in high-index contrast polymer material. The free spectral ranges (FSR) of the rings are designed to be 100 GHz, and 8 coupled rings are used. When two rings near a bus waveguide are in resonance, the optical delay is measured to be about 100 ps. When four rings are in resonance, the measured delay is about 180 ps. Both are close to the theoretical calculations.

  • In this paper, authors deal with an application of power quality monitoring using the Sampled Value which is described in the IEC61850 International Standard for substation communication. Firstly, while Merging Unit is designed as a process level device transmitting sensor data, the practical problems such as time delay compensation and optical fiber communication are issued. Secondly, the Sampled Value message which is proper to a power quality monitoring system is presented. Because the power quality monitoring system requests non time critical service comparing to protection and control applications, the Sampled Value service message structure is introduced to improve efficiency. At last, the power quality monitoring server having various power quality analysis functions is suggested to verify the performance of Merging Unit. With the diverse experiments, it is proved that the process bus distributed solution is flexible and economic for the power quality monitoring.

  • The purpose of this study is to implement a landscape lighting system that displays full color video by precisely controlling the R, G, B (Red, Green, Blue) LEDs which have a resolution of 256 each. The system implemented in this study consists of a PC, MASTER, SLAVEs and MODULEs. The PC sets the various landscape lighting displays, and the image files can be sent to the MASTER through a virtual serial port connected to the USB (Universal Serial Bus). The MASTER sends a sync signal to the SLAVE. The SLAVE uses the signal received from the MASTER and the landscape lighting display pattern.

  • 최근 인터넷 트래픽의 증가와 음성, 데이터, 동영상과 같은 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스의 영향으로 가입자망의 고속화가 요구되고 있다. 인터넷 트래픽을 효율적으로 가입자에게 제공하기 위해서는 광을 이용한 통신이 이루어져야 한다. 이를 위하여 다양한 기술들이 제시되고 있으며, 경제적인 측면과 구성의 용이성을 고려한 광 가입자망인 PON(Passive Optical Network)에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 파장 분할 다중화 방식으로 단심 상하향 동일파장을 사용하여 소요되는 광섬유의 비용을 반으로 줄이고, 채널당 전송용량을 두 배로 높일 수 있는 매트로 이더넷용 단심 양방향 버스형 WDM-EPON 시스템에 대한 연구를 하고자 한다.   • A variety of systems have been attempted for effective urban management. In this paper, we introduce integrated urban management system (IUMS), which mainly consists of optical line terminal (OLT), optical network terminal (ONTs) and wireless access points (APs), by combining passive optical network (PON) and radio over fiber (RoF) technologies so as to take advantages of both two systems. Further, several IUMS services including disaster detection and prevention system (DDPS), bus information system (BIS) and real time location system (RTLS) are demonstrated in order to employ IUMS for the realization of future ubiquitous city (U-city).

  • 본 논문은 현재 교환시스템의 시스템 랙(rack)간 전송에 사용되는 전기적 신호전송 매체의 한계인 155Mbps 또는 250Mbps에서 15m의 전송거리라는 제약을 극복하고 또한 기존의 단순 동기식 전송방식(1:1)에서 탈피하여 다중/역다중 접속방식(16:1)을 채택하여 고밀도, 저가격, 다중화/역다중화 기능을 포함하는 광송수신 모듈을 개발한 내용을 기술하고 있다. 본 기술은 155Mbps 16채널의 전기적 신호를 2.5Gbps 광신호로 변환하여 양방향으로 전송할 수 있는 Twin-ax/Optical Bus Access Module 개발에 관한 것이다.

TELEMETRY TIMING ANALYSIS FOR IMAGE RECONSTRUCTION OF KOMPSAT SPACECRAFT

  • The KOMPSAT(Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) has two optical imaging instruments called EOC(Electro-Optical Camera) and OSMI (Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager). The image data of these instruments are transmitted to ground station and restored correctly after post-processing with the telemetry data transfeered from KOMPSAT spacecraft. The major timing information of the KOMPSAT is OBT (On-Board Time) which is formatted by the on-board computer of the spacecraft, based on 1Hz sync. pulse coming from the GPS receiver involved. The OBT is transmitted to ground station with the house-keeping telemetry data of the spacecraft while it is distributed to the instruments via 1553B data bus for synchronization during imaging and formatting. The timing information contained in the spacecraft telemetry data would have direct relation to the image data of the instruments, which should be well explained to get a more accurate image. This paper addresses the timing analysis of the KOMPSAT spacecraft and instruments, including the gyro data timing analysis for the correct restoration of the EOC and OSMI image data at ground station.

  • Newton-OPF proposed by W.F Tinny and his fellows in 1984 is most useful and powerful algorithm in optical power flow calculation. But, several problems prevent its application to practical uses. The problems are determination of active sets, initial values of variables, soft and hard weights, and discrete variables such as transformer taps. In this paper, convergence characteristics of Newton OPF is analyzed with effects of these factors using wide - used 5-bus sample system. Wide - use of results in this paper is appreciated.

  • Mode II interlaminar fracture toughness was measured and fractured surfaces were observed of carbon/epoxy and glass/epoxy woven fabric composites for carbody structure. Woven fabric carbon/epoxy and glass/epoxy composites that made with prepreg and epoxy resin(RS1222) are used in carbody structure of Korean tilting train(TTX) and low floor bus. ENF(End Notched Flexure) specimens having $120mm{\times}20m{\times}5mm$ shape and 35mm initial crack were made with each composites and three point bending tests according to ASTM D790 were conducted for these specimens. Crack lengths in tests were recorded using optical microscope and digital camcorder. NL(Non Linear), 5% offset and Max. load points in load -displacement curves were checked and mode II interlaminar fracture toughness of these points were calculated and compared. Fractured surfaces of specimens were observed using optical microscope and mode II delamination behavior of each composites was discussed.

  • 고정세 PDP에서 방전 cell의 휘도와 효율을 증가시키기 위해서는 cell을 구성하고 있는 layer의 광학 성질과 구조를 고려한 설계가 필요하다. 3-dimensional optical code를 사용한 새로운 접근 방법은 다양한 geometry의 구성, 광학 성질의 적용의 용이함, 정확한 분석 데이터 등의 장점을 활용하여 PDP cell의 구조와 재료 변화에 따른 광 패턴과 조도 ($1m/mm^2$)를 관찰함으로써 향상된 휘도와 효율 특성을 갖는 cell 구조를 설계할 수 있게 된다. 본 논문은 PDP 상판을 구성하는 ITO, bus electrode, dielectric layer의 구조와 광학특성을 변화 시키고, 현재 양산 모델에 적용중인 다양한 상판 구조를 optical code를 활용하여 연산하여 도출된 결과를 비교하였다.
