  • With the advent of industrialization, consumers and end-users demand more reliable products. Meeting these demands requires a comprehensive approach, involving tasks such as market information collection, planning, reliable raw material procurement, accurate reliability design, and prediction, including various reliability tests. Moreover, this encompasses aspects like reliability management during manufacturing, operational maintenance, and systematic failure information collection, interpretation, and feedback. Improving product reliability requires prioritizing it from the initial development stage. Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) is a widely used method to increase product reliability. In this study, we reanalyzed using the FMEA method and proposed an improved method. Domestic railways lack an accurate measurement method or system for maintenance, so maintenance decisions rely on the opinions of experienced personnel, based on their experience with past faults. However, the current selection method is flawed as it relies on human experience and memory capacity, which are limited and ineffective. Therefore, in this study, we further specify qualitative contents to systematically accumulate failure modes based on the Failure Modes Table and create a standardized form based on the Master FMEA form to newly systematize it.

Hydro-structural issues in the design of ultra large container ships

  • The structural design of the ships includes two main issues which should be checked carefully, namely the extreme structural response (yielding & buckling) and the fatigue structural response. Even if the corresponding failure modes are fundamentally different, the overall methodologies for their evaluation have many common points. Both issues require application of two main steps: deterministic calculations of hydro-structure interactions for given operating conditions on one side and the statistical post-processing in order to take into account the lifetime operational profile, on the other side. In the case of ultra large ships such as the container ships and in addition to the classical quasi-static type of structural responses the hydroelastic structural response becomes important. This is due to several reasons among which the following are the most important: the increase of the flexibility due to their large dimensions (Lpp close to 400 m) which leads to the lower structural natural frequencies, very large operational speed (> 20 knots) and large bow flare (increased slamming loads). The correct modeling of the hydroelastic ship structural response, and its inclusion into the overall design procedure, is significantly more complex than the evaluation of the quasi static structural response. The present paper gives an overview of the different tools and methods which are used in nowadays practice.

HDS를 통한 헬리콥터 로우터 블레이드 동적 특성 및 하중 분석기법 연구

  • 본 논문은 HDS를 통해 헬리콥터 로우터 블레이드 동적 특성을 분석하는 기법 및 하중 분석 기법을 포함하고 있다. 헬리콥터의 진동 특성을 결정짓는 블레이드의 동적 특성을 분 석하기 위해 로우터 회전속도에 따른 고유 진동수 및 고유 모드를 구하였다. 헬리콥터 로 우터의 운용 회전속도(Ω)의 정수배(NΩ)와 회전하는 로우터 블레이드의 고유 진동수와 근 접성을 검토함으로써 헬리콥터에 전달되는 진동을 예측할 수 있게 된다. 또한 블레이드에 서 생기는 공력 하중을 정확히 예측함으로써 동체에 전달되는 진동하중을 구할 수 있게 된다. 로우터 블레이드 동역학적 설계시 필수적인 2가지 기법의 기본적인 내용을 기술함으 로써 헬리콥터 설계 과정을 수립하고자 하였다.

A Novel Dual-Input Boost-Buck Converter with Coupled Inductors for Distributed Thermoelectric Generation Systems

  • A dual-input boost-buck converter with coupled inductors (DIBBC-CI) is proposed as a thermoelectric generator (TEG) power conditioner with a wide input voltage range. The DIBBC-CI is built by cascading two boost cells and a buck cell with shared inverse coupled filter inductors. Low current ripple on both sides of the TEG and the battery are achieved. Reduced size and power losses of the filter inductors are benefited from the DC magnetic flux cancellation in the inductor core, leading to high efficiency and high power density. The operational principle, impact of coupled inductors, and design considerations for the proposed converter are analyzed in detail. Distributed maximum power point tracking, battery charging, and output control are implemented using a competitive logic to ensure seamless switching among operational modes. Both the simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed topology and control.

