  • In this paper, a method is presented to identify the physical and modal parameters of multistory shear building based on substructural technique using block pulse generalized operational matrix and genetic algorithm. The substructure approach divides a complete structure into several substructures in order to significantly reduce the number of unknown parameters for each substructure so that identification processes can be independently conducted on each substructure. Block pulse functions are set of orthogonal functions that have been used in recent years as useful tools in signal characterization. Assuming that the input-outputs data of the system are known, their original BP coefficients can be calculated using numerical method. By using generalized BP operational matrices, substructural dynamic vibration equations can be converted into algebraic equations and based on BP coefficient for each story can be estimated. A cost function can be defined for each story based on original and estimated BP coefficients and physical parameters such as mass, stiffness and damping can be obtained by minimizing cost functions with genetic algorithm. Then, the modal parameters can be computed based on physical parameters. This method does not require that all floors are equipped with sensor simultaneously. To prove the validity, numerical simulation of a shear building excited by two different normally distributed random signals is presented. To evaluate the noise effect, measurement random white noise is added to the noise-free structural responses. The results reveal the proposed method can be beneficial in structural identification with less computational expenses and high accuracy.

  • Based on the previous studies on alcohol effects on human behaviour and performance in transportation system such as air-plane and car driving, the alcohol exposure before and on watch of a ship has a great influence on subsequent behaviour. In this paper, to examine the drinking status of officers on board multiple choice questionnaires are circularized under instruction and surveyed for 118 officers. According to the results of the questionnaire survey on alcohol dependency (Alcoholism) that was invented by WHO, over 27 % of those surveyed represented alcohol abuse symptoms. In addition to that, the existing state and awareness for on-board-drinking was summarized to make a scenario of drink-operation with a ship handling simulator to investigate the effect of alcohol (0.08 g% blood alcohol concentrations) on ship operational performance. A main effect for alcohol was found indicating that ship operational performance was comparatively impaired by this alcohol relative to performance in the non-alcohol condition The results of this research can be applied to minimize marine accidents as basic data.

  • Integrated humidity sensor system with two stages operational amplifier has been designed and fabricated by $0.8{\mu}m$ analog mixed CMOS technology. The system (28 pin and $2mm{\times}4mm$) consisted of Wheatstone-bridge type humidity sensor, resistive type humidity sensor, temperature sensors and operational amplifier for signal amplification and process in one chip. The poly-nitride etch stop process has been tried to form the sensing area as well as trench in a standard CMOS process. This modified technique did not affect the CMOS devices in their essential characteristics and gave an allowance to fabricate the system on same chip by standard process. The operational amplifier showed the stable operation so that unity gain bandwidth was more than 5.46 MHz and slew rate was more than 10 V/uS, respectively. The drain current of n-channel humidity sensitive field effect transistor (HUSFET) increased from 0.54 mA to 0.68 mA as the relative humidity increased from 10 to 70 %RH.

  • Though many studies regarding roundabout have been recently conducted, most of them have focused on operational aspect. Moreover, majority of the previous researches analyzes operational effects of single roundabout, but seldom investigate the effects of multi-roundabouts constructed on road networks. In this study, we seek ways to construct multiple roundabouts on road network maximizing their operational effects. The analysis investigate influence of both adjacent signalized and unsignalized intersections as well as influence of the distance from those intersections to roundabouts. The results show that the optimal distance between two adjacent intersections were calculated to be 150m, and any two intersections located within 150m apart influence each other thus imposing operational restrictions on each other. In addition, those results are confirmed using simulation analysis conducted on the real urban network in Nonheon regional area, Incheon City.

  • This study analyzed how risk factors in management affect the management of working capital in general hospitals in Korea. The data used accounting information for three years (2016~2017 and 2018) of 271 general hospitals using the medical institution accounting information disclosure system. The independent variables were the working capital level and the cash conversion cycle, The dependent variables were operational risk and market risk, Control variables were selected as components of working capital(cash, accounts receivable, inventory assets, accounts payable). According to the study, the lower the operational risk, the higher the level of working capital hospitals in Korea. Working capital decisions were confirmed to be attributable to operating risks, cash, inventory assets and accounts payable. And the lower the market risk (Operating Margin), the higher the cash conversion cycle. Therefore, it is necessary to review appropriate management measures of operational risks, cash, inventory assets and accounts payable identified as operating capital determinants so that medical institutions can also have economic response capabilities in consideration of the specificity of their operations.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine an organizational ICT(Information and Communication Technology) performance by ICT investment and policy consistency of government organizations. As the rapid development of ICT is becoming an essential element of social culture, the ICT operation of bureaucratic government also is becoming important. The central government has invested substantially new ICT for improving the quality of nationwide service and to promote administrative efficiency. However, various departments of government occur frequently duplication investments of ICT, and budget conflicts between organizations caused difficulties in maximizing ICT competency. I will confirm the ICT operational performance by ICT investment behavior and organizational work competency as well as the significance of ICT policy consistency. The method of study used a structural equation. The research model set ICT investment behavior as independent variables, organizational work competencies and policy consistency as mediations, and operational performance as dependencies. As a result of the research, New ICT interests show negative effects that caused work change between government organizations and government-funded body. But, New ICT convergence shows positive effects on increasing the two competency variables. The two competency variables show negative effects that caused changes in ICT policy consistency and show no impact on the ICT operational performance. The ICT policy consistency shows a positive effect on enhancing ICT operational performance. The study contribution explain updated the contingency theory and because the ICT policy consistency is essential, negotiation between government organizations will be important. Future research will require a qualitative study through interviews in government organizations about consistency enhance of ICT policy.

  • This paper presents the effect of internal corrosion, external corrosion, material properties, operation condition, earthquake, traffic load and design thickness in pipeline on the failure prediction using a failure probability model. A nonlinear corrosion is used to represent the loss of pipe wall thickness with time. The effects of environmental, operational, and design random variables such as a pipe diameter, earthquake, fluid pressure, a corrosion rate, a material yield stress and a pipe thickness on the failure probability are systematically investigated using a failure probability model for the corrosion pipeline.

  • The most important factors for a product to survive in the market are cost and quality. In recent years, quality proceeds to cost. There are many techniques of use to improve the quality of a product. One of the techniques is applying statistical methods (especially Taguchi method) to real operational conditions for a continuous manufacturing process in P company. There are 91 factors to control in the process. So, we predetermined 7 main effect factors and 6 interactive effect factors by statistical methods and advices of engineers. With these 13 factors, we determined the optimal level of operations for the process.
