Purpose : The purpose of this study was to develop a stent-based image guided surgery system and to apply it to oral and maxillofacial surgeries for anatomically complex sites. Materials and Methods : We devised a patient-specific stent for patient-to-image registration and navigation. Three-dimensional positions of the reference probe and the tool probe were tracked by an optical camera system and the relative position of the handpiece drill tip to the reference probe was monitored continuously on the monitor of a PC. Using 8 landmarks for measuring accuracy, the spatial discrepancy between CT image coordinate and physical coordinate was calculated for testing the normality. Results : The accuracy over 8 anatomical landmarks showed an overall mean of $0.56{\pm}0.16\;mm$. The developed system was applied to a surgery for a vertical alveolar bone augmentation in right mandibular posterior area and possible interior alveolar nerve injury case of an impacted third molar. The developed system provided continuous monitoring of invisible anatomical structures during operation and 3D information for operation sites. The clinical challenge showed sufficient accuracy and availability of anatomically complex operation sites. Conclusion : The developed system showed sufficient accuracy and availability in oral and maxillofacial surgeries for anatomically complex sites.
The electrical and optical properties of fluorine-doped tin oxide films grown on polyethylene terephthalate film with a hardness of 3 using electron cyclotron resonance plasma with linear microwave of 2.45 GHz of high ionization energy were investigated. Fluorine-doped tin oxide films with a magnetic field of 875 Gauss and the highest resistance uniformity were obtained. In particular, the magnetic field could be controlled by varying the distribution in electron cyclotron deposition positions. The films were deposited at various gas flow rates of hydrogen and carrier gas of an organometallic source. The surface morphology, electrical resistivity, transmittance, and color in the visible range of the deposited film were examined using SEM, a four-point probe instrument, and a spectrophotometer. The electromagnetic field for electron cyclotron resonance condition was uniformly formed in at a position 16 cm from the center along the Z-axis. The plasma spatial distribution of magnetic current on the roll substrate surface in the film was considerably affected by the electron cyclotron systems. The relative resistance uniformity of electrical properties was obtained in film prepared with a magnetic field in the current range of 180~200A. SEM images showing the surface morphologies of a film deposited on PET with a width of 50 cm revealed that the grains were uniformly distributed with sizes in the range of 2~7 nm. In our experimental range, the electrical resistivity of film was able to observe from $1.0{\times}10^{-2}$ to $1.0{\times}10^{-1}{\Omega}cm$ where optical transmittance at 550 nm was 87~89 %. These properties were depended on the flow rate of the gas, hydrogen and carrier gas of the organometallic source, respectively.

In this study, two fiber-optic sensors were fabricated to measure water level and temperature using optical fibers, a coupler, a Lophine and an OTDR (optical time-domain reflectometer). First, using Fresnel's reflection generated at the distal-ends of each optical fiber, which was installed at different depth, we measured the water level according to the variation of water level. Next, we also measured the temperature of water using a temperature sensing probe based on the Lophine, whose absorbance changes with the temperature. The measurable temperature range of the fiber-optic sensor is from $5^{\circ}C$ to $65^{\circ}C$ because the maximum operation temperature of the optical fiber without a physical deterioration is up to $80^{\circ}C$.

Optical variability is one way to probe the nature of the central engine of AGN at smaller linear scales, and previous studies have shown that optical variability of AGN is more prevalent at longer timescales and at shorter wavelengths. To understand the properties and physical mechanism of variability, we are performing the KMTNet Active Nuclei Variability Survey (KANVaS). Especially, we investigated intra-night variability of AGN with KMTNet data which observed COSMOS field during 3 separate nights from 2015 to 2016 in B, V, R, and I bands. Each night was composed of 5, 9, and 11 epochs with 20-30 min cadence. To find AGN in the COSMOS field, we applied multi-wavelength selection methods. Using X-ray, mid-infrared, and radio selection methods, 50-60, 130-220, 20-40 number of AGN are detected, respectively. Achieving photometric uncertainty ~0.01mag by differential photometry, we employed a standard time-series analysis tool to identify variable AGN, chi-square test. Preliminary results indicate that there is no evidence of intra-night optical variability of AGN. It is possible that previous studies discovered intra-night variability used inappropriate photometric error. However, main reason seems that our targets have fainter magnitude (higher photometric error) than that of previous studies. To discover variability of AGN, we will investigate longer timescale variability of AGN.

The performance evaluation and fabrication of integrated-optic electric-field sensor utilizing $Ti:LiNbO_3$ asymmetric Mach-Zehnder intensity modulator with a push-pull lumped electrode and a plate-type probe antenna to measure an electric field strength is described. The modulator has a small device size of $46{\times}7{\times}1\;mm$ and operates at a wavelength $1.3{\mu}m$. The devices are simulated based on the BPM software and fabricated utilizing Ti-diffused $LiNbO_3$ channel optical waveguides. The minimum detectable electric field is 1.02 V/m and 6.91 V/m, corresponding to a dynamic range of ~35 dB and ~10 dB at the frequencies of 500 KHz and 5 MHz, respectively.