Analysis of steam generator tube rupture accidents for the development of mitigation strategies

  • We analyzed mitigation strategies for steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) accidents using MARS code under both full-power and low-power and shutdown (LPSD) conditions. In general, there are two approaches to mitigating SGTR accidents: supplementing the reactor coolant inventory using safety injection systems and depressurizing the reactor coolant system (RCS) by cooling it down using the intact steam generator. These mitigation strategies were compared from the viewpoint of break flow from the ruptured steam generator tube, the core integrity, and the possibility of the main steam safety valves opening, which is associated with the potential release of radiation. The "cooldown strategy" is recommended for break flow control, whereas the "RCS make-up strategy" is better for RCS inventory control. Under full power, neither mitigation strategy made a significant difference except for on the break flow while, in LPSD modes, the RCS cooldown strategy resulted in lower break and discharge flows, and thus less radiation release. As a result, using the cooldown strategy for an SGTR under LPSD conditions is recommended. These results can be used as a fundamental guide for mitigation strategies for SGTR accidents according to the operational mode.

일체형 완속교반/침전 그물망 압착식 섬유여과장치를 이용한 하수처리장 반류수 내 고농도 인 및 부유물질 처리 (Treatment of Phosphorus and Suspended Solid in Reject Water of Sewage Using an Integrated Slow Mixing/Sedimentation and Net Fit Fiber Filtration System)

  • 하수 및 폐수 내 고농도의 인 및 부유물질 제어를 위해 개발한 일체형 완속교반/침전 그물망 압착식 섬유여과시스템을 이용하여 하수처리장의 반류수 내 부유성 고형물 및 인 처리에 적용했을 경우에 따른 성능을 검토하고자 하였다. 6가지 Mode로 실험을 하였으며, 16.7, 33.3, 41.7 및 50.0 ton/day 유량과 Al/P 몰비 2~4의 조건에서 실험을 행하였다. 응집제를 주입하였을 경우에 모두 높은 총인(T-P) 제거 효율을 보였지만 연속운전시간이 7.8 min~11.4 min으로 짧아지는 단점이 생겼다. 이를 극복하기 위해 일체형 완속교반/침전 그물망 압착식 섬유여과시스템을 응집/급속교반/공기주입/완속교반/침전공정 및 여과공정으로 진행 시 연속운전시간이 88.2 min으로 다른 모드로 운전한 결과에 비해 8~11.3배 정도 증가하였다. 역세수량율도 5.4%로 매우 낮게 나타남에 따라 이 공정이 가장 효율적인 처리방안으로 평가되었다.

생물막 반응기내 다공성 중공사형막을 이용한 운전방식에 따른 흡입 압력 (Suction Pressures with respect to the Operational Modes using the Multi-bore Capillary Membranes in the Membrane Bioreactor)

  • 본 연구에서는 다공성 중공사형 분리막(multi-bore capillary membrane module)을 생물막 반응기(MBR)에 침지시켜 운전시간에 따른 흡입 압력을 측정하였다. 공칭 세공크기가 0.2㎛, 외경이 6.4 또는 4.2 mm이고 육각 형태인 중공사형모듈을 MLSS 8,000 mg/L 활성 슬러지 수용액에 각각 침지시키고 투과 유속, 공기량에 따른 변화를 확인하였다. 여과운전/정지이완(FR) 및 정지이완 시 역세척(FR/BW) 및 사인파형 투과유속 연속운전(SFCO) 방식으로 조작하였다. SFCO의 흡입 압력은 30 L/m2·hr에서 낮았으며, 50 L/m2·hr에서는 FR의 흡입 압력이 높게 나타났다. 또한 외경이 작은 모듈의 흡입 압력 상승이 비교적 낮았으며, 외경이 큰 모듈의 흡입 압력은 높게 상승하였지만 역세척으로 40% 이상 감소시킬 수 있었다.

태양광 배터리 Hybrid 전력공급시스템 9가지 운전 모드 시험결과 및 무고장 연속 운전을 위한 자동제어 알고리즘 개발 (Experimental Test Results of Nine Scheduling Operational Modes of PV and Battery Hybrid System for the Development of Automatic Control Algorithm for Continual Operation without being shut-downed)

