This paper represents a new type low power High Frequency technological ion source (HF TIS) for ion - beam processing: the surface modification of materials, cleaning of surface, sputtering, coating of thin films, and polishing. The operational principle of HF TIS is based on the excitation of electrostatic waves in plasma located in the external magnetic field. Low power HF TIS with diameter 92 rom gives the opportunity to obtain beams of inert and chemically reactive gases with currents range from 5 to 150 mA (current density $0.015\;~\;3.5\;mA/\textrm{m}^2$) and ion beam energy 100 ~ 2500 eV at a HF power level 10 ~ 150 W. Three grid concave type ion optical system (IOS) is used for extraction and formation ofion beam.n beam.
Aero-optic phenomena cause the image position displacement on an imaging plane of the airborne optical/IR systems. Particularly, the aero-optic boresight error(BSE) is important factor for homing, positioning and aiming applications of hypersonic flight interceptor missile. In this paper, an estimating method of aero-optic BSE for a hypersonic flight vehicle is studied. A ray tracing method and a transform method of refractive index fields from flow density fields are combined with computational fluid dynamics(CFD) method.
Installation of sensors networks for continuous in-service monitoring of structures and their efficiency conditions is a current research trend of paramount interest. On-line monitoring systems could be strategically useful for road infrastructures, which are expected to perform efficiently and be self-diagnostic, also in emergency scenarios. This work researches damage detection in composite concrete-steel structures that are typical for highway overpasses and bridges. The techniques herein proposed assume that typical damage in the deck occurs in form of delamination and cracking, and that it affects the peak power spectral density of dynamic curvature. The investigation is performed by combining results of measurements collected by long-gauge fiber optic strain sensors installed on monitored structure and a statistic approach. A finite element model has been also prepared and validated for deepening peculiar aspects of the investigation and the availability of the method. The proposed method for real time applications is able to detect a documented unusual behavior (e.g., damage or deterioration) through long-gauge fiber optic strain sensors measurements and a probabilistic study of the dynamic curvature power spectral density.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to measure the dose distribution of Photodynamic therapy(PDT) laser with 635 nm wavelength using GafChromic film. Method & Result: We made each output 300 J by changing mW and sec using the laser beam radiation mode such as C.W(Continuous Wave) mode, Pulse mode and Burst Pulse mode and measured the does at 0 mm and 5 mm of distance from optic fiber catheter end to the film, and at 5 mm distance by changing the angle of the end of the optic fiber catheter as $0^{\circ}$ and $0.5^{\circ}$. The radiated film was scanned and OD(Optical Density) was compared. And two-dimensional isodose curves were obtained and the consistency of shapes was compared. It was confirmed that there was consistency between optic density and the dose radiated on the film when we radiated GafChromic film by changing distance and angle of 300 J output in each radiation mode coordinating mW and sec. Conclusion: In this study, we could identify the stability according to changes in laser beam modes, changes in output according to distance, changes in uniformity according to angle, and beam profiles using GafChromic film, and we could also get two-dimensional isodose curve. It was found that small change in the distance and angle that is made when optic fiber catheter was contacted on the treatment area did not make big effects on the output of beam and the uniformity of dose, and it was also found that GafChromic film could be utilized for the purpose of QA of PDT laser beam.
We have prepared a phenothiazine-based nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophore that displays a fairly high microscopic nonlinearity through intramolecular charge transfer. The phenothiazine unit plays important roles of contributing its high electron donating ability and connecting the resonance pathway through a conjugative effect in the cyclized ring adjacent to the aromatic ring. Theoretical calculations and an absorption spectroscopic study provided useful information concerning the microscopic nonlinearity of the chromophores. We investigated the electro-optic (EO) properties of the guest-host systems in amorphous polycarbonate containing the synthesized chromophores at different concentrations under different poling temperatures. A real-time pole and probe method provided a much greater amount of information regarding how the EO properties can arise and how they can be optimized.
Computerized densitometry was developed or the quantitative measurement of diffuse retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) atrophy and intra- and inter-operator reliability and clinical validity of this system were evaluated. Vertical diameter, center of the optic disc, and peripapillary circles which had radii of 1.5 and 2.5 times that of the optic disc were user-interactively determined in digitized RNFL photograph and density profile along each circle was measured and normalized. The areas under the normalized density profiles of the superior and the inferior segments in both circle were used or the study of RNFL. To determine the variability and correspondence in the measurements of density variations, 21 RNFL photographs of glaucoma patients which showed varying degrees of atrophy underwent computerized densitometry by two operators on two separate occasions. Coefficient of variation in the densitometric measurements was $1.2{\sim}5.4%$. Intra- and inter-operator reliabilities were excellent. The correlations between the densitometric values and mean deviations of Humphrey C30-2 visual field showed statistical significance. Computerized densitometry of RNFL photographs was useful in the objective and quantitative assessment of diffuse RNFL atrophy.
In this study, we report the effect of pre-treatment of alpha-$Ga_2O_3$ grown on a sapphire substrate by halide vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). During the pre-treatment process, 10 sccm of GaCl gas was injected to the sapphire substrate at $470^{\circ}C$. The surface morphologies of the alpha-$Ga_2O_3$ layers grown with various pre-treatment time (3, 5, and 10 min) were flat and crack-free. The transmittance of the alpha-$Ga_2O_3$ epi-layers was measured to analyze their optical properties. The transmittance was over 80% within the range of visible light. The strain in the alpha-$Ga_2O_3$ grown with a pre-treat 5 min was measured, and was found to be close to the theoretical XRD peak position. This can be explained by the reduction of strain having caused a lattice mismatch between the alpha-$Ga_2O_3$ layer and sapphire substrate. The calculated dislocation density of the screw and edge were $2.5{\times}10^5cm^{-2}$ and $8.8{\times}10^9cm^{-2}$, respectively.
A flat-type piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic transmitter was successfully fabricated for application in acoustic devices with cone-free diaphragms. The transmitter, possessing a center frequency of 40.6 kHz, exhibited a higher displacement characteristic for a multilayer type compared with a single layer type. Surface roughness treatment of an Al elastic diaphragm influenced a slight increase (1.1 dB) in the sound pressure level (SPL) at $10V_{rms}$ due to the enlarged surface area. The fabricated multilayer piezoelectric ceramic ultrasonic transmitter showed increasing SPL with increasing input voltage, with a maximum SPL of approximately 123.6 dB at $10V_{rms}$. This implies a doubly increased SPL density of $3.6dB/mm^3$, superior to that of a commercial open-type transmitter with a cone.
