  • The functionally generated path (FGP) technique, first described by Meyer in 1933, is a method in the oral cavity to use the movement pathway formed by the opposing cusps within the border movement of the mandible. Using this method, an appropriate occlusal shape can be given to the patient. In this case, the FGP technique was selected to provide a bilateral balanced occlusion when restoring the edentulous maxilla that opposes the natural mandibular teeth with irregular arrangement with overdentures. In addition, in order to precisely form the occlusal surface of the posterior region with the FGP technique and to reduce the attrition of denture teeth, zirconia denture teeth, not conventional resin artificial teeth, were individually manufactured. After treatment with these materials and methods, satisfactory results were obtained for both the operator and the patient.

  • Ground, sea and air mobility, such as vehicles, ships, and airplanes, are generally operated by people. Based on the innovative development of autonomous decision-making systems and artificial intelligence (AI) following the recent fourth industrial revolution, research and development on maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS) is been actively performed around the world. Before the realization of the commercialization of MASS in international maritime transport, it is urgent to clarify the characteristics of this ship and its international legal status. This paper aims to analyze the concern of whether a ship without crew members will eventually be operated as a fully unmanned ship or can be recognized as a ship under international law as the number of crew members is gradually reduced owing to the development stage of autonomous ships. Consequently, based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), it was found that MASS has the same international legal status as general ships. In addition this paper presents the working principles of enacting and revising the IMO Conventions and international legal measures necessary for the safe operation of MASS.

  • The Lao government is continuously developing hydro-power dams in addition to the existing eight power plants in the Nam Ngum River basin and is expanding the power capacity of the existing power plants to meet the expected increase in electricity demand. Accordingly, the Lao government has requested an update on the existing reservoir operating rule curve in order to run the power plants efficiently. To this end, this study reviewed the current independent operating system as well as the joint operating system in order to maximize the annual power generation produced by a power plant by using CSUDP, general-purpose dynamic programming (DP) software. The appropriate operating regulation curve forms (URC/LRC, MRC) were extracted from the DP results, and the annual power generations were simulated by inputting them as the basic operating data of the reservoir operation set of the HEC-ResSim program. By synthesizing the amount of the annual power generation simulated, the existing operation regulation curve, the operational performance, and the opinion of the field operator, the optimal reservoir operation regulation curves that maximize the annual power generation of the target power plant were developed. Results revealed that a system operating in conjunction with the reservoir produces about 2.5 % more power generation than an independent reservoir due to the synergistic effect of the connection.

  • Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) operators perform traffic management tasks using VTS systems and sensor equipment designated as VTS facilities to promote the safety and efficiency of vessel traffic. The necessary VTS information for effective operations could be obtained through the additional access of various information channels other than the designated VTS facility. To unify these various information access windows, the development of the VTS cloud system is in progress. In this study, the operational information analysis for VTS was performed through VTS tasks-facility linkage analysis to identify the user required information according to the introduction of the VTS cloud system. The VTS task analysis was performed through research of the international and domestic literature, and expert interviews. The necessary information were identified and linked according to the VTS facilities. As a result of the analysis, 37 categories of necessary information were identified for internal and external information windows, and 8 information windows were selected other than the present VTS equipment. The identified user requirements would be applied to the structure design of the VTS cloud system. In the future, it is necessary to update user requirements through scenario-based user operation analysis and to conduct additional research on the system interface design.

  • Networks are growing faster than ever before causing a multi-domain complexity. The diversity, variety and dynamic nature of network traffic and services require enhanced orchestration and management approaches. While many standard orchestrators and network operators are resulting in an increase of complexity for handling E2E slice orchestration. Besides, there are multiple domains involved in E2E slice orchestration including access, edge, transport and core network each having their specific challenges. Hence, handling of multi-domain, multi-platform and multi-operator based networking environments manually requires specified experts and using this approach it is impossible to handle the dynamic changes in the network at runtime. Also, the manual approaches towards handling such complexity is always error-prone and tedious. Hence, this work proposes an automated and abstracted solution for handling E2E slice orchestration using an intent-based approach. It abstracts the domains from the operators and enable them to provide their orchestration intention in the form of high-level intents. Besides, it actively monitors the orchestrated resources and based on current monitoring stats using the machine learning it predicts future utilization of resources for updating the system states. Resulting in a closed-loop automated E2E network orchestration and management system.