  • K-BEMS 시스템은 태양광과 배터리를 Hybrid PCS 및 EMS로 구성하여, 건물에너지 절감 및 건물 PEAK 부하를 감축하기 위해 도입되었으며, 200여 한전 사옥에 보급되어 시범 운영되고 있다. K-BEMS 시스템을 보다 안정적으로 그리고 효율적으로 운영하기 위한 K-BEMS 연구과제를 2016년 1월부터 2018년 현재까지 전력연구원이 약 3년간 걸쳐 수행하였다. 본 논문에서는 K-BEMS 연구과제에서 수행한 9가지 Scheduling 운전 모드 시험 결과 및 3년간의 Scheduling 운전 결과 발견한 문제점, 그리고 이 문제점 해결을 위해 도입한 제어 알고리즘을 보여 주고 있다. K-BEMS 9가지 Scheduling 자동제어 운전모드 시험을 수행 하였으며, 이 중 3가지 운전모드에서 알고리즘 개선 사항을 발견하였는데, 이들 3가지 경우 모두 배터리 연계 운전과 관련이 있는 것으로 드러났다. 배터리 SOC(State of Charge)는 통상 20% 이상에서 운전되는데, 20% 이하가 되면 배터리 보호 차단기가 동작하여 K-BEMS 자동 운전이 정지되는 현상을 발생한다. 그런데 이 Hybrid 자동제어 모드에서, 배터리 차단기 trip시 태양광 공급마저 중단되는 현상을 발견하였다. 그러므로, Hybrid 공급모드에서 배터리의 차단기가 동작될 경우, 태양광 단독운전으로 자동 전환하여 태양광 공급마저 중단되지 않도록 알고리즘을 재구성하여 자동제어 운전하는 것이 총 에너지 절감 측면에서 반드시 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. 이 때, 계측제어 오차를 감안하여야 하며, 배터리 정지를 너무 보수적으로 의식하여, SOC 운전 Range를 너무 축소해서 운전하면 당초의 피크 부하 저감 이라는 경제성 목표를 달성할 수 없으므로, 효과적인 hybrid 운전(건물 피크 부하 감축 운전)을 위해서는 정지된 SOC 값을 컴퓨터가 기억하고 있다가, 향후 재가동 자동제어 운전시에서는 SOC Range값을 변경 조정 하여 최적 제어 운전하는 자동제어 알고리즘이 PV & Battery hybrid peak load demand control에서 반드시 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

Simulation study of magnetorheological testing cell design by incorporating all basic operating modes

  • Magnetorheological (MR) fluid is one of the field-responsive fluids that is of interest to many researchers due to its high yield stress value, which depends on the magnetic field strength. Similar to electrorheological (ER) fluid, the combination of working modes is one of the techniques to increase the performance of the fluids with limited focus on MR fluids. In this paper, a novel MR testing cell incorporated with valve, shear and squeeze operational modes is designed and constructed in order to investigate the behaviour of MR fluid in combined mode. The magnetic field distribution in the design concept was analyzed using finite element method in order to verify the effective areas of each mode have the acceptable range of flux density. The annular gap of valve and shear were fixed at 1 mm, while the squeeze gap between the parallel circular surfaces was varied up to 20 mm. Three different coil configurations, which were made up from 23 SWG copper wires were set up in the MR cell. The simulation results indicated that the magnetic field distributed in the squeeze gap was the highest among the other gaps with all coils were subjected to a constant applied current of 1 A. Moreover, the magnetic flux densities in all gaps were in a good range of magnitude based on the simulations that validated the proposed design concept. Hence, the 3D model of the MR testing cell was designed using Solidworks for manufacturing processes.

공기주입 방식을 이용한 매립모형조내 폐기물 안정화 (Stabilization of Solid Waste in Lysimeter by Air Injection Mode)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate air injection mode on stabilization of solid waste in lysimeter. For three lysimeters, one was maintained under anaerobic condition as control, and air was injected into two lysimeters in continuous mode (atmospheric pressure) and intermittent mode (high pressure of 2 bar). Distilled water was sprayed over solid waste in 1.4 l/$m^3$(solid waste)/day, supposing rainfall intensity of 1,200 mm/yr and 30% infiltration. Oxygen in landfill gas was not detected in control lysimeter during operational days. After 30 day-aeration, oxygen concentrations of continuous and intermittent modes were maintained in 14% and 6%, respectively. $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiencies of continuous and intermittent modes were about 70% and 50%, and BOD5 removal efficiencies were about 80% and 20%, respectively. In view of oxygen supply, and $COD_{Cr}$ and $BOD_5$ removal, continuous air injection mode of atmospheric pressure was more effective than intermittent mode of 2 bar. Settling degree of solid waste in case of two air injection modes was 3 times higher than that of anaerobic condition as control. Considering the above results, it was thought that air injection (especially continuous atmospheric pressure) could improve degradation of solid waste and induce preliminary stabilization in landfill site.
