  • The recent explosion of data traffic, including cloud services, coupled with the Internet penetration has led to a surge in the need for ultra-fast optical networks that can efficiently connect the data center's reconfiguable resources. In this paper, the algorithms for controlling switching cell operation in the optical switch connection structure are proposed, and the resulting performance is compared and analyzed through simulation. Performance analysis results showed that the algorithm proposed in this paper has improved the probability of successful multi-connection setup by about 3 to 7% compared to the existing algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose the novel module-type optical space switch, employing time division multiplexing (TDM) method and multihop structure, in order to enlarge the capacity of the switching system. And we show that the proposed structure is superior over conventional ones, in terms of power loss, the number of the devices used, and signal to crosstalk (SXR). We also analyze the saturation throughput with the number of module M. As a result, the saturation throughput of the switching system with M modules is M+ 1-√(M$^2$+1), when the number of input port in a module (N) is large. Finally, we confirmed the cell loss rate (CLR) performance with the proposed switch through simulation. For example, when p=0.9, M=8 and N=32, to get the CLR that is less than or equal to 10$\^$-6/, the number of input buffers storage unit is greater than or equal to 6 and output buffers storage unit is greater than or equal to 52.

  • A theoretical analysis of the impact of rise time of a Q-switch on the output pulse performance is carried out in an Ytterbium-doped actively Q-switched fiber laser. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used to numerically simulate the Q-switched fiber laser. It is shown that stable Gaussian-like pulse shape can be generated when the Q-switch rise time is increased and pulse repetition rate is enlarged.

  • A switchable single-wideband (SWB)-to-dual-wideband (DWB) bandpass filter (BPF), which is realized by using lumped switches, is presented in this paper. By alternating the operation modes-ON and OFF-in which the ON mode is achieved by placing the capacitors at the switching spots and the OFF mode is achieved by replacing the capacitors with inductors, DWB-to-SWB BPF can be achieved on the same device. In addition, by changing the capacitor values, the center frequency (CF) of the lower passband of DWB BPF can be easily tuned from 1.69 GHz to 2.22 GHz, while the higher passband stays almost unchanged. As an example, an SWB-to-DWB BPF is designed, fabricated, and measured. This BPF exhibits good performance including wideband, high isolation, compact size, and ability to switch.

  • In this paper, we propose a new prioritized Optical Burst Switching (OBS) protocol based on a hop count, which can provide efficient utilization in optical networks. Under several legacy schemes, a switch drops the burst with the shortest time regardless of its traversed hop count. As a result, a dropped burst that have been traversed many hops might cause increased bandwidth waste compared to one that has traversed a few hops. To improve this problem, we propose the Just Enough Time (JET) with a hop counting scheme which can reduce the wasted bandwidth by prioritizing the burst traversed many hops over others. From the simulation result, it is preyed, we show that the proposed scheme has advantages against legacy schemes in terms of the burst blocking probability and the link utilization.

  • In this paper, a new algorithm for contention resolution in optical burst switched network is proposed and simulated. The proposed algorithm is made from the all mixing of wavelength conversion, deflection routing, segmentation, and optical fiber delay line buffering. We analysis the performance of the proposed contention resolution algorithm by using ns-2. The application of the algorithm into Korea backbone network shows the superior performance of a low burst loss probability.

  • We analyze the transmission performance of WDM system based on cascaded optical add/drop multiplexers. The considered factors degrading the performance in this paper include the intra-channel corosstalk caused from space switches and demultiplexers/multiplexers, the amplified spontaneous emission noise, and the extinction ratio. To ensure the power penalty within 1dB, the extinction ration more than 13dB, the switch corosstalk less than 39dB, and the demultiplexer/multiplexer crosstalk less than 20dB are required. Under the assumption of switch corosstalk less than 30dB, performance degradation due to the ASE noise is dominant compared to the crosstalk. With the fixed decision threshold in an optical receiver, the maximum number of cascaded nodes reduces to a half compared to the case of the optimum decision threshold.

  • We proposed and studied an all-optical switching device made of a bent nonlinear waveguide and an all-optical logic gate made of a bent nonlinear Y-junction. The proposed devices as switch and a logic function are based on the evolution of nonlinear guided wave along a bent nonlinear waveguide. Since the characteristics of beam propagation depens on the nonlinearity, input power and bent angle of waveguide, the characteristics of output power transmission is calculated by variation the such parameters. Furthermore, by calculating the output power through the nonlinear media with different positions of detector in nonlinear media, we could find the ideal digital switching performance at specific position of detector and implement several all-optical logic functions (AND, OR, XOR) by power contrast between waveguide end and nonlinear media.

  • The Q-switching the shutter or the different optical science element puts in within the laser light resonator and the storehouse departs from the within the resonator it loses the mortar and the reversal distribution which when is sufficient creates from within the active medium, opens the shutter instantaneously and it is to do to be made to emit with the light where the energy which is accumulated within the resonator is strong very. Like this Q-switching of laser resonator--It decreases factor increasing suddenly to make. To method of Laser Q-switching mechanical switching methods, electro-optic switching methods and switching by saturable absorber methods, acousto-optic switching method etc. 4 kind are being used on a large scale. In these people the conversion which is electric in compliance with the effect which is electrooptics is widely being used the Q-switching pulse of short pulse width because being it will be able to create. Consequently, Pockel cell where it has the quality of electrooptics effect) the Q-it is become known that it is suitable it uses with switch. From the research which it sees FET and one-chip microprocessor where it is a switching element and pulse transfomer to plan and produce pockel cell Q-switch driving gears, pulse style Nd: It applied in YAG Laser system and it investigated and researched the operating characteristic of the Q-switch. Also, the Q-switch leads and Nd where it is output: YAG with forecast in compliance with a theoretical calculation it comes to buy laser beam side politics it compared and laser beam qualities which had become Q-switching it analyzed.