There has been studied flow to minimize the spot size to increase data capacity. Optical data storage devices are being developed near practical limits with wavelength and NA of 405nm and 0.85. There has been studied many types of next generation storage devices such as blu-ray multilayer system, probe based data storage and holographic data storage. Among these data storage devices, solid immersion lens(SIL) based near field recording (NFR) has been widely studied. In this system, SIL is the key component that focuses the laser beam with a very small size which enables ultra high data capacity. Therefore, optical performance evaluation system is required for SIL assembly. In this dissertation, a simple and accurate SIL assembly measurement method is proposed with wedge plate lateral shearing interferometer(LSI). Wedge plate LSI is cheaper than commercialized interferometer, robust to the vibration and the moving distance for phase shifting is large that is order of micrometer. We designed the thickness, wedge angle, material, surface quality and wavelength of wedge plate as 1mm, 0.02degree, fused silica, lamda/10(10-5) and 405nm, respectively. Also, we confirmed simulation and experimental results with quantitative analysis. This simple wedge plate LSI can be applied to different types of SIL such as solid immersion mirror(SIM), hemispherical, super-hemispherical and elliptical SIL.
Using a cantilever type nanoprobe having a 100㎚m aperture at the apex of the pyramidal tip of a near-field scanning optical microscope (NSOM), nanopatterning of polymer films are conducted. Two different types of polymer, namely a positive photoresist (DPR-i5500) and an azopolymer (Poly disperse orange-3), spincoated on a silicon wafer are used as the substrate. A He-Cd laser with a wavelength of 442㎚ is employed as the illumination source. The optical near-field produced at the tip of the nanoprobe induces a photochemical reaction on the irradiated region, leading to the fabrication of nanostructures below the diffraction limit of the laser light. By controlling the process parameters properly, nanopatterns as small as 100㎚ are produced on both the photoresist and azopolymer samples. The shape and size variations of the nanopatterns are examined with respect to the key process parameters such as laser beam power, irradiation time or scanning speed of the probe, operation modes of the NSOM (DC and AC modes), etc. The characteristic features during the fabrication of ordered structures such as dot or line arrays using NSOM lithography are investigated. Not only the direct writing of nano array structures on the polymer films but also the fabrication of NSOM-written patterns on the silicon substrate were investigated by introducing a passivation layer over the silicon surface. Possible application of thereby developed NSOM lithography technology to the fabrication of data storage is discussed.
Pulsed terahertz (THz) radiation was generated by optical rectification and detected by a fee space electro-optic sampling (FS-EOS) method. We used ZnTe (110) crystals for both generation and detection. By coating dielectric anti-reflection film on the ZnTe crystal surface, we can reduce the reflectance of a pump laser beam from $30\%$ to $2\%$, and the terahertz pulse amplitude increased $27\%$ compared with an uncoated crystal. A wider bandwidth of THz radiation was obtained by using a thinner crystal but the signal intensity was decreased in this case. And variations of THz radiation by changing orientation of the ZnTe crystal with respect to the pump (or probe) laser polarization, and by changing the power of the pump laser have also been investigated and discussed.

The present work explains the interfacial energetics of all oxide transparent photodiodes. The optical, structural and morphological of copper oxides were systematically analyse by UV-Visible spectrometer, X-Ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Atomic force microscopy measurements (AFM). The UV-Visible result exhibits optical bandgap of Cu2O and CuO as 2.2 and 2.05 eV respectively. SEM and AFM result shows a uniform grain size distribution in Cu2O and CuO thin films with the average grain size of 45 and 40 nm respectively. The results of Current-Voltage and Kelvin probe force microscope characteristics describe the electrical responses of the Cu2O/ZnO and CuO/ZnO heterojunctions photodiodes. The obtained electrical response depicts the approximately same knee voltages with a measurable difference in the absolute value of net terminal current. More over the present study realizes the all oxide transparent photodiode with zero bias photocurrent. The presented results lay the template for fabricating and analysing the self-bias all oxide transparent photodetector.

Although a transparent conductive film (TCF) belongs to essential supporting materials for many device applications such as touch screens, flat panel displays, and sensors, a conventional transparent conductive material, indium-tin oxide (ITO), suffers from considerable drawback because the price of indium has soared since 2001. Despite a recent falloff, a demand of ITO is expected to increase sharply in the future due to the trend of flat panel display technologies toward flexible, paper-like features. There have been recently extensive studies to replace ITO with new materials, in particular, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) since CNTs possess excellent properties such as flexibility, electrical conductivity, optical transparency, mechanical strength, etc., which are prerequisite to TCFs. This study fabricated TCFs with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) produced by arc discharge. The SWCNTs were dispersed in water with a surfactant of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (NaDDBS) under sonication. Carbon black and fullerene nanoparticles were added to the SWCNT-dispersed solution to enhance contact resistance between CNTs. TCFs were manufactured by a filtration and transfer method. TCFs added with carbon black and fullerene nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-vis spectroscopy (optical transmittance), and four-point probe measurement (sheet resistance).