  • Purpose: Based on the risk evaluation of hydrogen fueling stations, this study aims to find a plan to strengthen management safety by examining profitability and management risk, which are major concerns of employers. Method: The risk evaluation was divided into 'acceptable risk' and 'allowable risk' over time from the stage of installation of hydrogen fueling stations, and compared and analyzed with the results of existing studies. Result: Existing studies have been appropriately applied to the risk assessment performed at the stage of installing hydrogen fueling stations. However, possible risks could be found at the operational stage. In other words, it was derived that an evaluation of management risk was also necessary. And through this, it was confirmed that the safety of hydrogen fueling stations was strengthened. Conclusion: The risk assessment that precedes the stage of installing hydrogen fueling stations is appropriate because significant results have been derived from the 'acceptable risk' assessment. However, the operator needs to evaluate the risks that may occur at the operating stage, that is, the 'allowable risks' and prepare countermeasures. Therefore, it is proposed to add management risk assessment items to build and operate safer hydrogen fueling stations.

  • More than half of barges have been surveyed and designated as an "unmanned barge". The main advantage of the unmanned barge is that it can carry more cargo equivalent to 25 percent of freeboard compared to that of a manned barge. In contrast, it needs an onboard crew barge because the bargeman is in charge of several tasks during sailing such as mooring or unmooring barges to or from a wharf, dropping and heaving up an anchor and turning on and of navigational lights and shapes. The instant recognition is that a tug assume the responsibility of operating a barge; however, different situations exist in which the shipper, as the operator of the barge, hires a tug. Although a tug might be a carrier of a barge under a specific contract, the master of the tug should fulfill his duty to complete its voyage. Most masters are not provided with the particulars of a barge and the information regarding the bargemen onboard, which is believed not to respect the master's authority and lead to an unintended violation of relevant laws. This paper presents three recommendations for resolving these issues: the policy approach for changing unmanned barges to manned barges, issuing a minimum safe manning certificate, and providing the master of tug information on the barge and the crew onboard. Thus, the proposed approach can be expected to improve the crew's working conditions, diminish the violation of the maximum number of persons onboard the barge, and ensure the authority of the master of tug through such recommendations.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a framework of the MyData business ecosystem that shows a different pattern from the previous one by the MyData concept and to define the characteristics of actors participating in the ecosystem. Because MyData is an individual exercising sovereignty over his or her data, there is a characteristic that the individual participates as a key actor in the business. In other words, MyData Operators participate in the MyData business ecosystem to help individuals who own MyData, MyData creating business and MyData using business, among them, manage their own data. Therefore, this study conducts a case study of domestic and foreign MyData businesses to revitalize the domestic MyData industry. In particular, the business model of 45 cases of overseas MyData operators was analyzed and classified into 7 types of 4 groups. And through this, the importance of the role of MyData Operator in the MyData industry ecosystem is confirmed and a developmental ecosystem model is proposed.

  • The frequency of marine accidents of vessels in Korea is steadily increasing and it is concentrated on small vessels with less than 10 tons of gross tonnage. Therefore, preventing capsizing accidents in small vessels is important to reduce the cost in terms of human and property damage due to such accidents. However, research on the seakeeping performance of small vessels has been insufficient, and there are no domestic and international regulations on seakeeping performance. Therefore, in this study, capsizing accidents caused by poor loading conditions were investigated by examining the adjudications of the small vessels in which the capsizing accidents occurred. Hydrostatic calculations and seakeeping performance analysis were performed for a representative vessel. A vessel generally performs a six-degree-of-freedom motion during operation. In this study, the response amplitude operator and response spectrum of a representative vessel were calculated to determine the roll motion. Moreover, a short-term statistical analysis of the vessel according to the loading conditions was performed for the wave stationary status for 3 h. From the results, it was estimated that, when the loading condition of a small vessel is poor, its roll motion increases, greatly reducing its stability.
